Some very handy stage racers to bring in, should benefit the mountains and the TTT train a lot
That was the idea. Xandri and Barta add some very important stability to the stage racing department for sure, especially TTTs which were very weak before this.

Benoot is such a cool rider, and I think better suited to PCT where he has control over his calendar. I'm very excited to see how you use him!

Utilizing the PCT calendar, and especially the calendar we have this time was a major factor in targeting Benoot. Happy that it worked out

Our last transfer update of the season where we wrap up our signings and cover our loan-outs and departures.
Dan McLay | Sprinter
Age: 30 | Wage: 65,000 Our second Free Agent signing of the season comes in the form of leadout/cobbles domestique McLay who will be used extensively to cover both those areas in the team. His versatility is what attracted us to him and we're glad to have him join.

Yannick Stoltz | Awesomeness
Age: 34 | Wage: 50,000 | Fee: Rider Swap The MG legend! A rider we have admired for a long time but knew it was not possible to get. When it was possibility, we had to get him. He adds much needed firepower to our flat squad, and hopefully can still spring a surprise or two in Prologues, and goes on the attack on certain stages.

Simone Velasco | Puncher
Age: 27 | Wage: 115,000 At the very end of transfers, when everyone else had gone home and started counting their chickens, we picked up the Italian puncher to complete our squad for the season. As far as his role in the team goes, he will shadow Benoot in all the hills races, and then help out in other races where needed.

It will take too long for us to individually say goodbye to all riders in the list above, but we like to thank all of them for their contribution to the team, be it for a few seasons or for a few hours.

I must admit that I was surpised to see Inkelaar on the way out so quickly, but the upgrade will certainly pay dividends this season.

Was not convinced that Inkelaar would do enough as second mountains leader having Carapaz, for example, last season. This was a conscious decision to improve on the climbers given our calendar. Also the presence of Eenkhoorn means Inkelaar would probably never get the attention he would need, development or otherwise.

After signing Tiesj Benoot early in the transfer window, we immediately sent him out to train on the shorter, punchier slopes of the Alps. He comes back in time for the 2022 season, packing a stronger punch than when we signed him. We hope this allows him to move up in the PCT hills hierarchy.
We were not done though. We also encouraged him to train in the wind tunnel and work on his aerodynamic position when riding alone against the clock. He worked tirelessly and is now just that tiny bit faster on his own.

Beast
He's obviously still a less powerful pure puncheur than Wilco, but a much better allrounder and a real threat for many cobbled races. A good thing about being in CT this year is that I won't meet him too often
Have fun with the upgraded Benoot!

Benoot should be really good now with that 80 hills and his back up stats. Like SotD said, good to see his progress continues and the training I put into him last year doesn't go to waste

@redordead: Must say everything fell into place this transfer window! Still not getting close to Beltran though I think.
@Fabianski: Things didn't work out with Wilco and now I'm very skeptical of punchers not being well rounded climbers also. Hence the investment in Benoot.
@SotD: Was always priority one when I realized I would have the required budget for it.
@jandal: Hope it translates into the races though.
@Croatia: Thanks! That's the plan anyway
@Alex: Was always on my mind when I signed him. Hope he can utilise the upgrade well.
@WJ: Viana and Benelux (please be better!) will be the first races pencilled in for Benoot
@jandal: Bring it on Look forward to the racing.

It is time to present our full squad for the 2022 season in our quest to improve on the 19th place finish in PCT last time around. We made significant moves in the transfer window to restructure the team, with a host of fresh new faces to liven things up. We were also able to reduce the average age of the squad, which was a significant achievement we feel.

