Let's look at all participating teams in detail:
| | | | | | | | | Aker-MOT | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Anderberg | Hampus | SWD | 25 | 78 | 77 | 78 | | | Ballerini | Davide | ITA | 27 | 73 | 73 | 71 | | | Frankovic | Mateo | CRO | 27 | 74 | 71 | 67 | | | Jansen | Amund Grondahl | NOR | 27 | 72 | 75 | 76 | | | Kaislavuo | Jesse | FIN | 28 | 73 | 73 | 73 | | | Ngandamba | Geoffroy | GAB | 32 | 72 | 73 | 74 | | | Peng | Yuan Tan | TPE | 28 | 75 | 74 | 75 | | | Videika | Airidas | LTU | 27 | 74 | 68 | 73
Hampus Anderberg was fifth in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, 1'38" behind Stallaert.
Aker - MOT had also Grondahl Jansen and Ngandamba in the top-11, so the depth is secured. Grondahl Jansen himself won GP Herning.
| | | | | | | | | Binance Cycling | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Bush | Robert | USA | 31 | 74 | 75 | 78 | | | Venturini | Clement | FRA | 28 | 75 | 74 | 72 | | | Antunes | Amaro | POR | 31 | 67 | 71 | 55 | | | Afonso | Luis | POR | 31 | 68 | 75 | 52 | | | Noppe | Christophe | BEL | 27 | 75 | 74 | 73 | | | Tzortzakis | Polychronis | GRE | 32 | 70 | 74 | 55 | | | Stavrakakis | Georgios | GRE | 23 | 72 | 70 | 72 | | | Yates | Joel | NZL | 25 | 69 | 73 | 63
American Robert Bush was sixth in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Given the opposition, Binance will sign for another result like that.
The support will come from Clement Venturini, Christophe Noppe and young Georgios Stavrakakis.
| | | | | | | | | Bralirwa-Stevens | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Lampaert | Yves | BEL | 30 | 75 | 74 | 78 | | | Mugisha | Moise | RWA | 24 | 66 | 62 | 60 | | | Okbamariam | Tesfom | ERI | 30 | 73 | 70 | 76 | | | Mugisha | Samuel | RWA | 24 | 72 | 67 | 63 | | | Schoonbroodt | Bob | NED | 30 | 72 | 75 | 74 | | | Stallaert | Joeri | BEL | 30 | 77 | 76 | 81
Joeri Stallaert is the top favourite for this Roma Maxima. The Belgian won Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and is looking for another win.
With Lampaert and Schoonbroodt, they have two riders who finished in the top-10 of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and GP Herning respectively.
| | | | | | | | | Carlsberg-Danske Bank | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Cannister | Goldwijnn | CUR | 22 | 67 | 68 | 66 | | | Forssell | Hugo | SWD | 22 | 64 | 66 | 57 | | | Kulppi | Olli | FIN | 30 | 73 | 73 | 77 | | | Lander | Sebastian | DEN | 30 | 77 | 77 | 73 | | | Sinkeldam | Ramon | NED | 32 | 74 | 74 | 77 | | | Stocek | Matus | SVK | 22 | 68 | 68 | 67 | | | Suter | Joel | SWI | 23 | 71 | 70 | 66 | | | Trentin | Matteo | ITA | 32 | 74 | 76 | 81
Leader Matteo Trentin finished seventh in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, earlier this year. The Danish squad will hope for more.
The trio Kulppi, Lander and Sinkeldam could secure even more points in the background.
| | | | | | | | | Carrefour-ESPN | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Bercz | Patrick | GER | 32 | 72 | 73 | 66 | | | Colleoni | Kevin | ITA | 22 | 65 | 65 | 60 | | | Dainese | Alberto | ITA | 23 | 72 | 71 | 61 | | | Dakteris | Janis | LAT | 30 | 75 | 74 | 72 | | | Daniel | Maxime | FRA | 30 | 73 | 76 | 80 | | | Nolf | Frederik | BEL | 34 | 72 | 74 | 78 | | | Nzeke | Geremie | CMR | 31 | 67 | 72 | 63 | | | Skala | Jakub | CZE | 28 | 74 | 70 | 74
