A stage win, leading the KOM jersey and currently sat 2nd on GC, this is crazy good compared to my expectations for my only C2 race of the season, I was just hoping for a top 10 preseason and a top 5 once I saw the startlist.

Dan Martin doing OK to crack into top 10, looks to be on course to challenge top 5. Tomorrow looks like his best chance

Still no breakaway wins at all throughout all divisions, right?

Don't quite get the AI here... Salinas 80" ahead of the rest? Sounds great for the manager, sure, but it's definitely... surprising.
Especially Amador underperforming that much isn't cool. To be fair, I never really liked him due to his low Res, which could definitely be a factor on long climbs. But still, he *should* dominate those stages.
Also, I don't like to still see those mountain promenades with a little bit of action only on the final meters. Too bad tomorrow's stage doesn't end with a MTF, else it would have been great for some more action with one climb after the other...
Congrats to Gjensidige on an amazing race until now; also Sauber with Campero doing really well given that PCT teams can only send "weak" riders to those races... But I still hope Amador will have at least one good stage and move up to the podium spots!
Thanks for a couple more amazing reports, lief!

So, Andrei Amador seems to not be in form for this race. But to add insult to the injury, Brenes, on a stage that suits him quite well, finishes on 64, 4' behind the stage winner? Come on AI, give me a break! In our first 2 races so far you treated my top riders poorly.
Excellent stage for Herrada! Perhaps if we let him attack just a little bit earlier he could have won the stage. He pulls his weight and than something more.
Thank you again for the report! It was a delight as always. |

Good to see some gaps finally forming there - not quite the fairy tale for Salinas all the way to the end. Strange to see Amador's results though.
Nice to see strong performances from former riders Reguigui and Kuss, plus the loaned out Girdlestone playing his part well.
PCT teams going strong, despite their roster constraints, suggests some CT teams could have missed a trick not coming here!
Definitely an interesting reporting style lief - and pretty much the opposite of my style of screenshots over text!

Exciting stuff. Very happy for Dan Martin, let's see if he can hold on to the podium.
Well done McCormick, stage wins, near the top in the KOM and Team Standings and 2 in top 10.

Potocki is have a blinder of a race here, went in expecting it to be Diaz captaining the team but it seems like the game chose Potocki and is working around it just fine.

Oof. 5 guys in the breakaway, but Olesen is gone quickly. Doesn't even make the first selection. I guess if it doesn't affect our points tally from this race then it doesn't really matter. Still a lot of Carlsberg jerseys in front of the cameras, and a lot of young guys testing their legs. So all good.
Congrats to Ulrich on the victory! First of many for McNulty, and a very memorable way to do it.
Thank you for the report Liefwarrior! You write really well, and the descriptions are great, very vivid. I think adding a few more screenshots in between the descriptions, especially during the latter parts of the stage, could be helpful though.

Munoz finally doing something decent. A shame he couldn't win the same stage as Petrovski did for us last year, but a sixth place means we won't leave this race with 0 points. McNulty a very nice winner, congratulations to McCormick!
Hopefully Munoz can join the break again tomorrow and maybe score some more points, although I don't know how much are on offer except for the final mountain. I fear his lower hill stat also doesn't help him so far. Would be nice if he hold on to a top-5 in KoM and U25 for some (minor) extra points Was fun to see six of my team in the break, I guess they heard the rumours of receiving a pay cut.
Thanks for another report, lief

Congratulations Ullrich on the stage win! It was nice to see McNulty winning from the breakaway.
Although I'm quite frustrated with the outcomes of the race the excellent reports offer some compensation. Thanks again, lief! |

Didn't think that the yellow jersey bonus would just completely vanish from one day to the next. So now it's Potocki's to lose then. Or anyone's to win?
I don't really like those rather random (in my eyes) results to be honest. And I especially dislike how the game treats Amador. A pretty solid 80 climber losing minutes to 77 climbers on a daily basis is not what I'd expect. But well, maybe tomorrow is his big day and he destroys the entire competition - wouldn't even be that much surprised
Thanks for another thrilling report, lief, and huge congrats on a great early-career win for McNulty to Ulrich! The investment is starting to pay off

Well wow.
Numerous landmarks for McCormick, McNulty's first win, our first mountain win and our first win from a break. Outstanding ride from Revard as our young guys worked the break. Hopefully a sign of things to come when all my climbers max out. Think McNulty will suffer tomorrow but I will take the stage win.
While McNulty was the highlight that was much better from Kuss. 5th on the GC is really not great for him in this field, but respectable. Salinas suffered badly today so it seems like tomorrow could change things again. Unfortunately stage 9 looks more like 7 which isn't great if Kuss performs the same.
Sympathies to Darkwolf but Amador could still win if Stage 9 is another shake up and he rides a good TT. While he has +2 Mt he is -7 Res vs Kuss, So not sure the results are that off in the mountains. Although both are being beaten by weaker guys at the moment. Brenes the bigger outlier for me. The AI likes an early attack which does come with a high risk/reward.
Finally, it looks to me like the variation from stage to stage is greater in PCM 20, but it may be, like in the sprints, that the final GC is reasonable. It does add a little more excitement when your result could be a huge day or a total disaster.

I know I'm venting here and I am perfectly aware of Amador's 68 RES. I didn't expect to win every single stage or take the yellow jersey with a walk in the park, but seeing Amador losing time every single climbing stage is maddening. The same goes for Brenes who has 78 RES and yet he's losing time in a disturbing rhythm. I guess he is working for Amador, but is he doing it like there's no tomorrow?
In the end this race it is as it is and there's nothing more I can do about it. I'm being frustrated a lot, but I do hope for a top 3 or at least top 5 finish. And then I'll concentrate my attention and my tempered expectations to the next races of the season. |

Stage 4 comes back to haunt us. Our passivity there has cost us 1'07 to Kuss, Martin and Salinas which would have put Amador in a great position ahead of the last stage. But that is all the magic of hindsight and it's pointless to regret something we cannot change. The only thing remaining for the team is to concentrate its efforts for one last attempt for another stage win and achieving the best GC position possible.
I'm looking forward to the final stage and I'm already missing your reports, lief! |

| GAP | TT | KUSS | 0 | 64 | MARTIN | 23 | 69 | CAMPERO | 31 | 69 | SALINAS | 1'17 | 71 | AMADOR | 1'23 | 74 | POTOCKI | 1'42 | 70 |
Couldn't be set up nicer!
Taking the top 5 there is a lovely symmetry of the worse the TT skill the bigger the starting cushion.
If Martin can hold on to top 3 I'd be happy.
Also, if my TT duo of Downey or Oram were to take a stage all the better!
