After a long and surprisingly hard transfer window it is now time to present the team that will lead a promotion or even title challenge in CT this year! With the initial plan involving selling Kump and putting together a more youthful roster falling apart due to no interest in the former world champion we had to put together a different plan. And that we did!
Despite hills having been at the center of the team’s identity for plenty years we decided to avoid picking up leaders in that terrain this year due to the strengthening of the division in that regard. We will obviously be present at some of these races by the nature of our calendar but with no clear leader we’re looking for something special from our riders to make a difference this year. An area that we have decided to focus however is stage races and other mountain heavy races, which is the area that has seen the biggest improvement from us this year.
Climbers and Stage Racers
After dropping Grmay and Faiers in renewals we stuck with Diaz to lead our team for one more season before decline, he will be the team’s premier stage racer. He is flanked by Elissonde who joins us in free agency on a wage of 100k, the Frenchman was already a target of ours last year where he ended up joining Indosat Oredoo for 260k, but now he’s ready to be the team’s premier climber in races that don’t feature ITTs. The second new addition to our roster in the stage race department is Pavel Potocki, the Croatian stage racer joins us from GCN via Evonik Elko in a double deal with former teammate Scott Thwaites and is expected to do a solid job in stage races this year where the aim is a solid amount of GC top 10s. The last two additions to our roster this year in the climbing department are Enrico Battaglin, who joins us from the draft after having raced with Sotto il sole di Riccio last year, and Giles Heymes who joins from free agency after being let go from EA Vesuvio. Especially Heymes is an interesting rider who will add a lot of strong support for Diaz and Potocki in important stage races this year. De Vos and Gaspar have been retained will most likely also act as our hills squad for most of the season.
Cobbles have always been at the forefront of our identity, with GVK not getting any younger we were in the market for a younger leader, but it didn’t happen this year. We have however strengthened quite a bit with additions of Salvatore Puccio, who joins us from now defunct Air France, Thwaites who was involved in the deal mentioned previously with Potocki. Add in Kumara and Riesebeek and we have a very solid roster for the cobbled classics this year.
This is the big one, sprinting is always a bit random but we believe that Kump is going to be a menace this year in the CT, with us picking up a leadout in Redecker from the draft we believe that Kump should be set in most races this year. The other pairing that is interesting to mention is Mamyr Stash, who will be leading in races with a prologue where we hope to see him score a few points on his 50k wage and late FA pickup Michael Vingerling who is seen as the sprinter that will have leadership roles in races where Kump is not going.
Finally, we have 3 talents in on loan this season, who will all gain valuable experience riding for us, and in the case of Walls potentially even adding to our early sprint set up.

A rough renewals season for us after relegation sees us say goodbye to a multitude of riders.
A couple of riders fells short of what is going to be needed going forward as we aim to conquer the CT this year. Tom Diggle has been a major part of our hills squad for years now, but after his decline there is sadly no value in holding on to him this season. Another British rider in Thomas Faiers also leaves us after another decline, Faiers was an integral part of our promotion push last time around in CT but sadly you can't outrun old age. Furthermore, the doms in Durasek and Smukulis leaves after declining both have been integral to our team and Smukulis has been part of our roster since our first season in the MG. Lastly Van Poppel finds himself without a team, but fell short of being renewed due to budget concerns.
The next segment of riders hurts to let go, especially Boivin who has been a key part of our team for years at this point, but sadly we could not find an agreement that made sense to both parties, he will now go and explore free agency. Same can be said for Dyrnes and Grmay that was signed last year. Again due to financial concerns we couldn't find a deal that worked for all parties, and how they're going to explore free agency. Duchesne & Villella will also be exploring greener pastures.
Lastly Piccolli, Hughes, Bellan & Medvedev have also left the team due to a restructuring and rebuild going into the CT.
Now to the fun part. We have managed to renew a solid core of CT level riders that will hopefully allow us to push towards promotion.
Last Name | First Name | Lvl | XP | Age | Pot | | Wage | Difference | Availability | Kump | Marko | 4 | 100 | 33 | 6 | € 420.000 | 305000 | -€ 115.000 | Yes | Van Keirsbulck | Guillaume | 4 | 100 | 30 | 6 | € 125.000 | 100000 | -€ 25.000 | No | Diaz | Daniel Ricardo | 4 | 100 | 32 | 5 | € 125.000 | 75000 | -€ 50.000 | No | Gaspar | Joao | 4 | 100 | 29 | 5 | € 60.000 | 50000 | -€ 10.000 | No | De Vos | Adam | 4 | 100 | 28 | 4 | € 60.000 | 50000 | -€ 10.000 | No | Chen | Mingrun | 2 | 49 | 25 | 4 | 50000 | 50000 | € 0 | Yes | Kumara | Amith Udaya | 4 | 100 | 26 | 5 | € 60.000 | 50000 | -€ 10.000 | No | Beullens | Cedric | 2 | 81 | 24 | 4 | 50000 | 50000 | € 0 | Yes | Stash | Mamyr | 4 | 100 | 28 | 5 | 50000 | 50000 | € 0 | Maybe |
GVK and Diaz have been renewed with CT captancy in mind whereas Kump has been renewed with a sale in mind. Especially Diaz' wage reduction is something that we're incredibly happy with. Stash returns from a PT loan at King Power last year and with 78 PRL we hope that he can pull of some good stage results this year on prologues. Our support core in Kumara, De Vos and Gaspar haev all comitted to 50k wages this year which is incredible for us as they are fantastic options for us. Chen & Beullens are going to continue their development this year and will be some of our top helpers in couple of seasons.

