Stunning performance from the team so far. Petit sprinting good, Inkelaar holding well and Dina, no words. Thanks for the reports!

A silly mistake by Formolo do be doing that much work behind the attackers. What a huge victory that could have been.

Chiarello doesn’t work for us unfortunately. It’s really not good. I had hoped for an Evonik-Chiarello, but haven’t seen any of that yet :-(

And the rest of his former team constantly tries to get into breaks but is never strong enough to actually get in there...

Evonik - Chiarello usually was the weakest in week 1 anyway Wink

Both stage 5 and stage 6 are encouraging looking at Preidler and what he's doing. If he can go on like this when we hit the mountains, a GC top 10 could be possible. Not what we came for, though, and I must admit I rather have him be a stage hunter, but it seems like the game treat him as a GC rider here, which is different, but hopefully interesting and fun too Smile

A really nice win, just need Kudus to keep this up for next 15 stages to save my season. Grin

Thanks a lot for reports, they are excellent to read, Imladrik!

Great to see Formolo and Dombrowski fighting each other. Too bad Kudus got the best of both of them.

The team looks strong as well as Formolo so far. Give me hopes for a stage win in the uphil hilly stages finishes.

We've had a little success so far with a few top 10s in some stages by both Rodenberg and Carthy and we also managed to grab the KOM jersey for a few days which helps a little as well.

I'm glad Carthy has stayed out of trouble so far as a top 5 overall is possible with a bit of luck in this startlist. Even Williams has survived any time loss as well which I love to see as well as I feel we need to pick up a lot more points in this race than we did the Giro - the less said about that one the better. :/

Congrats to Puma for passing the finishing line first!

Salt aside, this is the kind of riding that i want to see from Vosekalns.
Glad i got it Smile

Jesus. Who decides which riders to send in the breaks for ud? Urter retarded with 3 perfectly suited candidates for the win.

Strong ride by Pronskiy, eventhough I would've preferred Chamorro or Petelin. Also loving Higuitas ride taking white, that's what we got him for!

Good fight by Van Poucke to get in the breakaway and almost get a top 10 from it. Preidler was very, very poor, though, which puts a brutal end to his GC ambitions here. In other words, we really need him to get aggressive and try for breakaways. That’s the only way I can see us get something from this race now.

Stupendous stage from a spectator point of view. Great to see the legendary Vosekalns pulling one of his trademark escapades, even ifonly to lose the stage on the line.

Kudus losing 2 min is quite surprising. It's a game changer. It definitely puts Dombo as the no. one candidate and Kudus with more freedom to launch chaos and try to get back into the game.

Eastman attacking so early is eyebrow-raising, but could have been a smart move, given how he has zero support (Rashid continues to be AWOL in the decisive stages). 2nd to 8th are all quite packed together, so it seems we could still hope for a podium spot.

Outstanding reports so far Imladrik, thanks again!

Superb tactics from my team. Warchol ups the pace to drop the race leader, the rider he should protect.

This season seems to go from bad to even worse now.

Don't mind Carthy trying early just didn't pay off in the end for us. Even though we are down in 8th we're still only 15 seconds from 2nd so there's still plenty to play for us as there's a few people ahead of us that I'd expect Carthy to beat.

Unlucky for Moser that Kudus was dropped and lost big time early though I'd still expect him to recover 2nd place with that monster last week still ahead of us. Dombrowski the big winner out of all of this and should win this race because of it.

Again, great stuff from the team and Formolo. But, maybe he should spread his energy better since it looks like he cracked a bit at the end there. Still, 2nd in GC so far is wonderful.

Great to see Dombrowski so aggressive even though most of the time he actually won it was due to Kudus' bad day. Could this finally be Dombrowski's big race? I sure hope so.

By the way, did we ever see the big favorite cracking this way in the leader's jersey before?

Abdul Halil's positioning on stages three and four was definitely worse than the first stages. When he has a bad day, he's unable to beat the lead-out sprinters, as shown in stage three Pfft I'm okay with his eighth place in stage four though, hope he can get that top-5 stage later.

Nice to see the Vuelta has really started now, and fun to see Beltran trying to hard to get in the breakaway. Munoz already showing his Giro legs again, lucky me Pfft Hopefully he can get in the right break in the coming two weeks and get a podium somewhere.

Very unlucky result for Moser, my conmiserations. A massive thank you to Imladrik again for the superb reports so far!

Alright, before I catch up on these reports let's write a pre-race comment.

Very happy with how this lineup turned out. This might be a unique opportunity for Dombrowski to finally win a Grand Tour. And it's cool that he'll have to battle it out with a similar rider to achieve this. On paper I'd say Kudus' +2 HI, +1 TT and +1 REC might give him a slight edge. But Dombrowski's +5 ACC, +5 DH, +1 RES and +1 FL definitely makes up for a lot there. Very much looking forward to this!

Reaction to stages 1 through 4:

Great stuff from Degenkolb. Congrats! Also good to see my captain and his lieutenant always attentive near the front.

Stage 5:

Nice sprint by Dombrowski! You never know when those bonus seconds come in clutch and also good to move to second in GC for the bonus points.

Stage 6:

Strange choice to be the leadout for the peloton sprint. Not surprising that this hands someone else the win and even worse that it's our direct rival who gets an extra 5 seconds in the process. On the other hand we did still manage to grab second place and put time into some other strong riders, so it could have been a lot worse.

Stage 7:

Wow! Not gonna lie; that attack by Dombrowski had me worried because Moser brought two very strong helpers to this race. But apparently Joseph timed it perfectly on a massive Kudus off-day. Very important time win in the GC battle! But I'm also quite sure Kudus will bounce back from this.
Now we have to fight to keep the jersey and sadly I didn't bring the strongest team here. So there's plenty of room for fireworks in the future. Can't wait Grin