Maxime Daniel is one of the guys to watch, especially after his performance in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (second after Stallaert).
The Frenchman will be supported by the experienced Frederik Nolf, who finished ninth in Viana do Castelo.
| | | | | | | | | Crabbe-CC Chevigny | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Tsatevich | Alexey | RUS | 32 | 74 | 74 | 75 | | | Naesen | Oliver | BEL | 31 | 75 | 77 | 76 | | | Declerq | Tim | BEL | 32 | 74 | 73 | 77 | | | Manakov | Viktor | RUS | 29 | 77 | 77 | 75 | | | Ariesen | Tim | NED | 27 | 75 | 74 | 75 | | | Domene | Ramon | ESP | 31 | 73 | 73 | 76 | | | Serry | Pieter | BEL | 33 | 67 | 69 | 66 | | | Nareklishvili | Beka | GEO | 25 | 66 | 67 | 70
Viktor Manakov has already won Gent-Wevelgem earlier this season. Given the opposition, the Russian can hope for a top-15 listing.
Crabbe-CC Chevigny also brings Tsatevich, Naesen and Declerq to give them further depth.
| | | | | | | | | Eddie Stobart | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Meyer | Travis | AUS | 32 | 74 | 74 | 53 | | | Cimolai | Davide | ITA | 32 | 74 | 74 | 64 | | | Bogdanovics | Maris | LAT | 30 | 73 | 74 | 60 | | | Pushpakumara | Gihan | SRI | 31 | 72 | 71 | 62 | | | Agostini | Stefano | ITA | 32 | 68 | 78 | 59 | | | Medvedev | Dmitri | RUS | 34 | 61 | 60 | 63 | | | Malacarne | Davide | ITA | 34 | 64 | 67 | 65 | | | Savini | Daniel | ITA | 24 | 67 | 65 | 59
Eddie Stobart doesn't carry high expectations to this race. Maybe an early breakaway to please their sponsors.
| | | | | | | | | Eurosport x GCN | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Blythe | Adam | GBR | 32 | 76 | 76 | 82 | | | Moulingui | Clenne Morvan | GAB | 26 | 74 | 71 | 78 | | | Insausti | Jon Ander | ESP | 29 | 70 | 76 | 77 | | | Groves | Kaden | AUS | 23 | 71 | 72 | 65 | | | Rutsch | Jonas | GER | 23 | 73 | 72 | 71 | | | Stedman | Max | GBR | 25 | 68 | 66 | 61 | | | Doull | Owain | GBR | 28 | 72 | 71 | 71 | | | Carr | Simon | GBR | 23 | 66 | 70 | 55
Eurosport x GCN brings with Adam Blythe another big gun. Blythe was on the podium of Omloop het Nieuwsblad, which had similar opposition.
The support will come from Clenne Morvan Moulingui and Jon Ander Insausti.
| | | | | | | | | Hello Fresh | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Van Keirsbulck | Guillaume | BEL | 30 | 72 | 75 | 78 | | | Thwaites | Scott | GBR | 31 | 73 | 74 | 76 | | | Riesebeek | Oscar | NED | 29 | 74 | 73 | 73 | | | Battaglin | Enrico | ITA | 32 | 67 | 69 | 50 | | | Stash | Mamyr | RUS | 28 | 73 | 68 | 67 | | | Kumara | Amith Udaya | SRI | 26 | 74 | 74 | 75 | | | Puccio | Salvatore | ITA | 32 | 72 | 76 | 78 | | | Walls | Matthew | GBR | 23 | 68 | 68 | 60
HelloFresh had two guys in the top-10 in Gent-Wevelgem: Salvatore Puccio and Guillaume Van Keirsbulck. Van Keirsbulck also finished 8th in Viana do Castelo.
They are looking for another good performance. The duo will be supported by Thwaites, Kamara and Riesebeek.
| | | | | | | | | Lierse SK-Pizza Ullo | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Vanbilsen | Kenneth | BEL | 31 | 78 | 80 | 80 | | | Gamper | Patrick | AUT | 24 | 75 | 75 | 76 | | | Verhelst | Louis | BEL | 31 | 71 | 72 | 74 | | | Biermans | Jenthe | BEL | 26 | 77 | 71 | 71 | | | Aleotti | Giovanni | ITA | 22 | 71 | 71 | 62 | | | Van Aert | Wout | BEL | 27 | 75 | 72 | 68 | | | Siddikov | Dilmurdjon | UZB | 24 | 71 | 72 | 68 | | | Verwilst | Aaron | BEL | 24 | 72 | 67 | 68
