Congrats Kaiser, a much needed (and celebrated Wink) win in the relegation fight. For us all that counts today is APP made the split and though it's another bad day for many other teams and their GC ambitions it surely doesn't hurt ours - and in the promotion fight we'll happily take any advantage we get. Tomorrow will probably be another stage to just survive without time loss before the stages which are interesting for us begin.

Congrats Gustav! Hayakawa is on fire lately.
And thanks for another fine report, Ulrich! But I could have well done without the suspense of the early split though everything's fine for us in the end. Now the three deciding days of the season are ahead with the remaining two stages here and Zuri. It could be some good results and points in it, but also big disappointments. I actually prefer to not have to worry about the side effects of a bad result (like not promoting) while awaiting the reports ...

More breakaway is good, and Lagane seems up for it. Could we actually get some points from this race? Time to find out...

6th isnt too bad. Courtesy of having to chase down the break. Happy that Afewerki is able to keep the GC and points jersey for another day. It means extra points! Didn’t expect us to get loads in Euskal so this takes a little more pressure off. Japan Cup and Emilia still to go after this. We might just make it!

Congrats to the winner and thank you UU for another great report

We didn't bring any sprinters here, so now the race begins for us.
Please don't let us down now Dyrnes!

Stoked for Hayakawa. Have the feeling he'd bring more victories if this wasn't his last race of the season.

Thanks for the report and the congrats!

Love to see what Yzeiraj is doing, battling for the First place in the KOM Standings, Hopefully he can bring the jersey home.

Pretty strong couple of months for Page, getting another stage podium here Smile Just as Gustav said for Hayakawa (congrats on the stage win btw!), the end of the season seems to come too early for Dylan, but if he comes up with some reasonable wage demands I could imagine him finally getting a renewal for once Pfft
Good to see both Theuns and Errazkin positioned well, hopefully some positive signs for the remaining two stages.

Thanks for the report!

Simply put - I am fuming. Did the team decide that Hoelgaard was the superior option to Démare? Idiots. Absolute idiots. Especially when you look at who else actually managed to survive the split. Have definitely learnt a LOT about the mistakes to avoid when planning for next year.

Thanks for the reports UU.

Just some awful stuff going on this year, feel for you there. Not sure if it's the game version not gelling with old profiles or it's just bad Sad
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

To be expected to be dropped. But disappointed other sprinters made it. Feel for Demare missing out but PCM be PCMing.

Congrats to the winner and thanks for the report.

I'm not getting my hopes up yet, i've been burned too many times this season. So i'll bank a nice stage finish there from Lagane and at least a couple of points.

Decent stage for us with Gesbert as least trying something. Unfortunately the climbs just weren't hard enough. Good to see Chaves coming in with the first group as well. Hopefully we can do something on the final stage which has an uphill sprint that should suit Gesbert better. We need to improve in the GC standings to still have a chance of promotion come Giro dell'Emilia.

Not great, not awful - just good enough I'd say. It's a pity that Schmid has already started his vacation instead of competing in a race that should really suit him, but it looks like he just doesn't like being "only" the team's co-leader.
Theuns couldn't quite keep up with the top puncheurs, which is fair - but still a bit disappointing given that Aniolkowski or Hayakawa made the split. Even D. Page could've done so (but definitely not expected to).
So we're down to Errazkin as our GC contender. 5th place is definitely a fine result given his lack of finisher skills; now he'll have to keep up with the top puncheurs one more time to potentially take home a Top 10. If nothing miraculous happens, we'll score less than last year, given the lack of depth we now end up with - but no complaints looking at some really lucky races we had. And looking at some other teams in this race...

Commiserations especially to Tryg, no clue what PCM was doing here. I guess almost every manager would get at least a podium finish with Démare when playing this stage... And Eiking's stupid time loss on day 1 makes even less sense now. Time to get this season done, the AI needs a break.

Last but not least, congrats to P4E, I'd say an expectable Aniolkowski win on an unexpected stage Pfft

Thanks for the report!

what an awkward scenario. glad to take the lead but would have prefered to see Guerreiro take that prize. We're going to need a 2nd miracle result like this one to get any GC points from here.

Congrats on the win fj and thanks for another great report UU!

Congrats fj for the win and thanks again to Ulrich for the report, though it once again did not give me a good time with APP not being mentionedin as part of the first group. Thank god he made it and remained in a good GC position. Now he has to do it again (or even better) tomorrow to get us some nice points out of the race.

On a side note commiserations to lief, though I actually would have betted Demare won't win the GC. He's so clearly the favourite it's no surprise he has to chase down any attacks on his own or let them go, because who wamts to finish with him? I think that's actually a quite realistic behaviour (which of course doesn't make it less frustrating).

Well, Démare did win TDU, although without the domination we would've seen in other game versions.
Your point of Démare having to cover all attacks isn't wrong - but given that Tryg had Hoelgaard in the front group, it doesn't make too much sense in this situation, either.
It rather looked like a PCM choice to prefer better hybrids if a team had any, maybe expecting the final stage to be too hard for the rather one-dimensional puncheurs. But even then, dropping the best sprinter in the race while sprinters with far weaker hill stats make the cut feels wrong. Well, it's PCM I guess - you have to be happy if any of your riders makes the split, and if you're lucky (like e.g. Assa here), you get more than one... But the outcome we got here doesn't look realistic to me tbh (also with Houle not being competitive against other sprinters who should be far more tired after the hills).

Ulrich Ulriksen
There are definitely AI shenanigans in these hilly races but in following the race for the report I didn't think Demare missing a split here was one of them. Since a bunch of folks commented I thought I would weigh in.

I meant to go back and look to see exactly how the split occurred in the replay but forgot. But pretty sure what I described below is right.

Its the final downhill of the race, there were lots of attack on the climb and everyone is on the limit before they start downhill. Then on the downhill Eriksson is pushing the pace on the front and someone loses the wheel and suddenly their is a significant gap with no time to organize the chase. Demare would have been in the first 20 riders when they hit the flat so it isn't like he was stupidly out of position, maybe just a few riders too far back and maybe he is the one who lost the wheel (63 DH). Hoelgaard was exactly where he should have been preparing to control attacks into the finish and he didn't drop back because it was too late. So he went for it himself which was the right call. It all felt pretty realistic to me.

Was it unlucky and does it suck for the Lief, absolutely yes, but I would put in the bucket of bad race luck not bad AI luck.

TIVANI MAKES THE FINAL GROUP?! Tivani was not supposed to be our GC rider here, but no complaints that he finds his way into a scoring GC position.

A weird set of results across the board but a lovely trip through the Basque country. Congrats to our Caribbean friends on a great GC win!

Woooo another set of points here. Definitely more than I had planned for. If Wilco scores in Japan Cup we might not need a top 3 in Emilia to jump over Zwift. What an end to the season!

Congrats to the winner and thanks for the report!
