Vuelta al Tachira Discussion
Croatia14
I have to say that these reports are insanely good and Tachira is already my closest followed CT stage-race in years due to the awesome reports.

Also loving the tense fight and former guys Salinas and Potocki doing very well.

Fingers crossed for a crazy ITT finish from Mr. Salinas

Not susper satisfied to lose some points to a fellow PCT team, but congrats to Carrefour! Pfft

Two more in the break for us, no chances for tomorrow. Overall we'll score barely any (if any) points from this race, but I still loved the exposure the young guys got. C2 with our roster would always be wasted race days points wise. Just gotta make those up somewhere else.

Nice to be active in the break again, but not a surprise to see Mutsumine unable to make a difference. Still top-8 though, so his first point ever for our team! Possibly his last Pfft

Munoz is not the best time trialist, but he should be able to more or less stay around the same position in GC and U25 tomorrow, scoring some extra minor points. Maybe Beukeboom is able to get a top-8 on the stage, although I wouldn't be surprised to see him finish outside the top-20 after a hard Vuelta al Tachira and him not really being the best climber out there.

Congratulations to Carrefour and McCormick on a great stage, and thanks for the report lief!

Did not expect this much from Reguigui! Pity he lost a big chunk on the final mountain stage but 7th is still respectable. Doubt there will be much movement in the TT.

Superb reporting and great presentation. Thanks lief

Didn't think that the yellow jersey bonus would just completely vanish from one day to the next. So now it's Potocki's to lose then. Or anyone's to win?

Really strange to see the leader crack so early (and hard) two days in a row. It brings everyone closer together, but it sure ain't good for the involved managers' nerves Pfft
Definitely hoping for more consistent results in upcoming mountain races.

Nonetheless, congrats to Carrefour for the stage win, and thanks to lief for another amazing report Grin
As MacC pointed out, the situation is really, really interesting before the closing ITT - basically anyone in the Top 5 could still win this. I'd bet on Martin or Campero, as I don't think Salinas/Amador can gain a minute on them - but I'm ready to be surprised Smile

I would hope to hold off Potocki but doubt we will hold off the rest of them, have to rely on the the magic of the leader's jersey. Still another great day today, pity the break stayed out to keep Sepp's rampage from total glory. For Kuss the 1'40 lost on Stage 7 is costly but then everyone of these guys had at least one off day.

Brandon looked to be fading but showed great fighting spirit and now the White Jersey looks secure, which is an over performance. So no matter what happens tomorrow I think the race is a good one for us.

Good luck to all and thanks for the reports.

This goes beyond the pale. The AI treated Amador like some poor, sad chump the entire race and added its final blow on the stage when he lost the 5th GC place. I am really pissed off right now. Sad

Definite sympathies to Darkwolf both Brenes and Amador underperforming throughout.

For us solid TTs from McNulty and Kuss finish off probably the best race in our history that didn't involve Dan Holloway. 2 stage wins, a 2nd and a 4th, 3rd and 9th on GC and 1st and 6th in the young rider and a couple of days in the leader's jersey.

Before the season I would have been thrilled with 3rd here, given the field it was probably a reasonable outcome just not the riders I thought he would be behind.

Thanks Lief for the reports, very much enjoyed the different style, hope you will be taking on more in the future.

Rough race for Amador, Brenes and team. Can’t really make the argument that his res is a problem when you have a rider like Campero winning the whole thing with no real hill or tt abilities. Congrats to Sauber of course, but PCM20 is pumping out some super strange results. Plenty of races left to form a proper judgment, but it doesn’t look good.

My motivation took a tumble for the worse here. The only good thing is that I'll have a break until Catalunya (cobble races are small vacations for my team) and time enough to take a step back and let things cool off.

But this post is not meant to be about me...

Thank you very much, lief, for the covering of the race! It was awesome and fun, except for the result obviously, but then again it's not about me and that's no fault of the reports.
Congratulations to all the managers who did well here! Especially to sammyt for his Campero GC win!

Thank you for amazing reports mr.LWarrior!

We can look back at this race with a positive outlook.
2 stage wins, 4th in the GC and the points jersey. Happy Happy. Although i thought the TT ability of Salinas would get us a 3rd... Oh well, on to the next. And i feel for you DarkWolf, PCM giveths and takeths away!

Great race, great reporting.

@DarkWolf keep the head up there's a long way to go. I think maybe the opening presentation made this look like a slam dunk for you, I'm not sure it was ever that clear cut!

Thank you all for the encouragement, it is much appreciated.

This time it takketh a lot, so I hope it compensates soon. Smile

Sorry about that. I am certain I'll get over it eventually. Smile

I was encouraged by that, but I didn't consider the race to be in my pocket. However, with 2 riders among the favorites and none of them being in close contention or getting near a stage win it is frustrating. And at this particular moment it seems to me that the task of building a team based on stats is made futile. With such results any strategy is similar to the roll of a die. I may be entirely subjective, but that's how I feel right now. Let's see if I change my opinion in the future and manage to handle it better Smile

Beukeboom with an amazing result, definitely the highlight of our race! We leave the Vuelta al Tachira with very few points, but I guess we knew this would be the case even before stage one. Some teams scoring 'big' in C2, other teams like mine close to 0-pointers. Congratulations to Sauber and other teams doing well, and thanks for the great coverage, liefwarrior!

@DW: In his first race in C2, Baugnies finished eleventh last year, behind a lot of weaker cobblers in a race that should actually really suit him. He then had an also not too good Gent-Wevelgem, finishing sixth. After that he won almost every race or finished on the podium, and he had 2 fifth places in HC. Long story short, still enough chances to score for Amador and I'm sure he'll catch some of them Smile