Kenneth Vanbilsen is predicted to be one of the top favourites for this race. He needs better form than Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, where the Belgian finished 14th.
Lierse SK also brings Patrick Gamper at the start. He was already succesful in the Portugese Viana do Castelo.
| | | | | | | | | Minions | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Zepuntke | Ruben | GER | 28 | 72 | 79 | 82 | | | Lindeman | Bert-Jan | NED | 32 | 73 | 72 | 76 | | | Sweeck | Laurens | BEL | 28 | 73 | 71 | 76 | | | Marcos | Leandro | CUB | 30 | 74 | 71 | 74 | | | De Witte | Mathias | BEL | 28 | 74 | 75 | 75 | | | Selander | Bjorn | USA | 33 | 70 | 72 | 62 | | | Vansevenant | Mauri | BEL | 22 | 72 | 74 | 62 | | | Nechita | Andrei | ROM | 33 | 73 | 71 | 70
Ruben Zepuntke will look for revenge after a dissapointing Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (20th), even behind own teammate Sweeck.
Minions could be inspired by their performance in GP Herning, where four riders finished in the top-19 (De Witte, Sweeck, Marcos and Lindeman).
| | | | | | | | | Philips-Force India | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Van Asbroeck | Tom | BEL | 31 | 75 | 75 | 74 | | | Bovenhuis | Jasper | NED | 30 | 73 | 74 | 74 | | | David | Tom | NZL | 31 | 74 | 76 | 78 | | | Dumoulin | Tom | NED | 31 | 71 | 75 | 52 | | | Kooistra | Marten | NED | 24 | 69 | 68 | 66 | | | Moricz | Daniel | HUN | 25 | 70 | 70 | 72 | | | Paprstka | Tomas | CZE | 29 | 75 | 74 | 75 | | | Leemreize | Gijs | NED | 22 | 65 | 66 | 60
Leader Tom David was seventh in this year's Viana do Castelo. He should aim for another spot in top-10 in Roma Maxima.
The help will come from Tomas Paprstka, Tom Van Asbroeck and Jasper Bovenhuis.
| | | | | | | | | Podium Ambition | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Altur | Marcos | ESP | 28 | 75 | 75 | 82 | | | Owen | Logan | USA | 26 | 73 | 73 | 78 | | | Edmondson | Alexander | AUS | 28 | 73 | 72 | 74 | | | Matthews | Darren | BAR | 30 | 72 | 70 | 75 | | | Bridges | Jyme | ANT | 32 | 74 | 72 | 71 | | | Gayral | Joshua | ANT | 24 | 72 | 69 | 70 | | | Campbell | Akil | TRI | 25 | 71 | 65 | 70 | | | Perez | Cristian | CUB | 22 | 68 | 69 | 69
Podium Ambition has one outspoken favorite: Spaniard Marcus Altur. Altur was eighth in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
The team has a really solid core on the cobbles. Logan Owen and Darren Matthews should be able to support Altur in the final.
| | | | | | | | | Polar | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Barthe | Cyril | FRA | 25 | 73 | 73 | 69 | | | Baugnies | Jerome | BEL | 34 | 76 | 77 | 78 | | | Bernaudeau | Mathieu | FRA | 33 | 72 | 68 | 52 | | | Garcia Cortina | Ivan | ESP | 26 | 76 | 76 | 74 | | | Jallays | Welle | BEL | 32 | 75 | 69 | 64 | | | Kwok | Ho-Ting | HKG | 33 | 75 | 72 | 52 | | | Manamalage | Nipuna Shira | SRI | 29 | 81 | 71 | 77 | | | Postlberger | Lukas | AUT | 29 | 73 | 75 | 56
Polar has three good cards to play with Jerome Baugnies, Nipuna Shira Manamalage and Ivan Garcia Cortina.
Baugnies is by far the most experienced of the trio, maybe that should help him for a good result.
