Another important race down the drain, Vanmarcke abandoning. Can we get any luck this season?

How are sprinters with less than 75 cobbles making that final selection? It's not like the race was just that unselective, it was a pretty small group there at the end, and plenty of stronger riders were left behind. Coquard was there, but Senechal was dropped.
I knew Lavery wouldn't have the strength to be near the front of the action, but he should probably be better than 36th, which is actually his best result so far.
Thanks for the video.
I have no idea but Greipel also ended up winning Ronde once so it has happened. In general, racing in Ronde is much more competitive and can end up between 2-6 riders. Just an odd variant this one imho

I know somebody who'll be very happy with these results! I also know somebody who'll be very unhappy with the Ster ZLM Tour!
Yeah, not the best variant of the Ronde. In any case, not very smart racing from my men. It was fun to see Dibben attack but I would have expected Sagan to be smarter. Well, had it been a harder variant his attack might have been a decent idea.
Cav very inconsistent in the Ster ZLM Tour, but great that he won a stage! Plus excellent depth scoring this time, a great result for our young riders Wagner and Diederich.

Me sending Komisarek to Ronde and ZLM hoping to get any points out of those races:
Me after seeing those results:
I mean how in the f'k did that happen?! Could it actually be? My first rider to be actually proud of? My own... creation?!
Way to go! 4th in MSR, 1st in Ronde, GC win in ZLM. Komisarek looking good this season. My investment might actually be worth it, lol |

Puccio was unexpectedly good in De Ronde with 11th, a shame he just about missed out on the final selection. He again was also our only hope at the ZLM Tour with an okayish 20th place, unfortunately joining breaks is not something that we want to do seemingly.
Congrats dominox on these 2 races and thanks for the results Shonak.

Aw man, looks like Julian Runge had a really bad time on stage 5 in SA, I assume crash-related.
That's all U25 chances down the drain, but at least Auer kept up in stages 4 and 5 and delivered a pretty good TT to take points there and climb up to 5th in the GC now.
With two mountain stages to follow though, that's where the real gaps will occur.
And yeah, I don't feel like ending the Ronde on 2x 3* cobbles is the best idea.

damn Phinney was so good, always well positioned, and that acceleration in the final kms could also go with better epilogue. unfortunately chasing riders were ready to cooperate...3rd in a monument is anyway a huge result, this time with some riders scoring points behind top spots. not bad!
(yeah, wide roads looked quite out of place)
Engeldinger doing well in SA, stage win and 2nd in GC, let's try to attack the leadership in uphill finishes, but it will be hard to drop Eijssen.

Komisarek on fire, congrats Dominox!
Very happy with 6th & 10th in De Ronde, nearly chose this as a goal race.
Surprised with great results from ZLM tour, Pedersen with a stage win, 3rd in GC & 1st U25.
There is a problem with the Team calculations at the ZLM Tour as Suntory clearly won this but we are in 4th? Here are my calculations for the top 3 riders.

Well that (ZLM Tour) was a disaster of the first order, I can only assume Kittel crashed on stage 1 because he appears to have been totally non-competitive. Total failure on a goal race doesn't looks so good either, at least there are five of them this year to dilute the impact.
Hnik 2nd from the break in the last stage is a tiny compensation - although an actual win would be nice.
The eggs in two baskets strategy isn't looking so good right now. Hopefully Nairo knows how to stay on his bike.
At least former rider Ejissen is kicking butt in South Africa.

I was getting used to having my expectations surpassed. Time to come crashing down to earth, in South Africa there is nothing to write home about. I only held my hopes high for Jonathan Soler, being the youngest member of the team and seeing him position just behind our 2 experienced riders among our line-up. My hopes are that he would gather experience this season and develop in the future in the rider I dream he would be. |

@Marco: Honestly sorry to hear it, you've really had some terrible luck this season.
@Ulrich: Also ouch, and it was a goal race.
@D2B: I think you are counting bonus seconds, those don't apply to the teams classification.

Go home Flandres, you're drunk. Also Solihull doing well on that first ZLM stage, after that drowning in the periphery but still finishing 4th GC. |

Yes was a big crash on one of the early stages, think it included Kittel and Demare and anyone being dropped.

@D2B are those times taken just from final GC? you need to calculate first 3 riders from every stage and then take into consideration the 5 stages gaps together, and yeah on GC maybe bonus seconds change the real gap

Thanks Ripley, yes I am counting bonus seconds, didn't appreciate the teams competition didn't derive from the GC finishing times

Good stuff in RVV and Ster ZLM. A bit of a lift that the team neede. Plus was scared whether it was a waste sending both Dege and Yates to RVV but it paid off.

@D2B: I was still impressed by your table. But PCM is correct here, bonus seconds only count for individual rankings. Plus as df_Trek said, it's the best three riders per stage. All four teams always had 3 riders in the top group. And by the positions of the 3 riders per stage Baku does win and Suntory is last (you once had your third guy outside the top 60).
@Abhishek: You certainly picked a good route for Yates.

Well someone must've had the same idea before me I only pick from what's available.
