Edmondson and Chiarello are two great leaders at this level that should put you back into promotion contention. Berckmoes is such a cool rider as well suits two niches that makes him useful once maxed!

Maybe you had cap problems, but those Carapaz and Campenaerts deals were not cool at all

Agree with red, never cool when you're forced into unprofitable deals. Campenaerts would've been one of the division's top TTers, and I doubt Rathe + 200k can make up for those lost points.
And while I fully agree with SotD that Chiarello is a better rider than Carapaz, the latter is two years younger and has some more long-term value. Paying a little fee was fully OK, but I feel that 1M is far too much. But yeah, you were facing one of the MG world's top sellers And if it was the only way to bring you out of misery, well, it was the only way ^^
Hopefully you'll be able to bounce back quickly - and then maybe back to "classic crabpack style" in PCT?

Some very solid additions! Edmondson had a rough time last season, but he should be able to perform this time around. Berckmoes is a very interesting talent imo. Personally I would have gone the cobbler route with Rubenis as well, but maybe you thought he looked too much like Berckmoes that way? Best of luck this season

I agree with your comments The option about keeping Carapaz was long on the table, that's why I sought out cheap 50k in FA (Kireva, English, De Vriendt) to hold on to my cap space.
But then the bidding war on Chatarunga started. I wanted to avoid ending up without a cobbles leader, especially here in CT with some teams not focussing on it. And all my goals are orientated on these cobbles classics I thought about Chequan Richardson as alternative, but his backup stats aren't really comparable to Chatarunga.
I had other offers of Carapaz, but they were more pure climbers without TT skills. In basically every CT stage race you have an ITT or TTT, so that is why I chose Chiarello. Just to give you my reasoning behind it. Looking from the outside, I agree that 1 Mio was a big overpay.
Losing Campenaerts is my own fault ofcourse.

I should have tried harder for Campanaerts!
Sorry for the loss, but anyway Chiarello and Edmondson are scary. I'm not looking forward to racing against you.
At least, I should not mind Chatarunga too much

I understand completely the Carapaz move, I was forced to do a similar one. You got a better rider in return, but I was considering my financial losses Quintana put me through. Well, it is what it is and we need to look forward. You have some nice additions to the team and I personally have fond memories of Axel Zingle riding for us last year. It was also obvious you will never forget the cobbles, they are an important part of your team identity.
Good luck in the new season!

Tbh if I didn't see you were also chasing Chatarunga I would have left you Chequan at 50k. But i then knew you were unlikely to fight too hard for a 50k rider, so coming out at 65k worked well for me.
The team is still solid. And you've learned now to just not deal with SotD in transfers (how do people keep falling for this?!) I think promotion back to the PCT won't be too difficult at all!

Chiarello will give a lot of people some headache. With the lack of cobble depth in CT Chatarunga should be a huge W for you. And if Edmondson can get back to previous years he should be another one with strong pts for you. I hope I can gain a little advantage in TT's and maybe sprints.
General also a nice batch of talents. Good luck for the season!

Indeed, Chiarello should be the best stage racer in CT. Sadly, he likely doesn't have enough support for TTT-heavy races like Catalunya, Trentino or Vancouver, but I can't really see anyone beating him in races like Tachira. However, his big disadvantage compared to most other strong climbers is that he has no support. I mean, absolutely no support, with the next best "climber" being Edmondson... If he can deal with that, he should be great - if that does become an issue, you might be disappointed by the outcome.
Edmondson , on the other hand, has a strong track record in CT, and while he's a pure puncheur who will struggle in more hybrid races, he should be rocking the "true" hilly races alongside KHJ and Eiking
As mentioned by Ezee, Chatarunga is among the division's better cobblers, and he's shown last year that he can be pretty successful in CT. Guess that's some good points for you as well
Otherwise, I guess there's mainly Liepins potentially contributing some points, but in general your roster lacks some depth to back up the leaders. It looks like you're in rebuild mode after all those (mostly expected) moves, and I'm afraid Chiarello, Edmondson and Chatarunga won't be enough for you to bounce back this year. But I'll happily take a surprisingly good showing by your team

Chiarello alone could put you into the promotion hunt. Edmondson could then push you that position up to bounce back up, and if not him then Liepeins/Altanzul and Chatarunga cuold get you there. And a range of talents. Pieces in place, hopefully it all comes together, otherwise the age of your leaders could cause an issue in 2024.

Whereas it's correct that the main language in Lugano is Italian, it is definitely located in Switzerland
Apart from the cobbles, I guess we hardly ever meet this year - so we'll hopefully see each other more frequently next year when you're back in PCT

Strong leaders in your squad! Edmondson should do well here as theres more of a focus on him as the leader .I think my issue was I had 3 riders who could lead my hills squad at once and he needed support which he didn't recieve. He should do much better I hope! Keen to see how Altanzul does as well!
Strong stage race leader too. I expect to see you in the promotion hunt!

You've got some nice captains on your team, but I'm intrigued to see how Chiarello will do without much support in the mountains (and probably TTTs too). Edmondson should be a threat in all hilly races, but he (too) has nearly no support except from Smirnovs, so he's probably not going to dominate those races.
But as you're one of the few teams that goes for the cobbles you should have some solid scoring altogether nonetheless.

Great start into the season and Chiarello still has a good Catalunya result to add. I think we'll see you around the top of the rankings (and races of course) all season.