| | | | | | | | | Strava | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Felline | Fabio | ITA | 31 | 68 | 75 | 57 | | | Palini | Andrea | ITA | 32 | 69 | 75 | 54 | | | Sanikwathi | Thanawut | THA | 28 | 72 | 70 | 72 | | | Molard | Rudy | FRA | 32 | 68 | 73 | 65 | | | Tarvis | Peeter | EST | 28 | 76 | 74 | 68 | | | Nielsen | Joanis Albert | FAR | 28 | 75 | 71 | 74 | | | Kuznetsov | Vyacheslav | RUS | 32 | 76 | 75 | 69 | | | Oss | Daniel | ITA | 34 | 73 | 69 | 63
Thanawut Sanikwathi finished third in Gent-Wevelgem, behind Manakov and Vanmarcke.
He shares the leader role together with Joanis Albert Nielsen from Faeroer.
| | | | | | | | | Tafjord-Kraft | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Bugge | Vegard Robinson | NOR | 32 | 69 | 73 | 68 | | | Doubey | Fabien | FRA | 28 | 71 | 72 | 55 | | | Atapuma | Darwin | COL | 33 | 65 | 69 | 51 | | | Mahdar | Martin | SVK | 32 | 70 | 73 | 53 | | | Schorn | Daniel | AUT | 33 | 75 | 65 | 61 | | | Andersen | Sander | DEN | 22 | 66 | 65 | 61 | | | Urianstad | Martin | NOR | 22 | 68 | 68 | 63 | | | Hjemsaeter | Olav | NOR | 22 | 66 | 63 | 63
Tajford Kraft is mainly here for the experience and an early breakaway. They have three neo pros in Andersen, Urianstad and Hjemsaeter.
| | | | | | | | | Team UBS | PT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Bohli | Tom | SWI | 27 | 74 | 79 | 77 | | | Cemazar | Nik | SLO | 22 | 68 | 68 | 56 | | | Fominykh | Daniil | KAZ | 30 | 74 | 74 | 54 | | | Fuchs | Dominik | SWI | 31 | 68 | 75 | 55 | | | Grand | Arnaud | SWI | 31 | 72 | 74 | 77 | | | Jacobs | Johan | SWI | 24 | 72 | 72 | 73 | | | Schäppi | Martin | SWI | 25 | 72 | 74 | 76 | | | Spengler | Lukas | SWI | 27 | 74 | 72 | 83
Lukas Splenger will look for another good result, after he finished fourth in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
Team UBS brings a nice collection of Swiss cobblers like Bohli, Grand and Schäppi, who can easily score themselves.
| | | | | | | | | Trans Looney Tunes | CT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Vanspeybrouck | Pieter | BEL | 34 | 74 | 75 | 80 | | | Keukeleire | Jens | BEL | 33 | 71 | 71 | 70 | | | Kolev | Iliyan | BUL | 27 | 75 | 73 | 77 | | | Abraha | Tesfay | ERI | 31 | 72 | 70 | 75 | | | Primozic | Jaka | SLO | 23 | 67 | 75 | 61 | | | Munoz | Cristian | COL | 25 | 63 | 64 | 65
Pieter Vanspeybrouck is one of the best cobblers in CT division. The Belgian was 4th in Viana do Castelo and 3rd in GP Herning.
Iliyan Kolev, last year at Isostar-Specialized, looks to be his main support on the Italian roads.
| | | | | | | | | Voyagin-Bird | PCT |
Last name | First name | Country | Age | FLA | STM | COB | | | Kuroeda | Saya | JPN | 26 | 74 | 72 | 77 | | | Kuroeda | Shiki | JPN | 29 | 72 | 76 | 76 | | | Shirota | Yamato | JPN | 27 | 68 | 69 | 55 | | | Arashiro | Yudai | JPN | 26 | 81 | 71 | 68 | | | Cheung | King Lok | HKG | 30 | 75 | 72 | 57 | | | Bagioli | Andrea | ITA | 22 | 69 | 70 | 60 | | | Matsuda | Shoi | JPN | 22 | 69 | 65 | 60 | | | Barbier | Pierre | FRA | 24 | 67 | 67 | 66
The last team of the preview is Voyagin-Bird. Saya and Shiki Kuroeda are the men to watch.
Saya Kuroeda finished 17th in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Apart from these two, it will be hard to influence the race.