Choi joins the team as the top stage racer. Penasa continues to do what he does very well, and we are hopeful of a repeat of last season. A fully maxed Eenkhoorn will play the role of the super-domestique along with Raileanu. Barta and Xandri add much needed stage racing and TTT strength, while Henttala and Champoussin will act as the load bearers on the lower slopes. Youngster Galvan Ramirez will accompany the climbers in many races.
Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Tiesj Benoot | 71 | 75 | 80 | 63 | 75 | 74 | 74 | 76 | 69 | 71 | 62 | 66 | 62 | Cristian Raileanu | 66 | 77 | 77 | 63 | 74 | 73 | 76 | 56 | 59 | 70 | 69 | 67 | 65 | Simone Velasco | 73 | 72 | 76 | 60 | 75 | 71 | 68 | 64 | 69 | 76 | 75 | 69 | 62 | Clement Champoussin | 67 | 73 | 73 | 60 | 74 | 73 | 73 | 57 | 59 | 72 | 68 | 72 | 61 |
Benoot is the new addition as leader on the hills but we are a little short of depth in this department. This was by design though, as we do not have a lot of dependence on hills races this season.
Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Saya Kuroeda | 74 | 53 | 63 | 67 | 72 | 73 | 75 | 77 | 74 | 78 | 63 | 64 | 71 | Shiki Kuroeda | 72 | 63 | 70 | 52 | 76 | 77 | 82 | 76 | 76 | 73 | 67 | 71 | 63 | Tiesj Benoot | 71 | 75 | 80 | 63 | 75 | 74 | 74 | 76 | 69 | 71 | 62 | 66 | 62 | Tom Van Asbroeck | 75 | 53 | 71 | 66 | 75 | 72 | 79 | 74 | 80 | 78 | 74 | 68 | 74 | Dan McLay | 73 | 56 | 67 | 55 | 74 | 72 | 79 | 72 | 77 | 76 | 62 | 66 | 55 |
The Kuroedas will lead our cobbles campaign for the season, ably supported by Benoot as co-leader. Van Asbroeck and McLay should be strong domestiques for these races.

A maxed Minali returns from loan to take over sprint co-leadership with Van Asbroeck. The Kuroedas and McLay will be the leadouts for the season while Stoltz will play the role of Roleur extraordinaire.
Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | Tom Dumoulin | 71 | 59 | 68 | 78 | 75 | 76 | 70 | 52 | 65 | 67 | 66 | 60 | 78 | Ki Ho Choi | 71 | 81 | 74 | 75 | 77 | 76 | 79 | 63 | 59 | 68 | 68 | 71 | 74 | Jan Xandri | 68 | 76 | 73 | 73 | 68 | 74 | 72 | 60 | 60 | 69 | 75 | 74 | 71 | William Barta | 69 | 76 | 72 | 73 | 71 | 74 | 70 | 54 | 72 | 67 | 65 | 56 | 75 | Joonas Henttala | 66 | 74 | 68 | 73 | 73 | 72 | 72 | 50 | 60 | 67 | 63 | 71 | 73 | Yannick Stoltz | 77 | 59 | 65 | 63 | 71 | 74 | 70 | 62 | 59 | 69 | 82 | 70 | 77 |
Dumoulin continues as our leader in TTs. We do not have string ITT riders but we do have stage racers who can effectively contribute to the TTT setup. Stoltz, despite his advancing years, will still remain a contender in Prologues this season. It was also a conscious decision to target a mountain leader who can ride TTs, and Choi fits that description. Penasa can hold his own against the clock too, without being spectacular.

Leemreize continues his development with us. Newly signed puncher talent Mick Van Dijke is our other in-house talent for the season.

This is probably the best we've ever had it in the transfer window. A lot of things went right, allowing us to get many of our top targets. The aim going into transfers was to build on the team from last season by adding a couple of strong leaders. We managed to achieve a very good outcome from transfers, and at least on paper, look to have strengthened from last season. The main aim of the season is to consolidate our PCT place by pushing up into the top half of the table.

The Benoot training is very juicy. I think you have had a great transfer period, which definitely isn't always easy when being in a different timezone than all of the others. Your team will battle for wins and/or points in every terrain, and I'm happy that Oscar can be part of this magnificent team this season. I'm sure he'll come back to our team with many stories of beautiful victories and performances to be told about Philips

I agree that you have a pretty strong roster this year, with Choi and Benoot being the obvious top signings for the present and van Dijke the one for the future.
Choi is definitely a stronger stage racer than Penasa, so you should clearly score more points from those races. And while Benoot still isn't as strong as Wilco in terms of pure punch, he's much more well-rounded and versatile - looking forward to seeing him in action for you
Your cobblers might just be a tad too weak to fight for top results - but in what feels like a rather weak PCT cobbles class this year, they still could be of great value, especially with the Kuroedas having some sprint abilities as well.
In terms of pure sprints, let's see how lucky you are I never liked Minali's uphill stats, but he showed in PT last year that he could be a great asset for you Van Asbroeck will hopefully be able to use his versatility to full extent, then he'll bring in quite some points as well!
In terms of pure TT races, maybe Dumoulin can get a good individual result every now and then, but as you said, the goal was to strengthen the TTT core. While you probably still won't be competing for wins, at least your climbers won't lose the race in TTTs, either.
Overall, a really good job, and you will hopefully move far away from the relegation zone this year!
