Just noticed that I haven't even commented on my R4-6 picks yet...
But I'm actually pretty happy with those. Higuita won't be in many of those races, but I'm hoping for him to rock the Ardennes week, and maybe a couple more races. He was 10th in Strade and 5th in LBL last year, and later on took 4th in Lombardia. So he surely has the class to fight for the top spots whenever he enters those hilly races. 3rd place in San Juan suggests that the form is already pretty decent. Excited to see what he can do this year!
I guess I must be overcompensating for last year's lack of sprinters, given that I had Page on P1 on my list The Frenchman is pretty well-rounded, though, and definitely can handle a couple of hills on the road. Cobbles weren't really his thing so far, let's see if he can improve there as well - then he could turn out to be one of my best picks I guess. Three Top10 finishes in TDU and 2nd in Great Ocean Road Race definitely are a very strong start of the year, meaning that expectations are rather high...
Kooij probably has the higher top speed, and Rodriguez/Ayuso would've been fantastic for the hilly classics, so let's see whether Page really was the best choice here.
Ciccone was 2nd on my list behind Bettiol - but given that I was really disappointed with the latter last year, I'm not that unhappy to get someone else. He obviously has the same "issues" as Higuita, being mainly a stage racer, but he should at least do the Ardennes triple. And maybe some of the Italian classics. I think he often wasn't at his best level last year, but the start in 2023 was great, taking 2nd in Valencia. So let's see if he can get us some points!
Looking forward to the next picks, hoping Ollfardh doesn't grab my #1 both in R7 and R9

3 people missing is a bit too much, so I'll - very exceptionaly - extend the deadline to 2 hours from this post.

Ouch, had the tab up to remind myself and closed it instead of looking at it. Will get you something now. If it's too late, I understand.

Just to confirm - it is based on R10, so the home country rider in R11 doesn't count.
I like that since I have 4 countries on 2 through R10.

That is correct, R11 does not matter here.

Happy with Clarke in R7; he had a couple of good races so far, hope today's DNF in Jaén doesn't mean he crashed or so... Unfortunately, he'll probably mainly be absent from the classics, but I still hope he'll have some good ones. And yes, I feel like I'm saying that about all my puncheurs so far
Oldani in R8 clearly wasn't my first choice, but all of De Bondt, Capiot, Louvel, Mozzato didn't slip through... Oldani might be my main rider for the less important hilly classics then. Not expecting any miracles, but some solid Top15-20 would be nice.
Walscheid in R9 is yet another sprinter, but at least one that can handle some cobbles. Winner in Denain, 2nd in Nokere Koerse and 4th in De Panne are his standout results from last spring, and I'm hoping he can somewhat repeat those. Was also thinking about picking Italy again (Consonni, Covi), or France (Zingle, Martin), but I'm happy with that pick.
Bilbao in R10 would be a great pick if we were doing stage races, but - as for almost all other puncheurs - I hope he'll do at least some of the classics. Strade, MSR, Flèche Wallone and LBL are on his provisional schedule, let's see if he really gets to do them - or some more even.
I think jaxika again had a good round, especially with Capiot and Vlasov. But if Fuglsang finds his form, that could be pretty strong. I also like cunego's picks quite a lot, though, and Ollfardh should be happy with his picks, too.
R12: If I correctly remember last year's draft, "country with most riders" refers to my own team, and not to the full draft of all managers, right?

Yes, just your own team.
Wellens and Swift are more gambles, not sure how they will fit into their new team where they'll defninitely have a less important role to play. Vermeersch and Covi are two picks I'm really happy with.

Boy, do I miss getting the top pick every two rounds. Take me back to the good old days
Not super unhappy with the picks though. Problem is that my team consists mainly of decent guys who could get a strong/consistent result/season, but none of them has really proven to be able of that quite a lot before. Maybe I should try and get a cobbler for once, although I fear not many are left.

Very happy that I got both Louvel and Zingle, my top targets in both rounds. Rui Costa is a bit of a gamble, but he looked so strong early this year and I have a lot of faith in Intermarche to get the best out of their riders. Bit unfortunate that Kanter and Walscheid were both picked up, but there's one more German that might do okay, I think. My main country is pretty thin by now as well, so some more digging is required.

Very fortunate with the draw this year, so I can pick first every two rounds. Really happy so far with the likes of Van Aert, Turner and Campenaerts

What can I say I just felt like ruining your day
However, I can return the curses considering you took the Slovenian I wanted for R11.
Quite happy with this round, I think both Danes, as well as the two Italians I picked up this round can have some good races. Although I'm not sure how many classics Consonni will decide to ride, so far nothing on his program. |
