[HC] Strade Bianche
Welcome to Tuscany, where the entirety of PCT teams will ride one of the most spectacular races in modern cycling on the eponymous white streets.
The race consists of a round around the town of Sienna, leading the riders over lots of gravel roads, though those sectors are not considered hard enough to make the race attractive to most of the cobblers. The history of the race supports their view as it’s mostly won by puncheurs. And they will be the big favourites in this year’s edition too, given the many hills the riders have to tackle. This led to big selections in the previous editions, so that only small groups went to the final sprint up to the old town of Sienna.
The race has been on the MGUCI calendar ever since 2009 and has accumulated a long and illustrious list of winners, though none of them was able to win the race twice. But McCarthy, Borges and Kelderman are here to be the first two time winner.
The most recent editions have been won by sprints from small groups, though solo wins were more common in previous editions. And though the white gravel roads of the race are infamous the winners list mostly consists of puncheurs.

With all PCT teams starting in this race it’s no surprise we see the who is who of the divisions puncheurs fighting for the win. Apart from the purer puncheurs riders like Benoot, Van Niekerk or Hirschi could profit from the constant undulations in the last part of the race.

A rare HC race for Kinoshita which actually suits him and makes him one of the main contenders. Looking forward to this one

Parcours a little easier this year as it seemed to be tilting to the hybrids which feels wrong for Strade. Startlist seems to focus on traditional puncheurs so that is apparently the lesson managers have taken.
There are some cool parcours with Level 1 cobbles that bring the classics guys into the race but I found the break kept winning in those versions. I think 24 handles dirt roads more specifically so that might be possible in future versions.
Narvaez probably out of his depth here but we can hope.

Benoot didn't do well here last season, so we're hoping for an improvement. It's his first hilly outing of the season as well. Support should be decent, so hopes are high.
Thanks for the preview

We really need Stannard to step up to his role here. Given how we've been fumbling the odd little semichances we manage to find the room for failure has been exhausted. So please Rob, do your thing.

For a HC race we needed a better result than ninth. Somewhat disappointed with that actually.
Thanks for the report kandesbunzler and congrats Gustavovskiy!

Stannard stepped up, congrats to Gus.
Narvaez surprised me by being in the final group at the finish but didn't have enough left for meaningful points.
Thanks for the report.

Quite an anonymous race for us for the most part, with Benoot waking up at the right moment and taking 2nd. This was a great result given how poorly we did here last season.
Congrats to Gustav and thanks for the report kb

Thanks kandesbuzler for the report and congrats Gustav!
Good to have two riders in the bunch, but then finishing 17th and 19th is a bummer. Onto the next one!

Not quite the placement we had hoped for from Meurisse but he didn't completely fall through the floor so we are thankful for that. Thanks for the report and congrats to Gustav on a nice win for Stannard!
