Hi everyone,
I'm Evertonian, leading this fresh new team to glory in the continental league. While still figuring everything out I will be posting my first thread in here with some background information of the team that I have created and their goals.
As I won't have any lack in ambition, creativity and clear set goals, I do lack in skills for designing my own shirt in whatever way needed. So if anyone would be able to help me to put my idea's into something tangible, that would be much appreciated.
I'm looking forward to join the ranks and bring this team to glory!
Team information
Name: Royal Canin Petfood
Sponsor: Royal Canin
Nationality: France
Team & sponsor background
I present you the team manger, Bastien Cathary, son of the founder and heir to the world wide company known as Royal Canin. As a young boy this true French patriot fell in love with two things, dogs and cycling. As he grew up and eventually took over the company he also saw cycling developing into its current glory. Founding his own cycling team has always been his dream and 2022 would be the year Bastien takes the leap. His team should not only join the big races, it should also propagate everything he stands for, his love for pets and his country.
As Bastien took his first step in founding his team, it's now time to find some riders to ride races and material for them to ride with. While finding his riders he took the liberty to set up some hard requirements:
- The rider must be French
- The rider must own at least two pets
- The rider must know the lyrics of "La Marseillaise"
I'm sure that Bastien will succeed in finding his riders and assemble his team in time before the start of the new season! |

Interesting to see if you're going to be able to stick to your very strict recruitment strategy, with a lot of teams being interested in the market, despite one of the top French outfits in Festina fully changing their scope! Welcome to the game!

Only French riders? That will definitely not be too easy if you want to compete for promotion I think. Nevertheless, you should still be able to find some decent riders and obviously nice talents. Looking forward to whether you'll stay with your strategy throughout the transfer season. Best of luck

Loving the strict nationality focus! But as others have said, it's going to be difficult to stick to considering the influx of teams in the region. Loving the team background and looking forward to learning more about your project

I'm interested to see if you can achieve an all 'French' team
Good luck

Welcome to the show
You definitely have an ambitious target of signing only French riders - with 122 French FAs pre-renewals that should actually be pretty easy to achieve, but getting 15 Frenchies with good scoring potential is another topic
All the best, and I'm happy to know at least one team that won't be competing for my (probable) main targets

Thanks everyone Based on all the reactions and some signals I've been getting it might indeed be more difficult as expected up front, but I will try to stick (as much as possibe) to said limits. I suppose time will tell |

Agree with others that an all French team may be difficult given the influx this year, but I admire your commitment to a regional project. It makes the whole game more satisfying in my opinion.

Ha ! Love that shirt !
Stick with the French plan but don't be too absolute about it ! by saying you will only sign French riders you risk that others will use that to drive up wages ! Give yourself a bit of flexibility

You are absolutely right, I might be able to build in some flexibility by widening my scope to French speakers instead of just natives, giving me some room to look for Canadians, Belgians, Swiss and some African riders |

No need to extend your search to Switzerland, we're already 3 managers battling for the few talents there are
And anyway, almost none of the Swiss riders currently in the game actually speak French (trust me, most German-speaking Swiss forget everything about French once they leave school )
In all seriousness, happy to talk about a few of them if the opportunity arises, just hit me up during transfers
And I definitely second Mac on the jersey - perfect fit for your team, and probably well recognizable in the peloton Like it!

*Frantically starts checking which African countries are French-speaking*
Good luck in the French bloodbath in transfers - looking forward seeing how you go there

To quote from my MG application:
I like to play with a strong focus on the region of my sponsor and somehow related regions (f.e. neighbours or countries with the same language).
So no way to escape the carnage that way either (for both of us)
But another really nice shirt to see in all those common races to come.

Maybe we can talk about some 'french' riders during transfers

Better late than never - But a big and warm welcome to the game!
Lovely jersey design btw.
As a former french focused team (for many years) I can fully understand the focus and interest. Starting up from scratch and an ambition of 100% French from the get go. Not so much. That will be a very limiting experience in terms of fully understanding and feeling the flow of the Transfer season so I wouldn't recommend that.
75-80% French would be possible, that would leave 2-3 riders from abroad to cover some obvious weak spots. French riders aren't the easiest to pick up so you might want to cover some ground with alternative nationalities for the first season or two. Atleast I think you'll get the best experience from the game with doing so.
