Very interested in the race total points after this one. A surprise win for Hilcona and a great couple stages so far.
Very surprised at how Stage 4 ran, but let's see how some of those GC leaders attack over the upcoming days.
Think this and some other races so far have shown us that there's major struggles in trying to lead a multi-faceted team in races. GC or top sprinter, but both together is causing trouble.

Welten has been rated the top sprinter in all five flat stages/races so far this CT season. He has finished 17th, 5th, 9th, 12th and 7th. Thanks PCM
Fingers crossed Inigo can show us something more exciting in the mountains.

Ahhhh what…surely that is a fatigue thing? Bennett losing that much is just weird. Davila up there only 10 seconds behind and Bennett still absolutely in the race but a bit weird that he wins a hill stage and loses something much time in a MTT. I hope it’s just because of his bad TT ability.
Anyway congrats to the winner and let’s move on to the next mountain stage

Iturria being Iturria, i.e anonymosly cruising to a good GC position.
Problem is, we don't have the team to support a leader jersey, so next stage(s) will be hard. It's probably better to let go the likes of Benett or Carapaz than to crumble, but we'll see.
Thanks for the reports!

WOW the TT/PRL stat has massively impacted the Mountain TT did not expect that huge for Ziga gutting he missed the break on stage 4 by literally meters or he would have been right up there for the GC lead.
Thanks for the report KB |

From the outside, nice to see the MTT spicing things up a bit
Unlike some others, I (and probably jandal as well ) fully expected Bennett to lose a lot of time here. Looking at last year's outcome in this particular MTT clearly gives some hints. Berhane was very similar to 2024 Bennett in terms of climbing and TT skills, and almost lost 2 minutes as well.
There are still some "purer" MTTs where climbing matters much more (like Mt. Fuji, where Bennett finished 5th last year), but as soon as the terrain is pretty undulating and has flat sections, TTing is very important. In that sense, I guess the top favourites delivered.
Will be interesting to see how the race unfolds on the next three days now - still easily enough time for Bennett to get that minute back, plus an additional one he'll probably need on the final day. Definitely looking forward to some more Bennett (and Carapaz?) fireworks in the high mountains
Congrats to the winners so far, and nice to see that Caspi still got a stage win despite Page not being up to his task anymore on the other sprint stages.

Solid ride from Inigo. Bennett falling back was a little surprising for me but, like Fabianski said, history wasn't on his side. Time for the high mountains!

Arensman cashing in a stage, at least. What a releaf, and also nice to steal some points with Rudy earlier in the race aswell.
Let's see how the next stages treats us!
Great reporting, as allways also

Main doing enough to put himself in contention for a decent GC. Surprised that the TT factor seemed at least as important as the MO stat here.
Good to see Archie Ryan introduce himself with the KOM

Smith hanging on, and Figueiredo sticking around as well. Bring on the proper mountains, let's see how good Smith's form is.
Thanks for the report KB, and congrats to hillis. Arensman's domination in U25 was a foregone conclusion without Jorgenson, but he's done well to secure the stage there as well. Aycon with some nice scoring from Zain-Omantel, rescuing this race with quite a few appealing stages for Carapaz still to come.

Had me worried that Bennett was going to be dropped there for a second. Another great podium! No gaps but I feel like the next stage will be extremely decisive with huge gaps. Good work from Bennett and Davila staying at the front and keeping their GC positions. Happy with today. Hopefully Bennett has the legs to get some separation tomorrow.
Congrats to the winner and thanks for another great report!

Solid ride for us, to earn some bonus seconds on a stage like this. Happy to see other teams work for Iturria, for once.
Two more mountain stages to go. Keep up the good work team!

The less said about this race the better, would've been a good opportunity to get in the break, but not to be.

Good to see all 3 mountain capable riders finish in the top group, but Smith clearly didn't have it in stage 7. Hopefully that was just an off-form day. If there was a stage to have an off day, it would be the one where others are putting in big attacks and ending up with same time results. On to the next one, where hopefully our boys will be amped up for some proper climbing!
Congrats to hillis (again) and thanks KB.

Egger in a breakaway was a weird strategic move given he could've been serviceable support to Smith, but thanks to his good sprint performances on the KoM climbs, might actually pay off with some decent points.
Good to see Smith attempting something, just wish he had waited for the descent (which he actually has an advantage in), exactly as Kozhatayev did. Awesome to see such a devastating, possibly GC-winning attack for Caspi, congrats to him!

This isnt going like we hoped this will be. There isnt much left so i dont think there will happen a huge turnaround for us with Carapaz. But in the brightside Borisavljevic is doing well. Maybe we will can set some highlights on th remaining stages.
In general thank you for the reporting so far and in the future! and congratulations to our opponents, some do a great job there! |

Lemus Davila is racing really well which is good to see. 3rd on GC and a good TT rider so might even be able to get into 2nd maybe.
Bennett in 7th and has to try not to lose anymore then a minute which I don’t think will happen. Unfortunately he just lost a bit of time in the MTT and could only manage to stay with the favourites until stage 9. Still if he can finish top 10 with Davila on the podium then that is still an excellent Tachira for us.
Excited to see the final stage of the race. Congrats to the winner for stage 8 and 9 and more excellent reports!
