Yeah, guess that was a mistake. Would definitely have preferred Philipsen, Laporte or Pedersen, but position was too low this time. Plus, I had to do the draft list rather quickly in the end, due to some familiary reasons.
Still, Kooij should be good - when he actually races. I suppose he'll mostly go to stage races, unfortunately, but if he can win a classic or two I'll be happy. Still feels like the wrong choice, but can't do much about it anymore.
Welsford in R2 feels a bit expensive, but it could still pay off. He was our 2nd best scorer last year - as a R13 pick, which would definitely not happen again this time - and his season start was rather promising with three stage wins in TDU. He already was one of the fastest sprinters in these classics last year, and he doesn't mind some cobbles, either, so that feels like a solid choice.
However, not overly happy with R3. Was hoping Hirschi wouldn't go in R2 already, but unfortunately he did. He was on my list for R2 as well, but behind Welsford... Küng wasn't high on my list anyway after his ITT WC crash, so Schmid finally was the "lucky" one. Not really a clue what to expect from him, but I hope that after his transfer he'll get to do some more classics, but he could as well end up with zero points... We'll see.
Overall, I guess it wasn't a great R1-3 for me, but we'll see... The W are definitely looking great, especially if Girmay gets back to 2022 mode...

Hoping for a breakout from Vermeersch. Just glad I got Powless.

The Van Aert - Benoot combo can go really good or really bad, but I was ok with it. Then I just saw my picks for R3 disappear one by one and had to settle for Teuns, who didn't have the best season last year. I'd say the 59'ers or Zondagcoureurs had the best picks in R1.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Philipsen was actually my first choice, so getting him in 4th place was nice. Hirschi in the second round was as good as it could get at this position and with Pidcock gone early the home nation picks won't contribute much anyway, so Wright should be okay. But with the biggest name gone, the more interesting rounds start

Girmay wasn't really my first choice just figured there were a bunch of guys I wouldn't get and didn't worry about the order. So kind of surprised, now we need to hope for the bounce back. Thought he looked hungry at TDU.
MVDP seemed liked the obvious round 2 section and pretty pleased with Bagioli, he was really good at the end of last year so hoping he can bring that to the spring classics.

So, it's just been pointed out I did make a mistake (I'm blaming the Mohoric guy for this one). Luckily it only results in one switch. Mohoric and Evenepoel trade teams. My apologies to Cunego for this inconvenience!

Draft Rounds 4-6
Don't you just hate it when you want to do the draft, but your boss wants you to get some work done instead? Anyway, I hurried up (and probably made more mistakes) but here we are. Unfortunately Ivaneurope missed the deadline, he can PM me his choices now and I'll add them before the next round.
A lot of variety in all 3 rounds, meaning there were quite some top picks available. I hope everyone is happy!
| Macros | Hornets | Racoons | Cobblers | Fainthearts | Zondagcoureurs | Bombers | Red Lanterns | Hussars | 59'ers | Ice Tulips | Spokes | Rogues | W | R4 | HAGENES Per Strand | MIHKELS Madis | ONLEY Oscar | MAGNIER Paul | ASKEY Lewis | GREGOIRE Romain | PAGE Hugo | VAN UDEN Casper | AYUSO Juan | VAN EETVELT Lennert | SHEFFIELD Magnus | LAURANCE Axel | PITHIE Laurence | VAUQUELIN Kevin | R5 | LAMPAERT Yves | GROENEWEGEN Dylan | KRON Andreas | KWIATKOWSKI Michal | BETTIOL Alberto | EWAN Caleb | TRENTIN Matteo | MEEUS Jordi | BILBAO Pello | COSTA Rui | BOASSON HAGEN Edvald | MATTHEWS Michael | ASGREEN Kasper | JAKOBSEN Fabio | R6 | MENTEN Milan | PARET-PEINTRE Aurelien | VAN GILS Maxim | TURGIS Anthony | COSNEFROY Benoit | GAUDU David | BOIVIN Guillaume | MOZZATOÂ Luca | VAN WILDER Ilan | POLITT Nils | BURGAUDEAU Mathieu | DEL TORO Isaac | ZINGLE Axel | LAFAY Victor |
Up next:
R7: A rider from a PCT team
R8: A rider who was in a PCT team last year
R9: A rider from your home nation or a country bordering it (pick only one country)
R10: Free pick
So that's 4 rounds, make sure I get them by Tuesday noon 12h00!
After that, some stuff will happen:
Spoiler SWITCH SWITCH SWITCH!!!
The draft order will be cut in half and reserved. From R11 on, the draft order will be:
1 BBL Bombers
2 Nemolito Zondagscoureurs
3 Fab's Fainthearts
4 KB Cobblers
5 Alexkr's Racoons
6 Laurens147 Hornets
7 Marcovdw Macros
8 UU W
9 Ollfardh Rogues
10 Seancoll Spokes
11 IE Ice Tulips
12 Cunego's 59ers
13 Jaxika Hussars
14 Bikex Red Lanterns
And I will ask for:
R11: A rider from the country with most riders after R10 (your pick in case of a tie)
R12: A rider from your home nation
R13: Free pick

