Paris Tours is a 234k C1 sprinter’s classics, a few bumps in the last 20k add some complexity but the sprinters have controlled this one the last 3 years. The race goes all the way back to 2007 but has been run at nearly every level so has a pretty wide variety of winners. Nobody has won it more than once. Maybe pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/lpu.png Bonifazio is the man to break that trend, he won last year.

Another trend is that this classic French race has never been won by a French rider. That trend doesn’t seem likely to change since the only French sprinter on among our favorites is the last one on the list - pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/lot.png Zingle.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/isa.png Ewan has to be the favorite, he has had a great season and has all the attributes for this race. He can take the PCT scoring title if he wins. He has pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/isa.png Russo and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/isa.png Baska for the leadout and a horde of powerful roulers to chase the break, riders like pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/isa.png Sagiv and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/isa.png Mraouni.

The next 10 or so riders are all fairly similar. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/elc.png Farantakis is probably the best overall and is coming off a GC win in Gabon. Defending champion pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/lpu.png Bonifazio is the best on the flats but is not great at long distances. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/zal.png Vesely is a strong finisher but suffers from weaker secondaries. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/kmm.png Zabel was second last year. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/p4e.png Aniolkowski isn’t as fast as some of the others but has proven his toughness all season and was 5th last season. Scandinavia has two solid options in the veterans pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/min.png Ahlstrand and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/taf.png Enger.

While the sprinters have form in this race it could certainly go to a late attack.

Leading candidates are:

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/spz.png Kasperkiewicz765967777579

The race has attracted some of the most famous names in this category including pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/sct.png Mundle, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/llv.png Yzeiraj, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/p4e.png Varga, and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/spz.png Dzamastagic.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/bbc.png Quispe can never be dismissed and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/lpu.png Suter is an up-and-coming name. If the late climbs prove important then pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2024/Micros/spz.png Kasperkiewicz could be dangerous.

24 teams and 190 riders take the start.

Last chance for Kulikovskiy to overperform this season. Not sure why Kooistra is our designated leader though! Hopefully that doesn't spoil anything. Every point helps.

Thanks for the preview Ulrich!

Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune; or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing, end them?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Would prefer to see Nikiema on the attack on the bump towards the end of the race, but I think it will come down to a sprint. That should be okay though, as Zariff usually punches above his weight in these C1 sprints. A top 10 would be nice, but any points are appreciated.

Big race for Nur Hasan - with UBS picking up points in Canada we need something, anything really. It’s been a lean year for him, no time like the present to turn that around.

We will also know if Dunbar will finish top of the division here too - having to rely on Ewan not winning is a scary thought though. Would love for ISA to take the crown also, but not really now that they’re a (sadly) dead team.

Thanks for the preview, Ulrich, I'm looking forward for another quality report!
With Hodeg rather down the list the tactics clearly has to be to get into the break, but that didn't really work lately. So we're probably here for another anonymous race scoring minor points.

I don’t see my roulleurs have a shot at a late attack when we have Farantakis here, so it’s all about defending our pole position the best We Can. Stick to ISA, and try to follow Ewan, and perhaps steal some depth points.

Would be Nice to see Farantakis finish the season in style, rather than another 8-12th finish like most sprint finishes this season.

Nothing special from Kuli but 8th is fine in this field. He's had a good season and this is a decent end to it.

Congrats to Ollfardh and thanks for the report Ulrich!

We came for nothing (except appear in a French race), and well, we come home with just that. At least the road to home isn't too long.

Thanks for the preview and the report, congrats Ollfardh! Excited to see Bonifazio in PT Grin

Another small planning mistake here which has been the theme of the season for myself but good to know going into next season

Bonafazio winning out of spite is one of my favourite things

What a performance from Nur Hasan, and what a time to have it! Anonymous all season and comes out with that. It could have been much more if he didn’t get badly blocked and pushed to the back of the group. Venturini with a nice result also, this will hopefully keep us on par with UBS and Benetton during Japan. We shall see. Thanks for the report, and congrats again to Lierse!

Congrats Ollfardh! Bonifazio clearly does everything for another raise to make sure he'll never be sold...
Also a great race by Hodeg! We don't have many classics podiums in our pslmares, and it's probably our first ever podium on home soil.
