We like to welcome our newest crop of loanees!
First we are very pleased to announce or Carribean duo: Hasani Hennis and Joshua Gayral. While both having very colorful names and flags to them, they're also very good versatile bike riders. Hennis can be utilized very well in the TT heavy stage races and may score points there with his allround skillset, including cobbles. We'll keep him away from our sprinters due to the flat stat, but he will get the chances he wants from breaks too and be a vital asset in TTTs. Gayral on the other hand will fill a lot of roles as he can ride any terrain. For PCM15 he would've been the perfect breakaway guy, now we see him as the perfect teammate especially in classics, and also one to attack whenever he can. We'd like to thank Podium Ambition for loaning them out to us, and also the very nice talks leading to that!
On the other side we also signed two climbers on loan: Viktor Verschaeve and Vadim Pronskiy. Pronskiy came to us replacing last years loanee Rikunov over from Popo4ever. He's a climber that can and will earn his bread and butter in the Grand Tours, on the attacks either going for themselves or supporting our more experienced attackers in the mountains. Verschaeve joins us from Indosat. He's very powerful for his statue and can turne a time trial as well. While he'll also ride a couple of Grand Tours, expect Verschaeve to be part of our Ardennes outfit as well with his power. Again, we'd like to thank the teams of Indosat and Popo4ever for trusting us to continue our great relationship with loan-ins performing awesome at Isostar.

The very best of 50k
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | Age | Wage | | Davide Villella | 72 | 65 | 77 | 61 | 72 | 74 | 67 | 63 | 65 | 80 | 74 | 70 | 61 | 31 | 50.000 | | Isaac Bolivar | 73 | 61 | 66 | 69 | 74 | 70 | 69 | 77 | 64 | 69 | 68 | 75 | 69 | 31 | 50.000 | | Idar Andersen | 75 | 67 | 68 | 69 | 67 | 72 | 64 | 63 | 67 | 67 | 70 | 68 | 72 | 23 | 50.000 |
Last year we got some of the big guys for 50k from the Free Agent market. This time we did it once more. There is no Romain Bardet in this crop of riders, but three great riders for all over the board.
With Davide Villella we've re-signed one of our last crop of riders. He didn't sign for 100k in renewals, so that's a contract shredded well. We love to see him back as he not only is a very capable attacker hunting stages and KOMs when Gaviria is not there, but also he is a handy rider for the Ardennes where he might lead us in races like the Amstel Gold Race. Very good to have him back despite all the new Italian CT teams surely wanting him
Isaac Bolivar is not a typical rider for us, but with the team's focus slowly but surely shifting towards a colombian focus he's fitting our squad. We needed a new lieutenant for David Per, and Bolivar can be exactly that on the hard cobbled races. We are looking forward to him on the monuments especially, but he'll also be a pretty nice assets in TTTs for us. At minimum wage the colombian is a fantastic rider for us.
Finally we've signed young Idar Andersen. He'll be our only (:/) Avenir-eligable rider this season, but adds to our flat stat armada. We like his versatility and envision him to be a great teammate for the next years. We might focus at him as either a pure fighter or mixing some time trial training in. It's amazing to have signed him as a level 3 rider with the perspective he has.
Nat. | Name | FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CB | SP | AC | FG | DH | PR | Age | | Idar Andersen | 75 | 67 | 68 | 69 | 67 | 72 | 64 | 63 | 67 | 67 | 70 | 68 | 72 | 23 | | Ftr Ftr | 80 | 69 | 70 | 71 | 70 | 75 | 67 | 65 | 69 | 70 | 74 | 70 | 74 | 23 | | Ftr TT | 80 | 68 | 70 | 72 | 70 | 76 | 67 | 64 | 68 | 69 | 73 | 69 | 75 | 23 | | TT TT | 79 | 68 | 70 | 73 | 70 | 76 | 67 | 63 | 67 | 67 | 73 | 68 | 76 | 23 | | SR SR | 76 | 71 | 71 | 73 | 70 | 75 | 68 | 63 | 67 | 68 | 71 | 68 | 76 | 23 | | Hi Hi | 77 | 69 | 73 | 70 | 71 | 74 | 66 | 63 | 68 | 70 | 73 | 69 | 73 | 23 |
We are leaning towards option 1, but let us know what you think. Also whether this crop or 50k riders can compete with the ones from the past that we loved at Isostar!

Meme-rider-presentations are always a win. A lvl 3 Idar Andersen and also min wages Bolivar and Vilella as well imo. Good luck with the hunt for the 3/3 this season

Idar Andersen was a steal at 50k.
Had plans of maybe going to war on him, but thought better of it.
Good luck sir

I also had Idar Andersen pretty high on my list. He's a really cool rider once maxed - but you probably don't keep him that long so that doesn't matter
Very impressive transferperiod for you once again mate.

