CT20 - Los Pollos Hermanos
Nemolito
@bbl and Ollfardh: Sorry for the drama, couldn't resist.

In other news, Los Pollos Hermanos has found a new sponsor for the 2021 season! As has been said before, the Mexican-American fast food chain will remain our main sponsor. The focus on Latin American talents will not shift (entirely), in an ideal world we'll have at least 50% of homegrown and developed riders someday.

Nevertheless, we like cobbles. There is a good chance of cobbles not being our main department next year though, but we still love them. As everybody knows, whenever you say cobbles, you think about Flanders. Therefore, we have been looking for a Belgian co-sponsor during the last weeks. We are glad to be able to announce that we have found a secondary sponsor, but because of contract reasons we can not tell who and from where the new sponsor is yet.

We are free to give a hint though. So here it is. A hint to who will be our new secondary sponsor.

I definitely understand the process of thought, but it is not bpost Pfft

Nor is it any other ex-sponsor in the MG Smile

Baugnies had a great end to the season. Too bad the sprinters and Sterbini couldn't do the same, but great to hear Los Pollos is staying on and the cobble focus is still a target. Should be part of your DNA now Pfft

Yeah, the chicken are continuing Smile I guess you still have good chances to promote to PCT, given the number of (potential) disbands...
I tried to find out what that hint could mean, but really no clue... will be interesting to find out Smile

Btw, I hope you find a spot on your team management for Marco "The Legend" Guillén Pfft

Nemolito
@Fab and red: If we promote, that's clearly mostly thanks to Baugnies and an overperforming Guillén. And if nobody takes Guillén in their team, he'll definitely get a spot in our team management!

A second and last hint to who will be our new secondary sponsor, as the 'big reveal' will come soon.

OK, I guess the two animal pics are a rather clear hint at Galapagos - and given you'd like to expand to Belgium, I could imagine Belgian biotech company Galapagos becoming your new co-sponsor.

Nemolito, you said, that your team is in the next season 5th. You have to be very active in the transfer market. Maybe a new sponsor will help.Pfft

Talents!
We are still legally unable to tell us anything more about our sponsor, but nothing doesn't allow us to have a quick look at how our talents evolved throughout the season and how strong (or not) they will be next season.

Robinson Steven Ruiz 1.00 --> 3.19 1998 Pot. 4
Our little Robinson Crusoe, the successor of Alain Quispe, the effin new Peruvian champion! He should reach a nice 79 flat stat, which hopefully means something for the team one day. Singlehandedly fighting sprinter stat inflation by going for Fighter stat gain.

Fair to say he's not the most amazing rider, that's probably why we were able to get him for free. Still managed to become the Peruvian TT champion though, so stop hatin cuz you ain'tin. Would not sign again, do not recommend, but will probably continue on our team as part of the three Peruvian musketeers. Andre got a mix of the climberv1 and hills training.

Jose Gerardo Ulloa 1.00 --> 3.12 1996 Pot. 4
My man. Was in many attacks, including in the HC races. Too old for Avenir, so we won't be able to get him to lvl 4 in CT, so he is one of the reasons we'd love to promote. Just went to Tokyo and finished 23rd in the MTB race, at least he knew the plank was gone. Hope he becomes MG's Mexican champion one day. We'll never forget Abhishek's betrayal by voting for hills instead of cobbles this season. We will forgive though, because that's the kind of team we are. Went for two times the cobbles statgain.

First out of two Colombian talents is Osorio. Thanks to his nice potential he should become a decent domestique. Stage racer all the way.

Another Colombian, who spent the season at cycleYorkshire. Another reason why we'd love to promote, as then we could bring him to 4.100 ourselves. Decided to not care about his time trial by going for climberv1.

It's great to see an all regional development of talents Grin

Ulloa and Osorio look like the picks of the bunch. Hopefully everyone can continue their development without missing a step regardless of which division you are in Smile

Like the looks of a few of those talents. They should be more than useful or even better when maxed!

