Vuelta al Tachira Discussion

Quite happy with that !!!!!

Talansky smashing all Glanbia race records here if he can bring it home. Seriously impressive climbing

I'm going to get greedy and call on my TT guys to win the final stage too

Wow, Talansky! Definitely didn't see that coming. I rather expected the McCormick duo to finally do some serious carnage, but it looks like they just didn't have the legs all race long, despite both being slightly stronger climbers than Talansky.
But most of all, I clearly didn't see Ablenado's off day coming. He's been so strong all race long (except for the hilly stage iirc), and his resistance and recovery should rather have given him the edge over Talansky et al., but no. The weight of the yellow jersey on his shoulders seems to have completely broken him.

Congrats to Glanbia on the very likely GC win - I can't see Talansky lose more than 1'30" on his direct rivals. Vasyliv and Ablenado should easily hold on to their podium spots, and I think it's even rather unlikely that they'll switch places.
So the fight for the stage win will probably be the most interesting part of tomorrow's stage Smile

Also, good to see that Tryg have finally, finally woken up, with a nice 2nd place by Zimmermann - and two more in the stage points and the lead in the U25 standings. That's however a mere consolation price, given that they won't have a really notable GC result (with Schlegel likely losing some spots) and the U25 win still pretty much at risk, but at least they showed the manager that they might be up to their task in future races.

Thanks to red for another great report, looking forward to the closing stage Smile

Oof. Not a good race, thinks deteriorated in stage 9, clearly McCormick does not know to handle the pressure.

Really not much positive from the climbing squad. Not a single podium in the mountain stages, which is poor considering we had 2 of the top 5 pure climbers in the race. Warbasse beaten badly by Talansky and Vasily every time the road went up hill. When he first attacked I thought that might be his moment he couldn't hold it, which was a common pattern.

Hoehn cracked and likely fell out of the U25 points and GC points. Kuss has been consistent in the mountains and gained ground every stage but lost way too much time on the hilly stage and will likely drop a place or two in the TT.

On the other hand. should still put two in the top 10 or so in GC plus Feiereisen's stage, so not like there won't be points but certainly not what we hoped for. And still plenty of races for the team to bounce back and Warbasse to avenge his rather embarrassing capitulation to Talanksy.

Congrats to Mac, Glanbia kicking butt before we even get to their favorite terrain. And a deserved bounce back for Tryg, from the moment Zimmerman went in the break I was pretty sure that our U25 lead was doomed.

Great day! Way behind Talansky but moving up to 2nd overall! Vasyliv is having a great race! Hopefully he can keep this 2nd overall and have a good TT in the final stage!

Congrats Talansky and glanbia on yet another win. Vasyliv challenged but has to settle for best of the rest. Talansky is just in a world of his own in Tachira.

Very very happy with 2nd overall from Vasyliv! He also did well in a number of stages for top 5 finishes so excellent points haul and debut for him with us! I think that’s the official highest GC finish that the team has had in its history!!!

Congrats Talansky and Glanbia on domination! Good to see Ablenado up in the top 3 as well but I’m glad Vasyliv beat him considering Ablenado was my squads GC leader last year and failed to do what he has done this season. Good to see the switch in leaders was a good decision early in the season! Hopefully this continues for us!

Well, that was just plain selfish of you Pfft

Congratulations on a great Tachira, man. Also congratulations to all other teams doing well, including several first wins for the new teams Smile

Well certainly not the most expected outcome for the overall in Tachira - one of those races where it'd be interesting to see what the GC looked like if running the race 5 separate times!

It would have been nice to see Alarcon hark back to the origins of Tachira with South Americans all over the GC - although looking back now I see that an American did win the first edition too, so there we go! A 10 year gap between GC victories for Alarcon would have been quite something, but really not even close in the end.

Glanbia ridiculously strong in the final stage, mopping up half of the Top10 spots Rolling Eyes
Great race for you, congrats! And as UU noted, it's not even the race one would expect you to do as well, with all those TTT-loaded stage races yet to come. I sure have to hope Talansky has used up all his daily form luck for the season now Pfft

Congrats to BNZ for taking 2nd, good to see Vasyliv being useful right from the start. Same goes for Caja in 3rd; I'm still not an Ablenado fan, and I guess he overperformed here, but that just outweighs Alarcon's bad form. This sure is a duo to watch out for throughout the season!

Thanks to red for the reports, was a nice race to follow even as a "neutral" spectator Smile

Disappointing ride by Warbasse here. With Kuss at his side, he really should have been better. I understand why his attacks weren't amazing given his acceleration, but they should have been able to grind away at the similar climbers. It's weird how PCM picks some guys to perform well in most stages and others to underwhelm even when race form is off.

Great race to follow with great reporting!

Congratulations to all the winners (though most of them are Talansky anyway Wink).

Warbasse as mediocre in the last stage as in the rest of them, losing to his teammate Revard and not even being able to make up the minimal gap on Campero. But probably not the stage to waste a great performance.

Think the team other than Warbasse was probably around expectations. But Kuss finished 3rd here last year so really no way to spin Warbasse's race.

The good news is that since an American won we feel have decided we can crash the party at Glanbia HQ. Also congrats to 2k on a great race for Caja.

In many ways a better race than I expected. Unfortunately pointwise the gains will be minimal.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

First thanks for the reports.
Second congrats to the stage and overall winners.
Third our own performance: I am happy with it. Predatsch did like expected and claimed a spot on the podium at the itt. Just 4 seconds to the first victory but the season just started and we will achieve it at some day. I am also happy with Hindley's Overall performance. 8th in GC and 2nd in KOM, great job. Also Bahaus did great at the sprint finishes and collecting a good amount of points. Plapp did also fine with being 7th at U25, he showed already a lot signs of having a great career. Overall the team must have done a good job to achieve all of that. The next races can come!

Well, it wasn't the best of races for us - expected a lot better from Kozhatayev TBH as he was our leader for this race. 7th overall isn't that bad, but being 6 minutes behind the GC winner isn't something that can't be ignored. Oh well, there are other races that can collect us more ranking points. Thanks for the reports.
