Benoot leaving DSM confirmed, has signed with Jumbo-Visma. Big improvement for WVA's classics squad, together with Laporte. Also curious to see how this dynamic will work out next year.

Sporza released a big report on Team DSM today, they don't come out well. I'll try to translate a few of the passages later today.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

USSR is back and putting up a fight in Ecuador. Well, not quite Smile, but there are some reminders of the former Cold War giant in Vuelta al Ecuador, after 2 stages Lenin Montenegro is first in the GC and Stalin Puentestar is leading the mountain classification.

And that's not all, because the Spartans are here as well, HA-OOH, HA-OOH, HA-OOH! The Intermediate Sprints Classification is led by Leonidas Novoa.

Just saw the news that the Wollongong TT will be the exact same course and distance for men and women. A weird twisted way at looking at equality when you'd rather completely fuck the men's TT in the name of equality. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having shorter distance women's TT. Having them on the same day is an actual good decision that means that there probably going to be more eyes on women's cycling which is what the ultimate aim should be. One of the things that makes women's roadracing enjoyable is the shorter parcours that offer more explosive racing and its literally been cited by female pros in interviews as one of the best things about the sport.

Still confused why the UCI chose Woollongong when there’s so, so many better places the race could have been held in Aus. A worlds in Far North Queensland would have been incredible with the scenery.

Studied and worked in Ecuador. The president is also called Lenin, and there are quite a lot of Vladimir's as well. Definitely not the names I would have expected in South America, but definitely the names I'll be suggesting for MG Pfft

I guess we'll be fighting over some of them. Grin

Sponsorship uncertainty really puts this whole sport in a constant state of applying ducktap to a sinking ship... Even Assos does not commit to the team a single bit, just referring to a wait and see.

And then you have teams like UAE, Ineos, and Bahrain who literally print money and can provide stability & excellent wages to riders and we get one-sided racing that makes everything worse, as money-hungry teams find it difficult to get results to satisfy sponsors.

Worthy goals. Have to wonder how many more chances he has at those. At 31, he's already starting to get to the age where a lot of sprinters slow down, and that knee injury could already hurt. He's also a pure sprinter, so he doesn't have anywhere to transition focus too once he loses a few spins on his acceleration. This might be his last chance at rainbow in particular, as he'll probably be 35+ by the next time it's sprinter friendly.

It'll be hard to do win the stripes though with the ever-small Irish national team behind him. People ask how much of his recent success was due to Quickstep's trains - well this will be the exact opposite situation for him. There are barely any WT caliber Irish riders besides him at the moment, and the ones who are there (Dunbar?) are not guys you anticipate being forceful engines in a sprint train.