Andersen at 50k is such a steal. Like i was planning to overbid you but felt like it was a wasted bid because he sticked out so much from the DB. Villella and Bolivar also great min wage additions though it doesnt match your haul from last season.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

I had similar options to Andersen to Krigbaum and ended up going with a TT/Stage Race combo to maximize his versatility and usefulness, but that was before the new fighter was introduced. With Andersen I definitely think fighter is the way to go, as he'll still be a serviceable last domestique for stage races if needed.

@jandal: Yeah enjoying those signings. What's your pick of the bunch?
@Nemolito: It's not quite a zealand-meme, but I still liked it Thank you for the wishes!
@hillis: Probably a good choice then, cause I thought the same about Hvideberg and decided to hold my fingers tight on another Norwegian as long as there is no overbid on "mine". Worked out well for both of us I guess
@SotD: Yes and no. With Villella and Bolivar I'm pretty sure that they're one-term riders at our squad, but I thought that with Villella last year as well. With Andersen I'm pretty sure I'll keep him as I love such rider types. You can see that on my hesitation of not selling Sweeny (and Rickaert) despite good offers and potentially good replacement possibilities. Thanks on the transfer verdict, though I'm not entirely sure yet, could've been much better and I was less convinced over transfers than I have been in the past years.
@knockout: Having no big main stats probably helps. But yeah, I'm very happy about that. But yes, it's no comparison to our 8 great min-wage riders last year, but the market also has been a lot tougher for such riders this year and my roster space has been naturally very limited.
@redordead: You'll have that surely.
@bbl: I can see the point you went with Krigbaum, but I'm pretty set on maximizing the flat stat, though I'd also like him contributing to potential TTT success. Guess it's option 1 for him though.

Replacing a captain like Lutsenko is smart
...I mean...ehhhh...hart
Loosing one of your captains sucks, especially if you want to keep him. If you loose him due to cap constraints, that feeling gets worse. If your wage structure is so f***ed up that you couldn't even fit your 4 leaders from last year with only those 4, 12 min-wage riders and 4 loan-ins without paying any wage then you know that you are absolutely f***ed. Guess what happened to us?!
We had to make a tough decision then: Who is leaving. At the end we decided that it would be impossible to give up fan favourite David Per. Similarly, self-trained Fernando Gaviria and Taylor Phinney had too many millions spent into them to let them go. The (sad) solution and only option for us was to let Alexey Lutsenko go. The Kazakh champion had a blast with us, being a main piece in our title hunt. He dearly cost us in two fan favoruites (Roglic & Mohoric), who we tried to get back in a trade but couldn't sign. Instead, we decided to split the quality of Lutsenko into riders that can at least try to fill the gaps Lutsenko left. Replacing him 1 on 1 is impossible anyway, as a rider of his quality just doesn't exist on lower wage, so we could never afford that with our wage cap.
The core piece to replace him came as one part of trading away Hart. Gazelles factory of spotting quality riders brought up plenty of good riders and are known to have some of the best scouting systems in the game. That's why we acquired British Stage Racing prodegy Tao Geogeghan Hart.
Tao Geoghegan Hart | Age: 27 | Lvl: 4.100 | Wage: 160k FL | MO | HI | TT | ST | RS | RC | CO | SP | AC | FT | DH | PR | 70 | 78 | 74 | 76 | 76 | 74 | 75 | 62 | 62 | 69 | 70 | 70 | 76 |
Tao is a rather strong climber, one of the diesel type. That's a pretty unique rider type for Isostar, as the team has a tradition of regularly going for punchy, more attacking climbers in the past, starting with Igor Anton in the first year and then evolving via the likes of Domen Novak or Aleks Roman. This time it's different with the secondary stage racer Hart, who will probably lead us in a Grand Tour and plenty of Stage Races.
He follows a small british stage racing tradition however, as Thomas Faiers played his part in our miraculous back-to-back promotion in the our 2nd year. We also expect him to complement Taylor Phinney well, who once again goes for a stage racing program without a Grand Tour and plenty of (possibly surprising) PTHC stints including the famous Volta ao Portugal. This will make Hart mainly focus on a PT heavy schedule for stage racing. We're hoping that he can prove our high hopes in him absolutely right!

Phinney in Portugal? Oh god no thanks
TGH is such an awesome signing, Gazelle very generous this transfers offloading both him and Poweless. Hope he does really well for you, I do wonder if you may have future training for land for him though?
