Uhm, excuse me? WHY? WHAT? HOW?
This was definitely really unexpected but I wont complain about it. Incredible result and he grabbed now our first win this season! I cant really say much about this because I am too surprised and happy.
Well done from Harm. We know this will be a really hard race the next stages but with this its already a success. And If we get a Top 10 at the end this will be a huge success!
Thanks for the report, reading it for a W is even more enjoyable ????

Way to go!
Yes, a podium was in reach, but somewhat glad we didn't push too hard, as we'll need to stay fresh and focus for the coming days. Still a decent result for a hilly rated stage, and that nets us some points.
Also Itturia was attentive enough and finishes close to Jorgenson, which is good.
Another chance tomorrow then.
Thanks for the report, and congrats Ezee!

Not the best but Davila and Rodriguez lost no time so good start. The TTT will set us back obviously but hopefully not too far.
Great report to start and congrats to the winner!

Thanks for the report and notes.
A bit scary how far we were back in the images (completely out of them) and in the final result but all the key guys made the front group, if we can put in a decent TTT hopefully we can be more attentive on the climbing stages.

Worrying to see Berhane lose time completely needlessly for the second race in a row, and much more worrying to see how close Penasa was to joining him. What's the point of having such an experienced team if they don't show a bit of race intelligence? Now it's all about surviving the flat stage as uneventfully as possible and then hopefully the TTT and the mountains should be better for us.

At least we answered the question of what would happen if no favourites turn up for the sprints, the game throws a tantrum and everyone sprints from 3km to go
Not too many breakaway notes Barcelo is strongest by far again
Sprint was just wacky if I had to guess think Van Uden ran out of stamina early and that just threw everyone off
Korosec got blocked by a rider coming back think it's the Euskadi one in the picture.
Slight apology there's one missing picture halfway through the sprint of the overhead so you miss Mcgill and Frame to the right of Dzamstagic but neither was going forward at the end very much the two strongest riders were top 2 so maybe this is the best sprint of the season so far

Thanks for the report.
We didnt expect anything for Stage 2. We havent a team build for this also so nothing realy happened for us, nobody lost time. All good. Lets see how the next stages will go.

Yes Hugo! Always nice to get a stage win with a French rider. Smart riding too.
Now the big things begin. Let's hope we'll not botch this edition...
Thanks for the report!

Thanks for the reports, good racing so far.
Really silly to see two of my climbers lose time on Stage 1. I'm hopeful the TTT brings us into contention for a decent GC (but that seems to be everybody's plan)

Not much fun for us so far, but that should change soon.

Good little 7th place from Welsford. Not bad for a back up sprinter.
Still in a decent position however as mentioned as soon as the TTT hits I don’t have a lot of hope. Hopefully it’s close enough or we surprise so we can stay up the order a bit

Not happy that all 8 SEE Turtles couldn't make the split on Day 1 - but we knew this race wasn't really for us. We came here for stage 3 and then realized that riders needed to show up elsewhere to make the biggest difference. Maybe, maybe we could still grab a good result that gives us a point or two.
Frame for 4th guarantees that we gain at least a tiny something from these days, but we knew from the beginning that we would never be succeeding here. More breakaways please!

Thank you for the reports so jar jt!
We are built for tours like this mostly so we need something out of it of course. But if we remember how it went at Tachira we are already happy Carapaz didnt lose 7 minutes this time so far
We are not that good on the TTT front but hopefully Carapaz can shine a bit during the next stages!
Congratulations to the winners of the first 2 Stages! |

Utter Carnage as with usual on TT profile what looks like a speed bump is a hill and what looks more than that can cause some real problems.
Weirdly PCM seems to use TT skills on these hills a lot (as we've seen in Mountain TT's before this season such as in Tachira) so as soon as they hit the hills bad TT guys just get dropped nearly instantly and when there are 3 or 4 of them on the course its a recipe for disaster for some teams.
Nice to PCM use some sense for some teams, Babymetal for example has a bad TTT squad but they rode a lot more conservatively to keep everyone together compared to Zain.
At the front very few gaps cause should make for an exciting next few days especially as Jorgenson doesn't have the strongest support mostly Quinn and Madrazo

Thanks JT.
I mean dropping Squire and Mannion might seem like a bad move but they had already lost time so I think if this means they will support Main (or attack) then that's a good move and probably meant we could go quicker today...nice to be competitive in a TTT again, pheww!

"We are not that good for TTT" I think we even overestimated us here. That was a really bad TTT from us. I was aware we would lose on this but over 4 minutes? Thats really bad and brings me down to earth again. Now I can just hope for the individual strength of Carapaz to climb up the mountains and classement again.
Congratulations to Newton for the win here. And thank you also for the report again JT! |

I was slightly disappointed with the team on the TTT, but I guess it could have been worse Good luck for the upcoming stages!
