We're doubling it up on the double! After defending the PT title, we were amazed with Taylor Phinney taking back the WC ITT crown with an amazing ride. What a home ride with the highest of stakes on the line!
At the end he shaved of half a minute of the rides by Tenorio and Würtz to take home the crown! That also means he'll ride in a classic Time Trial World Champions Shirt though. Not without the twist of our fantastic Isostar splashes on the shirt. Rumor has it some people are happy he doesn't put the US-NC on, but we would've loved both.
After winning the ITT we got back to the Road Race with medium expectations. Gaviria benefitted from a good train last season, but wasn't on top of the favourites list without notable support. However, he did well to pilot himself through the finale, finishing the race of with a stellar sprint to win the title!
What a ride for Fernando. We could've just taken the same shirt as for phinney in the RR edition, but our awesome designer hillis91 designed it slightly differently. Look at the most special WC shirt we could've imagined, the ultimate prize for Fernando Gaviria to wear.

Huge money for Gaviria, but I guess he kinda deserved it

I guess Bardet asked for a lot of money, otherwise I would have seen him as one of the "secure" guys. Especially seeing the amount of new french CT sides who would have probably been very keen on buying him.
Well done with renewals btw. I would have expected your team to be torn apart, seeing how some of my PT winning sides had monstrous salaries. You managed to keep all the leaders within the wage cap. That's pretty good, although lacking 8 riders can't really be done through loans, so I suspect some changes will happen

@redordead: thank the broken ovl-calculation...
@SotD: Yes indeed, I would've liked to keep Bardet but his wage demands were insane. I went over my initial limit but it still wasn't enough. It was an awesome year, but I guess times end.
But yeah, that's the sentiment of the whole renewals. Will only keep 3 of the 4 leaders, guess there got to be an announcement soon. But I guess you might guess who has to leave. But yeah, there'll be another year where we need to do plenty of reshuffling.

Bit late to that party but I wanted to say that I'm in love with your new jersey, and the world champion jerseys in particular. Absolutely remarkably done by hillis.
Curious to see which approach you'll take in transfers. Whatever leader has to go (I have an idea who it might be) will need to be at least somewhat replaced on that terrain, I suppose. But like SotD said, there are quite a few spots to be filled on the roster. I have no doubt that you'll end up with a team competing for the PT crown again though

Not surprising to see all those massive wages given your huge success last year. But it obviously still hurts ^^
However, I've got no doubt that you'll find a great solution and be competitive once again at the very top of the division!
Of the released guys, I guess Scully could find a Kiwi home and Bardet might get quite a massive wage elsewhere ^^

Yeah, the performances definitely led to some higher wages, but I have 100% faith you'll figure it out and somehow find a way to get even better next year. Cause that's what you do.

Almost untradeable

Barnabas Peak
Jonas Rickaert
Harry Sweeny
For the right Offer
Aleksandar Roman (PT 2020: 361 points, PT 2021: 428 points)
Shaun Nick Bester (awesome allrounder on allmost min-wage)
For Sale
Gavin Mannion (great climber on almost min-wage)
Pawel Bernas (PT 2021: 221 points, great attacker on low wage)
Antonio Pedrero (min wage, great climbing stats)
Superstar Sale
Alexey Lutsenko (PT 2020: 7th, 1548 points, PT 2021: 12th, 1502 points)
A lot is focussed on Alexey Lutsenko. We sadly can't fit him into our plans anymore due to the success of last season. He's the best possible rider to build your Pro Tour title chance or survival around, being the 2nd best puncheur in the world (behind MAL) and having plenty of years while other puncheurs decline. We'll either look for a very high fee or, more probably, 1-2 good replacement riders on lower wage and a good fee.

Glad to see Tom Scully without a team, hope it stays that way. Very interested in your moves this off season, obviously there's so many crazy sales going on but Lutsenko is an absolute headliner for the story of transfers, wonder where he goes

Hot damn, that Gaviria wage makes Caleb Ewan look like an excellent transfer option for any interested managers (yes i'm promoting my own sales in someone else's thread #ad)!
Lots of open roster spots, which of course everyone should watch because you've become one of the kings of the MG.

A shame that you couldnt keep that quartett together. Would have been so cool to see the band stay together for one more ride.
Lutsenko obviously one of the biggest stars available on the market, that sale should give you enough material/cash to transform your roster in whatever way you want...

Man, what a wild offseason in terms of big name transfers this might end up being Someone will be very happy with Lutsenko, I think. And I'm sure you'll find a good way of spending that incoming money, too

I just overread the best puncheur in the world part now.
There only is one and he is neither MAL nor Lutsenko. |

A bit surprising that Lutsenko is the one on the block. Obviously Phinney is the GOAT and harder to replace, but he's also the one that's 32. Although at his level, he'll still have tremendous value the next few years after decline anyway.
And of course, very interested to see what you end up doing with the cash. I imagine some heavy Per training is in the cards.

Sad that you can't keep the hard-earned quartet together, but I'm sure you'll get your replacements and mount another serious title challenge (or better) this season. Looking forward to see your transfer window moves

Lucky me it's your overall calculation where you made him better than de Bie for a reason, so that ends the discussion
