Update on disbands...
Confirmed disbands (not forced)
Llapi-Vita
Hilcona Racing Team
Zain-Omantel
Multi-year inactivity disbands
ISA - Hexacta
Team Popo4Ever p/b Morshynska
On the edge
Assa Abloy
Manada Coyote
Babymetal
Spoiler The three teams in the first category have confirmed that they will not be returning for the 2025 season.
The two teams in the second category have had limited activity outside of transfers and some tasks like Avenir, NC and WC nominations for more than two seasons now. Despite warnings, nothing has changed.
The teams in the third category are not yet confirmed as disbanded but their activity from now till the end of the season will determine their MG status. The level of danger for the teams is highest at the top of the category, decreasing downwards.
Some Clarifications regarding Promotion/Relegation
1) There will be no changes to the promotion/relegation system for this season.
2) There will be a poll in the off-season to decide whether a new system will be introduced for promotion/relegation for next season, based on the discussions that have happened so far, or if the current system will continue.
A request to any manager that if they are planning to quit to please inform MG Admin as soon as possible. |

Does that include no changes to the size of the divisions as well? Or could we end up e.g. with a smaller than usual PCT? I mean, if all of the "on the edge" teams end up leaving as well, we'd already have 9 CT teams out of 18 promoting (if Manada stay up, that is), and without new managers might be left with just 10 CT teams. Without considering any potential further disbands in higher divisions.
Also, just noticed that all of Ewan, Coquard and Dainese might end up in Free Agency... Hopefully the "on the edge" managers actually return and stay active!

As of now, there are no plans to reduce the size of the PCT, but everything depends on the final number of teams for the new season. |

So far there are 5 teams that will be out (assuming that the decision for ISA and Popo4Ever is final). To maintain the current format, we'll need at least 3 new teams given that 60% of the projected disbands are either in the CT division or as it's the case of Llapi - going to be in CT. Then we have the three questionables - Assa Abloy (currently in PT, but projected to be in PCT next year), Manada Coyote (PCT team, pretty much safe from relegation) and Babymetal (currently in CT). If the number of disbands goes as up as 8, then we may need 6-7 new teams - which may seem a tall order considering that 3 new managers this season never made it at all (they registered a team, but then disappeared).
To mitigate the dwindling CT numbers we can either abolish the division altogether (which is highly unlikely as it will bloat the PCT division) or allow the Top X teams in PT field a 'B-team' in CT (much like how some PT teams IRL have Developmental teams in CT) with some restrictions - for example they can only sign free agents, the OVL of the rider must not exceed a specific value (much like how the C2 restrictions for PCT teams work) and lvl 1 riders can't do 'double level up'
But that's just my ramblings.

It is almost certain that the two teams in the bottom category will also be disbanded as one has not posted at all this year and the other has done 2-3 posts after reminders and then stopped. Neither have done statgains! |

IMO there should be a confirmation by the time of the renewals as this will be in the best interests of the teams currently involved in the promotion fight in CT.

Weird to see all 3 activity disbands concerning PCT teams, as PCT always was the division I felt was the most active...
But yeah, I hope that the same criteria are applied to all teams and divisions, regardless of a team's and manager's previous achievements.
Really sad to see all three of ISA, P4E and Manada go. ISA was just such a strong team and with Ewan doing a bit better last year they could even still have been in PT.
fjhoekie's team was actually great, but recent PCM versions didn't really like Padun. He already was on the verge of disbanding before the 2023 season iirc, sad to see that he just couldn't find the motivation again
Also sad to see Manada go. Always loved DW's approach, and a very unlucky relegation this year (which won't matter for him anymore, but potentially quite a bit more for Spark).
The three other teams unfortunately were pretty short-running ones, with Llapi having some good success, though! Hilcona didn't really get going in the two years of their existence, and Zain sadly leaves us after just one year. Hoping they'll be the only disband of the 2024 class.
Really hoping we'll get another Latin team (or two) then, with Oxxo now being the only remaining squad south of the U.S. iirc. McCormick are also active in the area, but to really develop cycling in Central and South America, a little more might be needed...

While it sucks to see some long-running teams gone, IMO it was something that needed to be done. And this happens every year (I don't say that it happens with the same people, but there's been a pattern with some). Therefore can't blame MGUCI taking drastic measures. Which means that with 2 top-tier teams and a third one having strong riders now gone, the free agency window will be a massive bloodbath and could see a bidding war for some riders.
Additionally, yet again we see a new manager giving up after just one season and we had many new managers failing to do anything other than setting up their teams. This needs to be looked up and IMO with conversations in Discord are now becoming regular (R.I.P. Skype), perhaps communication with new managers will be much easier.