A lot of changes to be made I see...
Mingrun Chen is a decent looking talent for the future. I can't really read out of the text whether he's available for a trade or not - but the list say that he is - If so I might be interested if things add up

Most definitely is for sale, should he be of interest to some teams, main prio is shipping Kump tho, hence the wording.

Yeah absolutely a pretty challenging rebuild compared to when we went down last time and still had Boivin ready etc. Looking forward to fully reshape the team and hopefully lay ground to a roster that can survive in PCT in the following season.
Feel free to reach out once appropaite I suppose

I see greedy bastard #2 (Vingerling) picks another cheap ride after his outrageous demands in the renewals. Looks like a GCN reunion with 3 ex-riders and 1 on loan with you.
Thanks for helping with the Walls development

Let me be the first to congratulate you on that CT title. This is by far the best CT team I have ever seen. Some would say hills are a weakness, but to them I say: Kump Kump Kump!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

You won't have the division's top climber, nor the division's top cobbler, but: what a depth you have in those departments! Even Kraftwerk could be jealous
Elissonde is definitely cool at this wage, and Thwaites should be a huge threat in most cobbled CT races!
And as Ollfardh wrote, Kump should do great in the hills as well, as there aren't many really tough hilly races in CT (at least not as many as Moscon would have liked to last year )

Yeah. If Kump can thrive in the dual role of sprint and hill leader then you should have more than enough to bounce back

Really looking forward to see your team in action. I think you did extremely well to target riders who are on lower wages than you might expect to build fantastic depth around Kump.
Also you killed the draft |

No worries on Walls, most definitely a mutually beneficial relationship. And yeah quite a bit of GCN history in my team, but that's generally speaking a good thing in CT

Thank you! I don't think that the CT title is a given since there are quite a few riders with the likes of Amador, Vanspeybrouck. etc. that will hamper our top scoring perspectives quite a bit but hopefully we do end the season with a title, planning however haven't been my strong suite in previous years tho
I think that with the state of CT hills this season, Kump is proably being used in a bit of different manor but he will obviously be a good shout for dual leadership.

Super pleased with Elissonde and I think him at a 100k wage is what really pulls this team together, I wouldn't have been able to pick up Riesebeek if not for having signed Elissonde etc, because I would have had to go look for a different scoring option. Thwaites is one of those riderst that I am super pleased that I get to utilize because he really does add a lot of different possibilites in specific cobble races etc.

I think I would be really disappointed to not repromote more or less regardless of how much Kump scores, top 3 is most definitely within reach, and would be a dissapointment to miss out on.

Likewise, I think your team is one of the most interesting CT teams this year, and you should most definitely also be looking at promotion, looking forward to our battles as well!

Thanks, a bit of work with the 1-3s but a bad PCT season and a declining leader does wonders for your wage demands! But I most definitely had to check my file over a couple of times to ensure that I didn't mess something up!
Appreciate it!

Ye for sure. The fewer teams having money to spend has most certainly helped me in that regard, doubt that this would have been possible with 22 PT teams, as we saw with Elissonde going for 260k last year!
I think that my great draft comes at a loss of some future proofing in having to fire Beullens to pull in Vingerling from FA to then set up for Battaglin and Redecker. Especially the former I thought was going to be gone by the time it got my spot in the draft, being that far down.
