Oliveira. By milliseconds. Nooooo...! Congratulations though bbl, stage win and two jerseys is a very nice haul. And I can't be too upset with two stage podiums, a stage win, and second in the GC.

Elissonde on a roll, winning again in Oman. It was almost three in a row, if Morton managed to hold on in the last stage in Algarve

Nice to see my first ever rider, Marius "the Bartender" Dieu get his first result with a 5th place in S1 of Bishkek.
Looking forward to Omloop and Senechal demonstrating just how overpaid he is.

Wow, Rick Zabel is on fire 3 podium spots in the first 3 stages in our home tour - absolutely fantastic! However, don't understand how he can not be wearing the points jersey - guess Cav just won lots of intermediate sprint points, and uphill finishes are worth less points...
Rick will definitely lose the leader jersey in the TT, so it's time for Mendes to step in. Unfortunately, the team really didn't play it well on S3, with Huamán (having lost time on a flat stage) finishing in the front group instead of helping his team leader... Still, the TT should help Mendes having a shot at a Top10 GC result, which would be great to complement those fantastic stage results by Zabel!
I'm a bit less impressed by Gonzalez in Mallorca, especially S1 wasn't good with him finishing 9th. 4th on S2 is good, but a podium would've been worth the white jersey... Well, let's see if we can still get something useful from Spain

Okrucky wearing white for a day in San Luis is definitely the highlight of his career. 7th and 8th for Niemi is okay, guess he needs some more training

Bishkek - Denis Bongioni winning KOM is a great boost for Renault Techno Development
San Luis - Renault Techno Development rider in the break every day, keep it up boys Inspiring to see Matteo Cavallo wearing the white jersey for a day and Olivier Bernier fighting for KOM points.
Thanks for the reports Shonak

Not as great for Bennett as last time, but Boily is still on the same GC time, so all good.
Also, my U23 team continues to be historically bad for another year.

A very slow start to the season for Bosch as expected, with Schnaidt doing okay in Amissa Bongo.
His first true opportunity to show his new allround skills is here though in Mallorca, with two good sprints for bonus seconds opening up a true GC podium shot if he can stay in touch in the mountain stage coming up! I hope the game treats him as a favorite now and he can do it.
For Auto Eder, we've had plenty to be excited about already, starting at the season opener with a good 7th by new addition Pichlmann.
The Bishkek start was promising as well with 4th in the sprint and a strong short TT by specialist Ahrens, but I was banking on the hilly stage being WAY less selective to carry over the strong performances by him and Wilfurth into a GC result, which wasn't meant to be. Definitely not worth keeping Janssen home for to not blur the leadership question.
Still, just around 20th is at least something.

It is the thing I notice the most in the ICL about the PCM 15 AI, hilly stages are crazy selective. I think the cobbled AI has issues but haven't really had a cobbles team until this year, so that will be fun to experience.

Tremendous TT by Boily to take the GC lead - his TT training already paying off there. Unfortunately, Dombrowski went from range and took over the race, and we didn't have a response. Guess the team just wasn't strong enough to control the race there.

Great continuation in San Luis to take our 2nd stage win on stage 4 - Gaviria displaying his great TT capacities Less impressive from Mendes however, not the best TT performance from him.
Stage 5 was OK, with the most positive note being that 3 riders finished in the top group, giving us an almost 2min advantage in the team standings. However, Mendes only sitting in 11th isn't great, we were definitely hoping for more.
On the other hand, with Sepulveda and Zabel (!!!) still inside the Top20 as well, we could walk away with a really nice depth result - and the green jersey for Zabel clearly is still on the table as well.
Completely different feelings in Mallorca, though. Stage 3 was OK with Godoy taking 5th, but he inexplicable threw everything out of the window on the pretty easy stage 4. Can't explain this at all, maybe a badly timed puncture, but that stage makes it easily the most disappointing (and least scoring) race of the year so far.
However, we also have to say that our stage racing team leaders Chamorro and Gomez haven't even started their season yet, so hopefully a Mallorca-like result - probably with our weakest climbing lineup in a mountainous stage race all season long - won't happen too often.

Breakaways are all we can hope for in the Basque Country and we've been in two already. Pretty poor performance by Cano Gonzalez, though, unable to keep up with nominally weaker riders.

Was very excited when I saw our former dev team rider Jaime Garcia snatching a late attack stage win in Mallorca, those attacks really suit him. I wish it would come also from Garau at some point but it seems that Garcia is the more daring rider eventually.
I have some friends over this weekend in Paris but I should be able to wrap up all the races for February and post rankings. For good measure posted the Previews early.
I'll be also on a conference and a company retreat from Wednesday to Friday so no races in that timeframe. |

Good start in Pais Vasco but don't know what happened to Yates on Stage 3. Good GC out the window I guess.
Thanks for the coverage Shonak
