Riga - Jurmala GP
Hello hello and welcome to Latvia for the fifth edition of the Riga - Jurmala GP! After Finnish bombshell Matti Manninen won this race last season, we'll definitely get a new winner of this race this time around as well. Other former winners Ben Swift and Jacopo Guarnieri aren't here, so let's see who the favourites are!
| Flat | Hill | Res | Spr | Acc | Coquard | 73 | 67 | 74 | 84 | 83 | Gaviria | 76 | 72 | 76 | 83 | 84 | Grosu | 73 | 73 | 70 | 83 | 80 | Demare | 73 | 80 | 72 | 82 | 81 | Eislers | 78 | 66 | 76 | 81 | 76 | Kragh Andersen | 77 | 64 | 74 | 81 | 77 | Bonifazio | 79 | 66 | 75 | 80 | 80 | Samolenkov | 74 | 64 | 71 | 81 | 79 | Howard | 75 | 67 | 69 | 81 | 78 | Silvestre | 78 | 67 | 71 | 80 | 81 | Bol | 76 | 70 | 77 | 79 | 77 | Houle | 78 | 75 | 71 | 79 | 78 | Kennett | 75 | 65 | 76 | 79 | 78 | Lo Cicero | 70 | 62 | 60 | 82 | 75 | Pedersen | 77 | 69 | 80 | 78 | 77 | Banaszek | 74 | 65 | 73 | 79 | 81 | Bewley | 74 | 67 | 70 | 79 | 77 |
If that isn't a nice list of favourites, then I don't know what is. The top-3 of pure sprinters are Coquard, Gaviria and Grosu. They have all won quite a lot of races so far in their career, but will one of them be able to finally lift the Riga - Jurmala GP trophy?
Not if it was up to Demare. The Puma rider is ready to take on Coquard for another battle of the French, whereas home rider Eislers doesn't care about France at all and just wants to give the local spectators the moment of a lifetime. He is rather comparable to Kragh Andersen, who definitely also has a chance of a strong result here.
Bonifazio is always a bit of a mystery, so I wouldn't dare say anything promising about him. Many other sprinters here with a chance of a top-5 or even better below him on the favourite's list though, so it's safe to say there will be several disappointed managers tomorrow.
Life's not all about sprinting though, let's have a quick overview of the strongest rouleurs as well.
| Flat | Hill | Res | Acc | Andersen | 81 | 65 | 78 | 74 | Katrasnik | 81 | 63 | 76 | 72 | Konychev | 80 | 66 | 76 | 73 | Cherkasov | 80 | 71 | 74 | 75 | Culey | 79 | 65 | 76 | 70 | Bonifazio | 79 | 66 | 75 | 80 | Mundle | 79 | 65 | 73 | 69 | Groselj | 78 | 66 | 78 | 72 | Anderberg | 78 | 69 | 76 | 73 | Eislers | 78 | 66 | 76 | 76 | Peak | 78 | 69 | 75 | 76 | Rickaert | 78 | 69 | 75 | 73 | Christensen | 78 | 70 | 74 | 65 | Vanbilsen | 78 | 69 | 74 | 71 | Houle | 78 | 75 | 71 | 78 | Silvestre | 78 | 67 | 71 | 81 |
Aker - MOT is clearly not messing around, as they bring three strong riders for some possible late attacks. Cedevita and Amaysim seem to be having some similar ideas as well. Mundle seems to be Gazelle's best card, whereas Houle could both be attacking and sprinting. Best of luck to everybody tomorrow, the one and only AbhishekLFC will be bringing you the best report you've ever read!

This and Paris-Tours are the last two scoring opportunities for Silvestre. I need him to do well in at least one of them. He was 9th here last year, anything less would be a disappointment but in a tough field like this, it's always going to be difficult to get a really good result. Fingers crossed. Good luck everyone and thanks for the preview Nemo!

I guess Bonifazio gets one more chance to secure a future on the team. Maybe.
Thanks for the preview.

One of those races that always annoy me. Miss the times when we didnt have a home race instead of feeling like we should participate in a race that doesnt ever really seem to fit our plans too well...

Bewley shouldn't have a chance here, so for us it's again about Culey, Wohler or Christensen to try something before the sprinters go.

Please. We have the best train with Rickaert + Peak (if they work), great helpers in guys like Cherkasov and the 2nd best sprinter in Gaviria. Please make it work to create a win guys!
Also would love a good Eislers performance.

We come with the best possible "flat" setup that can be achieved without adding Farantakis - which also means the leadout can't really be stronger than this.
This isn't necessarily a good thing though as the trains rarely works perfect, but we have to try!
Coquard could win this, but could also mess up big time. Top 5 is a must though...

Pure flat classic, deep startlist. Not much to do except hope that the lottery gods favor us.
Thanks for the preview!

Katrasnik is getting ridiculous
Nice to see the top 3 sprinters on the podium. Thanks for the report

Sucks for Katrasnik to be caught like that, but it would have sucked even more for us if Grosu hadn't make it to the podium. Third is a great result. No shame in finishing behind Coquard and Gaviria.
It looks like no one from the team had enough left to give Grosu a helping hand in that finale, but at least Van den Berg got a good place for himself.

Wohler tried, couldn't ask for more, tbh. Eventually nothing special for us, but at least three riders inside the Top-25.
Congrats to the Top-10 (if happy with the results) and thanks for the report!

How on earth does Houle get dropped? Recovered ok I guess could have been a 0-pointer, but still awful. Tesfaye Hartmanis continues to impress in these races, though.

Well, he wasn't worse 9th is fine all things considered, especially after Silvestre was distanced at one point, which made me really worried. A good outcome in general, with the top sprinters doing as well as they should be. Thanks for the report, congrats SotD!

Absolutely brilliant! Must admit I was rooting for Katrasnik to succeed for a while, but obviously we came to be victorious, and seeing the top 3 as the top favorites is always nice.
Isostar now firmly ahead of Puma again, despite not winning Herbiers. Should be a secure title.
For us, the top 10 looks realistic with these two results. Unfortunately the cobbles is going to edge things back in the favor of Grieg I think.
