Giro dell'Emelia - Preview
It's the final day of the 2021 Cycling Season! We gather in Bologna, Italy, for the Giro dell'Emelia, a race which has been on the Calendar forever. This season, the race finds itself HC categorised which means most of the riders here are from the Pro-Continental Tour with some from the Continental Tour as well.
As it is the last day of the season, there are of course stories to watch throughout the Pro-Continental Division with teams fighting for promotion to the pinnacle of Cycling as well as attempting to remain within the division to avoid relegation to the Continental Tour.
We have many riders here who have a history with this race, whether that be in the form of a Win, a Podium or a Top 5/10.
For this edition, we have 4 main favourites. They are Hagen, Bobridge, Skujins and Kinoshita. All 4 of these riders will be expecting to be fighting for the win, or at the very least a podium. They are all of similar quality and not particularly aggressive but have got the punch to contest an uphill sprint, should this race come to that.
Kelderman is another rider to watch. The Dutchman has had a very disappointing season by his standards and will consider this to be an audition for the upcoming Transfer Window.
Ponzi is an interesting rider too as he comes with the ability to finish strongly as well as stick with the favourites throughout.
Other riders to watch include Kwiatkowski and Beltran. both riders have upset the top favourites this season and will hope to do so yet again.
We also have to highlight Prevar who won this race last season.

Go go Vliegen! I appreciate seeing him in the preview, thanks LLS Really, I'm hoping for some breakaway action from us, and ideally not a zero pointer. The course honestly should suit Ndayisenga pretty well, but I'm afraid our guys will just get stuck in the back of the peloton. If Khederi or Vendrame get into the break, maybe they can then hang on once caught.
But let's face it, it's really not that important how the Bralirwa guys are doing Good luck to everyone whose season hangs in the balance here!

This is a race for Borges, but it's always a case of good legs in such a stacked field. It would be could to finish the season on a high note though. Good luck everyone and thanks for the preview LLS!

Can only second Gustavovskiy. Great legs will be needed in such a stacked field, and of course a little bit of luck startining the final climb to the finish line. Would be great if Kwiatkowski can finish the season on a high. He has Amezawa and Galta as super domestiques, which should make us one of the teams willing to control things in the final kilometers, due to their strength. |

Hagen leaves anyway, but would be nice of him to finally get a win under his belt.

If Mo/Res somewhat come into play, Gianni could do a good job, especially if he's well seconded by Pernsteiner and Masnada. But it has more often than not not worked out this year, so it looks pretty much like we're going to be back to CT after this race - if CT even exists next year, that is ^^

We are going to need one hell of a race from TJ to save our season after doing everything we can to throw it away in the last few races.
He's as much fighting for our survival as he is fighting to avoid free agency at this point as I'd be surprised if we could afford him in CT.

Crazy race, half the division needing their riders to ride out of their skin for a result. All of us relegation fodder seem to have decent leaders and depth which is ridiculous and seems that daily form will decide the race and relegation spots ultimately. Hopefully Jensen is up for it, if he can land in the top-10 we should be safe. Dunbar is great support and should be up for it after his most recent outing
Good luck to everyone.
Thanks for the preview also!

Toms Skujins is anything but a favourite for this race. I will be shocked if he makes it inside the Top 10. Fortunately, there is an exciting relegation battle for me to watch! |

At the time I thought sending Spilak here was a managerial mastermove, but looking at that startlist... damn. Luckily we probably don't have anything left to lose or win, opposed to many others that are so incredibly close to each other. Looking forward to the report, thanks already for the nice preview LLS

Absolutely no expectations of anything. If Aranburu tries at all, it's fine.

Ah fuck 24th ain’t gonna cut it. Sweating on the rankings update, Voyagin, Philips and hopefully Sauber are safe after that right?
That was about the worst result we could have hoped for, Jensen was at the front except for when it mattered. I hope that hasn’t cost us our place in PCT. I don’t think it has, but not getting comfortable yet.
Thanks for the report LLS, and congrats to Valverde. Kinoshita turned it on big time here.

I don't know if that was enough but I really can't fault the team for going all out and controlling the race by neutralising the attacks to give TJ his best shot. Obviously I hope we made it back up to safety but can't really say anyone of us fighting for the last spots deserve to go down, someone's going to end up feeling unlucky when the final rankings are announced.
With how close it's been what happens if it's a tie for the last spot?

Love those clutch performances from Kinoshita and Kelderman, true class delivering in the biggest moment! Won't count any chickens until it's 100% but surely it's enough for both

Big one from Wilco, great race for Abhi Meanwhile Spilak in 25th is a bit below what I orginally hoped, but understandable of course. Thanks for the final (PCT) race of the season to LLS for the 100th+ time almost I suppose. Congratulations to valverde for the important win as well!

Unfortunate to end up with zero points here, but at least we had someone in the break again. Congrats valv, clutch by Kinoshita. I'll try to get the final rankings posted tonight!