How did I not think of Asgreen?
Ewan is a gamble, as his schedule is also very unsure. Hopefully Gaudu can do somehing nice in the few hilly classics he goes to, and Gregoire can repeat his results from last year.

The switch of the draft order really screws me over. I get to pick last in the two rounds where I pick from the same pool as others, but in the round I get to pick first I wouldn't have had rivals for the 2 remaining Slovenian WT riders anyways.
I'm not really happy about that, as being in the middle of the pack I wasn't really in a favorable position anyways.
I feel like the measure was supposed to bring more fairness, but for me does the opposite.
Maybe do the switch already for the upcoming rounds? That I would like. |

So one more mistake from me. Meeus goes to the Red Lanterns, meaning Costa can go to the 59'ers. Kristoff is therefore not drafted.

It was indeed my attempt to get the teams in the middle some more excitement. It will stay that way until the end of the game, so it will also benefit you in R14 and R16. But if too many people are against it, we can keep the current draft order.

Well, definitely not happy with R4 and R6, whereas for R5 the order was far less important. Pithie, Vauquelin, Grégoire, Van Uden all gone, so Askey it is. No particularly big hopes, but at least he should ride lots of classics. Will he score? Far less than those I had higher up, but I hope he'll get some minor points.
Bettiol in R5 - what was I thinking? I can't remember... Maybe some silent hopes he'll reach his 2019 level again? He probably won't, and I can only blame myself for that pick...
Cosnefroy in R6 - well, I was definitely hoping for Zingle, but with all the Belgian teams going for Frenchies, that was unfortunately not going to happen with the reversed order. Benoît definitely isn't a world beater, but he should ride quite some classics, including some minor French ones, so there's hope for some decent results.
All in all, I'm wondering what I was thinking when doing the draft lists, thinking that some far stronger riders would still have been available in most cases... We'll see. I think the W and the Rogues had some great picks this round.

I'll also stand with the opinion that the Rogues end up with the best 3 rounds here. Probably have to put the 59ers and Macros in a great position as well. The Menten pick his a huge one.
Really surprised that I got my top pick in Matthews for Round 5. I just imagine Jayco is going to send him everywhere on the major classics calendar. Also happy to get Laurance.
More and more regretting stationing my team in the US, especially after a late R4 Sheffield addition makes R9 even harder.

Well can't beat first choice in all 3 rounds. Had a lot of the other GT stage winners drafted on my list so glad Jakobsen lasted. Missed Asgreen though, glad I wouldn't have got him anyway. Pretty excited about Vaquelin, 2nd in Etoile and should be all over the French semi-classics.

3x Top Pick here as well, so I'm happy. Pithie and Zingle I thought I had a good chance, Asgreen was a complete surprise to get though.

I like the change of draft order, but maybe it could be a consideration to switch Rounds 11 and 12 (or 12 and 13)? That way, the two rounds where it is indeed more important to have a higher pick don't go through the same order. Maybe something to keep in mind in general when there are multiple rounds in a batch where it's clearly more important to have a higher pick (so if you say R14 and R16 are more favorable to have a higher pick in, swap 15 with one of those, too?).
Happy with Man Game Bralirwan Van Eetvelt, and Rui Costa returns from last year. Politt should hopefully be solid, too. Would've loved to have Asgreen for the next home country round, but that was always unlikely.

Happy to get Meeus. A shame Ayuso didn't drop down all the way to me.