Good luck to all participants! This preview was made around Christmas, so not all results are taken into account.

I agree that David should probably be hoping for a Top 10 finish. Some more depth points for us would be nice.
Thanks for the great preview

Thank you for a great preview!
Hopeful for this one. Very flat cobble sections, which should suit Anderberg very well. He has been solid so far this cobbles season, and it would be great if he can continue and fight for a top 5 here.
Also, really hope we can use our depth well here, like we’ve done on a couple of occasions. At least our team should give us the opportunity to bring home depth points. |

Great preview!
Hoping for an E3 and not a Kuurne! Same lineup from us and pretty much the same competition pool. It could go either way, though flatter cobbles mean a few of the other guys are more suited than they were in previous classics. Trentin will have to focus on surviving and then using his sprint.

Obviously up against it here, but really praying for a top 10 just to keep a stellar points flow going. Thanks for a great preview!

I keep reading you say this and then the rankings come around and you're like 9th or something I do not want you to relegate either though, so Go Altur! Though ideally, Go Stallaert even a little more. He has yet to finish worse than 4th in a flat cobble classic this year, if he keeps that quote, I'll be more than happy.
Appreciate the preview Laurens, though if I may say so, I would prefer to see a few more stats at least from the favorites, like resistance, acceleration and on a profile like this with that long-ish ascent maybe even hi/mo. Other than that, top notch as always

I'll take 5th in a sprint. Vanbilsen tried a few times but there's just too many riders prefering a sprint this year.
Funny how the game always considers Vanbilsen as the top favourite though. Thanks for the report!

Oh Stallaert <3 the gift that keeps on giving. I was afraid he was at the front too early, in all of the 5km, 2km and 1km screenshots, but that big boi sprint is enough to pull through even from that position. Interesting race and a nice report, thanks Nemo!

Big one for the Africans once more, I love it. Good to see the favourites battle it off and having the best one take the bacon.

Nice to see Zepuntke active, even though he deserved better than eighth in my opinion. Definitely not the worst race of the season.
Thanks Nemolito for the report and congrats cunego!

Nice to see Stallaert's sprint was powerful enough to hold off everyone despite his early launch and front positioning. Congrats cunego!
Very happy with our performance here. I was worried that Trentin would struggle after seeing we sent so many guys into the early break including our best lieutenants. Then when the first group split off for good, I was even more nervous to see Trentin barely tagging on in 13th position. Then again when he visibly cracked before any of the others during the sprint. But in the end, Matteo continued to show his strength against the rest. I think the hill in the final helped him take back some energy over the others.
3rd here is great. A top 5 is basically our goal in any cobbled classic at the PCT level, and he bettered that expectation by grabbing third. Nice chunk of points, supplemented a little by Kulppi and Sinkeldam retaining minor placings as well. It's satisfying to see your leaders going out and getting the job done, even without any flash.
Thanks for an awesome report Nemolito! You earn that awards nomination every single time.

Oh, that was painfully close to an amazing win. Despite only finishing 10th, that might be Alturs best ride in a T3A jersey. Smart & strong attacking riding to get him away from better sprinters. Very close to pulling it off.
Edmo the surprise of the race to take 12th. The Aussie really going very strongle to get us some depth points.
Wolverine heading the 3rd group shows some good signs as we continue to try and grow him into a better rider.

Congrats cunego and thanks Nemo! Really enjoyable race to follow. I'm happy Spengler was active and surprised that he landed 6th here with the hill towards the end.

Bit frustrating to have our rider be last once again from a reduced bunch sprint. 11th is probably about where David should be in this field, but still feels like a missed opportunity. No depth points isn't good either.
Congrats to cunego once again and thanks to Nemo for another great report
