Congrats to just 16 years old Albert Philipsen winning MJ road race with a huge margin. The youngest winner ever.

Impressive win. The course was more exciting than I feared beforehand, looking forward to tomorrow. Not a hot take, but should suit MvdP perfectly if he's back in good shape. |

A nice novelty - I could watch the World Championships from my hotel room window, during the early stages of the route tomorrow. I won't, but I could ???? Glasgow courses are always attritional, excited to see how tomorrow goes, and how early the decisive move gets made!

TIL the World Championships are now held in early August. Goes to show how out of the loop I am these days. I thought this thread was a joke of some kind before.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

life stuff made it not worth watching everything whilst it's the perfect opportunity to do so. only managed to watch the team sprint finals so far (the final and the bronze final)
anyway both the elite man and women have a similiar dynamic. if Belgium and Netherlands respectively don't win it'll be a massive upset
did Almeida already crash in the neutralized zone and they started anyway?

Such a weird route to follow due to the constant tempo switches, but nice to see the aggressive racing been done already!

Me: Van der Poel can still crash so he hasn't won yet
Mom: you are talking about the one of the best steerers in the peloponnese

Congrats to Van der Poel, and Nederland.
Great race, although the curse was kind of absurd for those with a crash or technical, impossible to get back.

Some excellent pics there SN, as usual!
I had hoped to try and get up to the Worlds this year in a combo trip to the Fringe in Edinburgh, but alas life conspires and it didn't happen.
Loved watching the Downhill MTB on Saturday, seeing the weather get involved and mix up the action. Usually catch the Fort William round anyway, so I perhaps wasn't as surprised as some by the results.
And checking in on the Velodrome every night as always is good fun, Track always highly enjoyable to watch (although something about the camera work this year seems to make everyone look like they are riding in glue, no sense of speed).
Basically, i'm loving having some many disciplines combined into one festival of cycling. It's awesome! Shame we won't get it again, major missed opportunity for the UCI to explode the sport in a variety of directions to chase some higher hosting fees.

funny to think we'd almost had a men's double world champion for 4 days if they had the normal worlds schedule

Nice one for Belgium after the second in the RR, but have to admire what Tarling showed today

Another great race today, really a good WC this year. Kopecky's acceleration was just insane. Feeling sorry for Van Vleuten, she deserved better there.

Kopecky was excellent today, as was Chabbey. Another great race on a realy intriguing and deceptively challening course.
I've really really enjoyed these combo Worlds. And it's been really easy to get my friends to turn it on and enjoy something new as well. The overall excitement ahd hype across disciplines has been awesome. As i said the other day, shame we won't get such a festival of cycling again, despite it being so obviously beneficial the sport of cycling as a whole.

I think it's planned for 2027 as well. I have to agree it was a nice touch, though it really needs cyclocross.
