 Tirreno - Adriatico
The "Race of the Two Seas" is a fitting name for this race in Italy which has been part of the PT calendar since its inception. The route has been altered for this season compared to the previous year. The race will again start with a prolouge which is a bit longer at nearly 10 km. The next two stages will be a sprinters affair with Stage 4 being reserved for the hilly specialists. The difference from last year is that the race has a more hilly profile than one with huge climbs meaning that Stages 5 and 6 will be again for the hilly specialists. And the final stage will again test the TT skills of the riders with another short TT stage - one second could be the difference between the top and bottom.
Last year's winner  Herklotz is not going to defend his title as Puma - SAP boss cio93 has decided to use him elsewhere. Runner-up  Dombrowski was also not send in this race by Gazelle's manager DubbelDekker, while  Areruya's team - Xero Racing, unfortunately fell down to the PCT division and the team choose to not go for a wildcard there. And we should tell you that it wasn't an easy task to find a rider that had participated last year as neither of the Top 15 last year in GC is returning. So, we had to look from the 2020 class where the overall winner back then  Bobridge returns to do the same feat as Herklotz.

As mentioned Bobridge is back to repeat his win from 2020, but he won't be alone. King Power's Gidich is touted as the top challenger with Polar's Izagirre is not far behind. Wirtgen is the wildcard in this tier - though don't have the hilly prowess, he's one of the best TT'ers in the field and if he manages to hold out with the other favorites he may have an realisting shot at the win. Other riders in this tier include Sepulveda, Paret-Peintre, Malecki, Mayer, Mano and Oomen

Now, it would a crime if we only include riders with TT/PL stat over 70 as there are riders without TT prowess that could also be a threat for the GC win. And there are very interesting names there such as Lutsenko, Mohoric, Beltran and Higuita among others. This with the condition that should the differences in the final short TT stage aren't small enough.

The TT specialists will also have their time in the opening and final stages. Würtz and Zmorka are the top favorites in those type of stages, but having the best TT/PRL stats doesn't mean a sure ticket to stage win glory.

In theory this should be a great opportunity for us, but I'm not too sure what to expect from Bobridge after Tasmania. Team support was directed at that first stage which, in hindsight, shouldn't prove to be that decisive, but here's hoping.

This might be the worst squad i have ever sent to a race. Four lvl 1-2 guys, a cobbler thats completely rubbish on a route like this and Thijssen who is our best shot at evonik results here as a solid sprinter.
Every point we get and every day we can join the break is a victory for us.

Big one for us as I expect a couple of stages to be decent for climbers. Lutsenko and Gidich should fight out the win though, maybe Beltran mixing it up. Looking at the startlist Lierse (and also Cedevita) might hurt us a lot as a wildcard team as they fill the niche we wanted to fill with Higuita, but I still fancy our chances. Let's go Sergio!

I won’t have any expectations for this race, so fingers crossed something will Fall down the turban. Farantakis arguably among the better sprinters here will be atleast interesting to follow. Whether that bring us any significant glory is a whole different discussion.
Our GC lineup is horrible, but greek. That’s always good :-)

Let's see what Goos can do in this field.
A top 10 or active riding would be great obviously as there are plenty stronger.
If the hills are very selective, all the non TT puncheur will easily beat him though.
So let's see how the race goes. Can't have any real expectations but active riding and breaks with Goos giving his best. |

Big hopes and expectations for this one! If we can manage to get Mohoric over the line in the TTT on close to the same time as the rest of our team, a good GC should be doable. Being the "close to best" clear pure puncheur here, right behind Lutsenko, should count for quite something, as chasing a stage win, bonus seconds and a good overall position must be our goal.
This feels like where our season really begins, and hopefully Mohoric is ready to lead the line  |

I was thinking/hoping Keizer could so something here, but 1) not mentioning him in the preview, 2) looking at his Tasmania result and 3) looking at LPH's TTT result in Copenhagen makes me fear I wasted yet another 8 Keizer, Zmorka and Sütterlin racedays  Good luck to all, and thanks for the preview ivanovic

It should definitely be. Initially it was even twice as long and was then shortened. At least some of the PT goals clearly were chosen because of this TTT

We're here with pretty much the best squad we could have for this kind of race. Hopefully we can have a good start and build on that. At least we have a good bunch of good allrounders, and a positive surprise to see so many of them mentioned in the preview. Fingers crossed for a good race!

Obviously the TT(T) kilometers are going to hurt Lutsenko, but there are also three stages where he should be able to make a difference. He really needs to deliver in the hills!

Oh man, just thought for a moment that we had a shot at a stage top 3. 6th is just outside the points though... Too bad! But still a very nice effort, and Farantakis is inside a shot at targetting the lead - if he can win ofcourse, which is very doubtful.
Huge points to the stagewinner not only getting 50 points from the win but also 17 points from being 1, 2 and 3 in the GC. Big congrats to Duolingo!
