The final first round picks.
With Joseph Ivan Samudio and Manada Coyote, we have a case of a team signing a rider who they had last season! The national champion of Panama no less.
Speaking of national champions, high chance the next pick can become one at the end of this season. Fagundez is the first and only Uruguayan to ride for a team this season.
And finally - a total ManGame legend. Michael van Stayen's peak years were probably around 2016 to 2020 with regular Top 30 PT Individual Standings finishes for Evonik. He was still in the PT last year, and this year we will see his hill and sprint skills take on CT.
Joseph Ivan Samudio | Manada Coyote | Eric Antonio Fagundez | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | Michael Van Stayen | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team |
| | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | PL | XP | Age | OVL | PAN | J. Samudio | 72 | 54 | 60 | 64 | 71 | 69 | 67 | 65 | 66 | 67 | 67 | 3.05 | 24 | 67.5 | URU | E. I couldn't leave Samudio hanging, he was with us from the start and I believe he deserves to continue his development.

Joey Rosskopf has had a long and varied MG career, and his all around abilities on climbing and time trialling mean he still attracts an interest, even after a couple of declines!
Filippo Zana is a Level 2 rider, but this will mark his first MG competition.
Philip Lavery has been around much longer - riding in PT last season. He was the second strongest by OVL rider left available to be picked in the draft. If Manada Coyote didn't swoop him up, there was another team hoping to get him as their 2nd pick later on.
Caja Rural pick up a second Spaniard in the draft. Here is quite a niche pick - quite probably the first rider who will make their MG debut having already gone through a stats decline.
Joey Rosskopf | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Filippo Zana | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | Philip Lavery | Manada Coyote | Jesus Ezquerra | Caja Rural Cycling Team |
| | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | PL | XP | Age | OVL | USA | J. Rosskopf | 70 | 70 | 72 | 73 | 68 | 66 | 65 | 54 | 58 | 65 | 74 | Max | 34 | 70.3 | ITA | F. Zana | 66 | 67 | 68 | 65 | 68 | 67 | 67 | 62 | 67 | 70 | 63 | 2.00 | 24 | 69.0 | IRL | P. Lavery | 68 | 70 | 75 | 63 | 74 | 70 | 66 | 62 | 66 | 76 | 63 | Max | 33 | 73.7 | ESP | J. Ezquerra | 68 | 64 | 70 | 61 | 67 | 69 | 64 | 57 | 68 | 69 | 64 | Max | 33 | 69.8 |
Last update for now I'm afraid, I'm out for the evening after this. 15 picks remain. For the neutrals - who are you hoping to still see? |

There are a few mid-level talents I'm hoping to see get a ride an possibly level up. One in particular I strongly considered signing as one of my final guys but had to talk myself out of. Not optimistic at all that he gets a ride, but we shall see.

There goes my hopes for an updated version of Zana next year :/ The Lavery pick up is going to be great, he was very high up for me in case I needed a 50k siging and I am very surprised that he wasnt picked up in the regular transfer season!

Wow, didn't realise Van Stayen went down so fast. A few other MG legends here as well.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Happy to get my first two picks Didn’t expect that they would fall all the way down to me tbh.

The legend of the Bat Monk lives on!
Good to see former rider Pons and Van Stayen get contracts even though they didn't leave much to be remembered in our colours. Also cool to see some other legends of the game get a contract.
Had Zana and Garcia Pierna under my radar for the final spots of the squad, but eventually decided their final form wasn't interesting enough for me to take the brunt of their development.

Thought about giving Hagen a last chance just for fun, but I have no hair left on my head from his last season, so I'll pass
Pons and Lavery was very high up on my list at the beginning, an excellent draft by Manada and Podium Ambition!
I eventually found out I wanted to prioritize mountains for now, so happy with getting Bardet on board. |

So far only Batmunkh was drafted from the riders I had as potential replacement FAs if I lost Kosic (with Petrovski picked up very late during transfers). Pons is a great pick for a CT team I guess, whereas I don't really know how useful old guys like Kritskiy or Hagen with subpar backups will still be.
Jiang could be a good pick for the couple of prologues there are, especially USA PCC of course. Similar for Magnussen, who will however miss out on a final level-up I'm afraid.
And good to see Banzer picked up, obvious choice for Hilcona

Happy to get my first priority. Guess it's time to set up a HQ.
EDIT: Do I add drafts to my transfer sheet? |

No. The transfer sheet should have been submitted at the end of transfers, hence before the draft.
But I fully understand the question, asked it as well in my first year

Enjoying the love for Pons (who i'll be honest, thought was Belgian, so i'll take another surprise NC). Don't expect too many points from him, as his role is more likely to be a crucial domestique for Lagane/Meyer rather than striking out on his own. Been a long time since i had Luxembourgans on my squad! Pons as a landlocked man i'm sure will find a team of Islanders rather fun
Shoulda put Jiang higher up my list, but i put it together in a real rush as i've been crazy busy lately (as the MG Admin can attest to, a lot of my draft list was in fact signed). As such it really was basically a pure OVL sort and copy/paste... which is a hint at who we'll sign on Day 2 of the Draft. (SotD may have nailed a couple of my high up remaining selections...)

Zana got a bump this year. So that was probably it. Maxed, he looks a lot like Lavery who, as you note, isn't bad.
Good to see Rosskopf get a ride, I had him on a list early on but decided to go with a marginal sprinter for my last rider instead. Not much in the way of sprinters so far in the draft, which I think is a good sign they are getting thinned out.

Connor Brown, New Zealand edition, is joining the MG peloton. After a near previous miss saw American 'cousin' riding for a period - he now benefits from a Kiwi team wanting to draft Kiwi riders.
Speaking of similarly named riders. The La Lavandier twins have had plenty of riding opportunities over the years - sometimes in the same team. Both missed out in 2021, both rode in CT last season. Different situations this year though - now that Mathieu gets picked up in the draft!
105th in PT in 2021, 200th in PCT in 2022. 300th in CT in 2023? Let's see what trend David de la Cruz follows, as Tafjord Kraft picked up another veteran climber in the draft.
From Project 1t4i to eBuddy to Huski Chocolate, Maurits Lammertink has ridden for the same team since 2015. He won't be in the Rabobank colours this year, but now finds a home with Ekoi - Le Creuset.
