Welcome to the 7th edition of the cobbled classic Roma Maxima. For the 3rd year in a row the race sits in the PTHC race category, meaning it attracts some of the best cobblers in the world. The last two winners Pedersen and Wisniowski are both back to duke it out again. With just under 200 km in length the race doesn't feature that much climbing, but has plenty of cobbled sections in the final part. It can be fairly selective, but a sprint from a small group is a quite likely scenario.
With that said let's look at some of the favourites:
| FL | HI | ST | RS | CB | SP | AC | Pedersen | 77 | 69 | 78 | 80 | 83 | 78 | 77 | Wisniowski | 79 | 70 | 74 | 75 | 82 | 72 | 75 | Senechal | 75 | 67 | 79 | 74 | 82 | 69 | 74 | Siric | 78 | 71 | 77 | 80 | 78 | 77 | 71 | Tiller | 74 | 70 | 76 | 75 | 79 | 74 | 73 | Spengler | 74 | 67 | 74 | 73 | 83 | 62 | 70 | Girmay | 76 | 71 | 74 | 75 | 77 | 76 | 76 | Theuns | 71 | 73 | 74 | 71 | 79 | 76 | 74 | Ovsyannikov | 74 | 68 | 75 | 72 | 77 | 79 | 78 | Jacobs | 76 | 69 | 77 | 76 | 79 | 67 | 68 | Kamyshev | 76 | 64 | 80 | 74 | 81 | 65 | 59 | Debesay | 74 | 73 | 73 | 77 | 78 | 68 | 76 | Gaday | 71 | 75 | 75 | 72 | 78 | 71 | 73 | Ferreira | 73 | 68 | 74 | 70 | 79 | 71 | 69 | Kortsidakis | 77 | 69 | 75 | 75 | 77 | 68 | 72 | Tediashvili | 75 | 70 | 76 | 78 | 76 | 71 | 71 | Rutsch | 77 | 68 | 76 | 75 | 77 | 69 | 68 | Sulimov | 73 | 70 | 77 | 71 | 79 | 65 | 71 | Salzmann | 73 | 71 | 77 | 76 | 77 | 67 | 71 |
Pedersen has been easily the best cobbler in the world this year, can he carry on his form after his double monument win? Wisniowski and Senechal should be his main competition. Both great on the cobbles and strong rouleurs, but can't quite measure up to the Dane in a sprint. Siric had his coming out party here last year and on a good day he can certainly finish well. Tiller is another fast finisher who should be well suited to the race. Spengler will need to make full use of every cobbled section as he tends to struggle otherwise. Girmay could potentially be a big threat also, but he may be busy setting up Wisniowski. The other two riders I would keep a close eye on are Theuns and Ovsyannikov. Both very fast, especially the latter is the fastest if he can survive until the end.

It should be a race that suits Pedersen well. Not that long and not that hard cobbles, but hopefully that means that we can control the race somewhat close to the finish. A good result would be great here to not slip too far down in the rankings, after a quite anonymous Giro so far.

Surprisingly weak startlist in terms of top cobblers, leaving me hopeful for Theuns to get another strong result! Pedersen, Wisniowski and Senechal should be out of reach, but I hope the final hill and the following uphill section will suit Eddie well enough to get a good outcome.
Thanks for the preview, good luck to all!

Tiller hasn't been this far up the favorite's list yet. Hope it's worth something!
Thanks for the preview! |

Well, I bring everything that I have here. Clearly not a lot of course looking at the start list, but maybe we can sneak away with a top 10.

Nice to see Ulloa active and trying something in this race. Interesting and open race to follow for the win. Congratulations Sykkel.

Very disappointng to have Tiller attentive throughout most of the race but then dropping back just before the sprint and coming last in the favorite's group where he should've had an edge over most opponents in the sprint. The rest of my team also failed to provide depth points this time. |

Yeah, sure... Theuns making a fool of himself, absolutely unacceptable result here. No clue how he could ever be that bad in a race that should really suit him. Looks like we only had a single good race this month, which definitely isn't enough.
Congrats to Assa, thanks for reports & video.

It looked pretty much like last year's race, at least the last part
I'll take 2nd place anytime since I'm not getting much scoring elsewhere. Siric has been carrying us for a while. Too bad the cobbled season is mostly over.
Thanks for the report.

Received quite some questionmarks regarding the signing of Summerhill during transfers, but he sure has made it a worthwhile one! Also decent depth from Kortsidakis and Boutopoulos here. I was a bit annoyed with Kortsidakis as he attacked. With the depth I have, the strategy should be all about seeing how many Can survive as none of Them are good enough to win from a break. But he managed to keep a steady pace also.
Very solid result!

Meh. Thought we did a good team race and then Pedersen just got too hot. No need for it really, so disappointing. I get the feeling he struggles a bit when the race is not too selective, as he's always very alert to the attacks and then he uses the matches he has too early. Thought for a second he had timed it good to let the rest catch him over the cobbles and then start the sprint under the kite, but yeah, not much more left. Also shouldn't have led out the last 3k, but AI's gonna AI.
Thanks for the report, Nemolito. And as always nice to see our good old friend Wisniowski at the top.

Gaday with his best result of the season for 6th which is much more positive from him! It looked as if he may have been able to fight it out for the win at the end there but unfortunately caught. Had enough in the tank to get a strong result though!

A very bad day for Alexandr Ovsyannikov, finishing outside the Top 50, made only worse by the fact that Summerhill, who he replaced at significant expense, was in the Top 5...
