Welcome back to the Glanbia Team HQ.
For those who don't know Glanbia are an Irish team entering their sixth year. Generally, an all-round team with a special love for Time Trials and a dislike of Classics.
| Division | Points | Position | Notes | Top Scorer | | 2019 | Continental | 1286 | 9th | CT debut | Freddy Cruz | 226 | 2020 | Continental | 846 | 16th (-7) | Tough Second Album | Sam Bennett | 188 | 2021 | Continental | 1245 | 10 (+6) | Learning.... | Dan Martin | 244 | 2022 | Continental | 1380 | 3 (+7) | Promoted | Andrew Talanksy | 385 | 2023 | Pro-Continental | 1804 | 21st | PCT debut/relegated | Ryan Eastman | 936 |
As you can see last year saw the team's first year outside the CT ended in failure. I say "failure" but is it a failure if you win the Tour of America? Because that's what Ryan Eastman did by a few seconds in, by a million miles, the biggest win in Glanbia history
His points total in that one season alone makes him Glanbia's all time top scorer by far and away while Dylan Kennett's impressive first season also moved him instantly into Glanbia's all-time list
936 | Ryan Eastman | USA | 2023- | 562 | Freddy Cruz | USA | 2019-2022 | 554 | Sam Bennett | IRL | 2019- | 494 | Sean Downey | IRL | 2019- | 445 | Lawson Craddock | USA | 2019-2022 | 424 | Tyler Brandt | USA | 2019-2022 | 381 | Andrew Talansky | USA | 2022 | 345 | Dylan Kennett | NZL | 2023- | 245 | Dan Martin | IRL | 2021-2022 | 201 | Michael Ford | AUS | 2019-2020 |
Of the above list Sam Bennett and Sean Downey have been with Glanbia for every season so far...

Congrats again for that huge ToA achievement! Sad to see you back down in CT, but I'm sure you learnt a lot from your PCT experience and will bounce back in no time

The Renewals reveal.
Obviously a certain Tour of America winner must be sold. Let's hear the bids!
Otherwise mainly focusing on getting loans out. Some of the "probablys", maybe even "the wants to stays" and maybe even the "Not for Sales" will have to go so ask away...
I am basically looking at at least a two year promotion plan in all likelihood.
Juneau. Dinham and Cheyne all had to released...

With Eastman going to leave there's no real leader left apart from Kennett, so you're probably right that promotion is at least a two year operation. But with quite some talents going to get their final touch in the PT promotion could actually be an option in 2025. Best of luck in transfers nonetheless!

The Irish talents are coming. If you could sell Eastman to the PT that would be preferable. Good luck with the offseason.

I second that! Curious what you'll do with all that Eastman cash and the cap space that'll remain afterwards, I'll be rooting for you

I'm sure the sale of Eastman will be able to facilitate the restructure of the team for a strong season in CT.

So that's 2/3 of last year's ToA podium listed for transfers, pretty interesting situation I have to admit...

Looks like you’ve got 3 of your 4 highest paid riders potentially on the block - that’ll make this transfer season a fun one for you if nothing else!
You’ll be hoping for someone to deliver a pot of gold for Eastman, I guess

Interesting transfer period ahead for you. The wad of cash you’ll get for Eastman should let you bring in a pretty decent rider or two - curious about what direction the team will go.

Eastman one of the bigger names on the block this season. I'm just not sure where the money from his sale will go?

I know it's basically impossible but just imagine Eastman in CT. You can't deny it would be fun.
Regarding your future, I wouldn't be so sure it's a 2+ year promotion plan necessarily, although it all falls on how you spin the Eastman sale here, and your desire for talents. Good luck!

Actually did the math and it was possible to keep Eastman, a roster of 50k guys and a coupe of stagiares at 10k . Decided against !

In a shocking twist Glanbia's first new signing is a young Irish rider:
Liam Crowley (not be confused with Liam Curley). Crowley has the makings of a classics man- hill or cobbles at some far distant point

...is "Liam" the new "Seán" ? With McKenna on the sales block Glanbia are facing into campaign with only one "Seán"...unprecedented!
Even more unprecedented is the complete lack of Americans in the team to date...surely the sponsors won't let this slide?

As transfers near conclusion Glanbia announces its expected "leadership" for its return to CT racing.
In a change from Glanbia tradition there is no single Stage Race leader dominating all others. Manager MacC hopes the new set-up will mean Glanbia can challenge on all terrains and marks the beginning of a two-year strategy to get back to the PCT.
Dylan Kennett proved himself a very competitive sprinter even at PCT level last year and a lot will rest on his shoulders.
US legend Ian Boswell joins to add the hilly classics and short stage races profile while Tom David hopes to do the same on cobbles.
Kent Main will be asked to bring home top 5s and 10s on Stage Races while O'Loughlin leads the TT set-up which will not be the great team of the past (this year)

Pretty solid leadership setup for CT I guess, although the traditional weakness in the mountains is back after Eastman's expected departure.
But is that "79" in O'Loughlin's TT stat a mistake, or is that really some juicy training? I guess some other managers wouldn't be happy with that