Yeah, so let's apologise for fully disappearing here..
My motivation hasn't been where it should be since the past 2 or 3 seasons really, and continuing last season was a decision I shouldn't have made really. My life has changed in a way in which I have sadly realised something that can be as time consuming as MG, mainly during transfers and preperation isn't sustainable for me anymore with my new job, aftermath of a personal situation and a strong desire to travel a lot.
I have followed my team at least a bit during this season, and dear God, Padun is such a weird one.. If he was at least somewhat decent I might've had something to keep me hooked, but in reality I only had Aniolkowski, Zouzou and some riders for RP reasons, and along the other mentioned factors that was simply not enough.
With that said though I can't thank everyone involved in keeping the game running enough, you're all doing a tremendous job and deserve other managers who can actually give the time and attention you all deserve! I wish things could be like they were before Covid really, with my activity and involvement at its peak. Who knows it may come back some time in the future, but for now it's only for the best I'm out of things.
Whoever wins the bidding wars, please take care of Aniolkowski, Zouzou, Gladysh and Ponomar in particular, and don't get excited by Padun's flashy stats, he'll only disappoint you...

Sad to see these managers go. Always had fun discussions with both Scorchio and Fjhoekie. Scorchio definitely lacked activity here in recent years, but he taught me a lot about the game during my middling PCT years that got me to where I am today. Also very sad to see DarkWolf gone. Was a tremendous manager from the get go, but I guess lost motivation quicker than I hoped/expected.

Obviously hurts to see a couple of these great guys leave. Some have been vital to the game for many seasons.
If We Can limit disbands to 5 per season, I Think We are in a very very good spot tbh. Remember that this game takes a full year to complete. And to get 5-7 new managers each season definately should both be possible and good for the dynamics.
I don’t see a lot of huge FA upsets from these teams either. A couple of top sprinters, aswell as a very solid pool of top tier domestiques and subtop leaders. Nothing that we don’t normally see though.

Llapi and Hilcona never really contributed anything, so apart from the possibility of a fun Albanian/Kosovo project, there's not a lot that we'll miss I guess. Manada indeed started off great, but over time it turned into months of absence sadly, and it seems like it's been a long time now again, as there have been multiple warnings here, and I believe privately as well.
Scorchio and hoekie have been here long before me and I've had very nice talks with both managers, but the decision to disband is the right one with the absence of both now over the course of multiple season, although obviously it's a shame to see the Popo talent factory come to an end.
Indeed, latin America now a bit more empty, but I'm sure enough other teams will step in their shoes, and a guy like Del Toro will find a team quite easily anyway

Scorchio and fj are two managers that i really enjoyed talking to. Disbanding them is the right call as the activity just wasnt there anymore but wouldnt mind if they returned (again) down the road.

I know we're only (or already) three months into the season, but given the pretty low overall activity in race threads and team HQs (we're down to around 10 somewhat active ones) I had a look at those managers I couldn't recall posts from in the past month or so and found that seven managers haven't been locked in for more than a month (most are actually around 2 months offline; and to be clear: that doesn't even include those who posted only 1 or 2 times nor Fabianski who already declared he wants to leave the game).
As the inactive managers include some of the usual suspects (SN, beagle, cio, Ulamog, ignacio) as well as some more surprising names (MacC and lief) and a new manager (Nisky) I thought it would be good to bring up the matter rather early in the season because it's not only about activity disbands but also about general motivation. While I understand that the game allows for different approaches in activity (which is generally fine for me) I personally find it rather annoying and (as a reporter) really discouraging that the activity is dropping that much. I haven't seen a real race discussion or a real HQ conversation in quite some time (and to be fair, I don't tend to start them myself very often). I'm not that long in the game yet, but I understand that this was much more of a thing back in the days and I would love to see that return at least in some fashion. It's kind of worrying for the entire game that Croatia14 is more active than larger parts of the active managers (at least it feels this way) although he left the game two years ago (and I really love the fact he still follows us!).
Honestly I don't have any real idea how to improve this, but I think we have to get the activity levels up again to keep this game alive.

It does seem like the game has been on a slow downhill trajectory for quite some time. In my mind it's because forums are an outdated medium and there is no tangible incentive to for activity during the season. I think discord has been a great addition, particularly during the transfer season, and any way we can shift activity to a format that people are more likely to engage with would be helpful.

Couldn't agree more KB, the forum essentially has died already other then a Fantasy NFL game and the MG. PCM 24 got 69 posts total and PCM 25 doesn't have any so to expect people to come to the forum just for MG just seem odd to me.
I'm loving the discord side of the game though i've had more chats with managers on their in 2 seasons then i ever had with another manager in my first 5 year stint. I think if managers could have race discussion on their and quickly just open the app to do so the activity would pick up. No issue with continuing to post the results on the forum if needed |
