Closing the year 2020 (and kinda kicking off 2021) 21 and Done came up with Rounds 12 and 13 of the drafting game of young talents. Since being founded in 2018 that means we have a number of 162 riders drafted already. Some of them are GT winners now (like redordeads pick 10 in the first draft, Tadej Pogacar), others have faced deep tragedy.

This time we had a double draft, with df_trek picking up new WT rider Kevin Colleoni. He'll be one of plenty new signings on WT level this draft. 4 Belgians were picked in the first round, 3 of them concerning Lotto-Soudal. Van Gils (picked by Freitas) moves up from the Dev to Main Team, Vervloesem (picked by Abhi) joins the main team after his time at Sunweb Devo, and Vandenabeele takes the other way, going from Lotto u23 to the new Team DSM. Cian Uijtdebroeks (take that name to google translate!) takes a different path, his 2022 contract with Bora and the incredible belgian media hype made Croatia14 pick him.
The surefire great sigining however came from redordead, who picked Ganna-lite-version Jonathan Milan, a very successful track-TT guy. Vacek joins valverde's team as the junior european champion moving up to Gazprom-Rusvelo. Wandahl for Shonak makes it another Bora-rider drafted. And finally we have jandal taking Fisher-Black and Strong, two kiwi heroes that are both highly ranked in the Jumbo and Deceuninck feeder teams.
Other 2nd round picks include former triathlet Javier Romo and two danish super-talents in DSMs Andersen and Coloquicks Levy. Schmid (Qhubeka) and Jones (Israel) are two more WT pick-ups, Chevalier (B&B Hotels), Bayer (Alpecin), Stojnic (Vini Zabu) and Umba (Androni) join the ranks in the PCT. All in all some big pro-riders influx, let's see who can make his professional presence stick and become a force to be the next Bernal, Pogacar or Evenepoel! |
