Opening Weekend
25/02/2023 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad WT2
25/02/2023 Faun-Ardèche Classic CT1
26/02/2023 Kuurne - Brussel - Kuurne CT+
26/02/2023 La Drôme Classic CT1
We're ready to go! Just like always, we start with double racing in France and Belgium. This of course means no rider can ride than more two races this weekend. In 2022 Nemolito's focus on Omloop, the race with the most points, payed off as he took an impressive win and got the lead never to lose it again. On the other hand, the French races got a high point scale, so the main question will be how people will divide their riders here. Remember, you can only pick 8!
I will need your list of 8 riders in this thread by saturday morning 10u00 normal europe time. This is a hard deadline, if you miss it I will just take your top 8 draft picks. Feel free to make changes before the deadline, but do this in a new post. Use the format LASTNAME Firstname (like the draft, list of all riders in this format is in the top post).
Startlist on Procyclingstats are usualy pretty good, although they can change very last minute.

Three more riders I'm happy with. Van Wilder showing what he can do lately, hope he makes the Ardennes team. For my free picks I wanted more sprinters and somehow got my top 2 choices. Mayrhofer hopefully isn't a fluke and Dekker didn't do himself any favours by joining a team already overstacked on sprinters. Perhaps most interesting was that Marc Cavendish was 3rd on that list, meaning no one selected him and the former world champion and San Remo winner is not in the game this year!
Also,I got all PMs before the deadline, I knew we could do it in the end

A bang average team, but we'll try to make it work. Because I don't have (m)any of the big guys, I seem to have the problem that almost everyone will be in 2 races this weekend, so I hope I made the right benching choices

Rajovic is decent, but biggest talent since Eddy Merckx?
Nah, of course, Evenepoel is a superb rider, but he'll only be in one race of the entire game, so I really meant bang average considering the points they'll be able to net me here
Nosepickers, block 1

Cobblers Block 1
WRIGHT Fred
STEWART Jake
KWIATKOWSKI Michal
HERREGODTS Rune
KÃœNG Stefan
BAGIOLI Andrea
LAMPAERT Yves
TURGIS Anthony
It seems my team is a bit centred on cobbles, but at least Bagioli represents the Cobblers in the French races...

Fainthearts Block 1
DE LIE Arnaud
HIGUITA Sergio
PAGE Hugo
CLARKE Simon
WALSCHEID Max
BISSEGGER Stefan
ROTA Lorenzo
CICCONE Giulio
1/3 of the team currently in UAE, some more not doing any races - hard to fill up the 8 spots. However, of those 8 names currently only Ciccone isn't on any startlist, so still hoping he'll do the French classics. Otherwise, pretty well-balanced, with De Lie, Page, Walscheid and Bissegger for the cobbles, and Higuita, Clarke and Rota for the hills. Plus maybe Ciccone - if some other name suddenly pops up I'll just post an updated roster.

O'Connor and Gaudu are a nice pair for the French classics but don't have high hopes for the cobbles.

So much for the strong duo in France. O'Connor manages to catch the flu and miss the two races that were my entire reason for drafting him. Nice work Ben. Revised list.

24 hours to go, a few missing (marcokfc, jaxika, llds), probably still waiting for the final startlists.
Also please be aware that round 2 will follow soon after (deadline tuesday morning).