@redordead: Even though they might not all be the best of the best, I'm also glad I have stuck to an all regional development Smile Hopefully I can add a Belgian to that as well next season.

@Abhishek: No hard feelings Pfft

A small update for the fans as well now, as all national championships have been raced. Los Pollos Hermanos added some national champions to their list, as several rider won their race. Many of the riders just had to exist though, as they were the only professional cyclist in their country. These riders are the Guatemalan Quicibal, the almighty Lesothian Seboka, the North Macedonian Petrovski and the Paraguayan Coronel.

We are the only team with Peruvian riders, so they had a cobbled free for all in a mixed championship. Ruiz proved to be the emperor of Peru by being the best out of the three, which is a great end to his first pro season. Gonzales was then crowned the prince of Peru, as he was the best time trialist out of the three. Poor Quispe will no longer ride in a Peruvian NC jersey next year.

Manarelli sprinted well in his championship and delivered us the Brazilian NC, which made clothing sponsor Kirschner very happy. Bru did not make his former manager Marco a happy man, as he won the hilly Cuban championship. No worries though, 500k and he's yours.

It remains to be seen whether all national champions will be renewed, although the answer seems to be...

Spoiler
No, Bru is trash.

I'm pretty sure you will promote, but obviously not going to jinx it. I haven't done the count and I'm bad at math anyway. Pfft

Like the climber v1 choice for Munoz. His TT was already low enough that I think trying to accentuate it and lose hill might have made him struggle to be viable anywhere, as the low hill would hurt him more than the TT gains in terms of point/usefulness. As is, he will be a great climber and clear CT leader and secondary guy/superdomestique in PCT, where you will probably be. Not needing a loan next year for him is terrific planning.

Congrats on all your NC's as well, very nice crop of jerseys!

Since the beginning of the season, we have been around the fifth position. As the main cobbles period was over around April, we started to lose places. Nevertheless, the team did enough to remain in a very nice seventh place, which is honestly more than expected. In a very thrilling finale, Carrefour took the title ahead of Carlsberg and Philiips. Other teams that have secured promotion are Centovalli, Tryg and Project: Africa. Some nice teams with a great project (no pun intended). Our seventh place secured promotion as well, and I can see at least the two teams below us also promoting.

Even though only 70% of his race days could be filled with cobbled races, Baugnies still managed to score a great 542 points! His best performances was the GC win in the Tour du Faso, winning sponsor goal Dunkerque and some other C2 races as well as two top-5's in the HC. He was not our only rider scoring decently, as seen below as well.

Marquez wasn't able to win anything and didn't always impress us as a stage racer, but 230 points are far from terrible. Guillén had another incredible season and almost managed to score 200 points in what could have been his last professional season. Manarelli as our fourth best scorer even though he had to be a domestique for the Costa Rican is also nice. The Brazilian championship was a nice end of the season for the man who won Los Pollos' first race ever.

Sterbini also disappointed slightly, but his 82 points were definitely important. Quispe and Seboka, also known as the laughing stock of the CT peloton, scored 100 points together. The mission to bring Quispe's flat stat to 81 will hopefully be completed next season, whereas Seboka is probably looking to join an African team. Macedonian champion Petrovski with 45 points, which is okay as well.

Then the guys with some fewer points. Free agent Coronel guided Baugnies to success and scored 19 points along the way, whereas flat beast Quicibal scored 16 points, most of them in our home race Circulo de Juarez. Cuban champion Bru scored six points, whereas the Peruvian champs Ruiz and Gonzales scored six and five respectively as well. Future Mexican cobble star (not really but whatever) Ulloa with four points, just as loanee Hayter. Osorio also scored a cheeky point, which means all our riders (except the stagiaires) have scored at least one point!

That's it for now, next post should be sponsor/jersey news. See you then.

Congrats on a great debut season! You digged deep to bring in Baugnies, but that guy really was worth it!
Also amazing to see Guillén score almost 200 points, definitely didn't expect him to still be so competitive. Nice one!

Looking forward to meeting you again next year - one level higher Smile
