Five days after the end of the Barbados Cycling Festival, many of the same sprinters are now lining up in Chihuahua County in Mexico for Circulo de Juarez.
The race starts in Ciudad Juarez, with a counter-clockwise route around the region, before returning to Ciudad Juarez for the Stage 4 finish, and the Stage 5 finale.
This is a race that has been a C2 mainstay for 6 years, so many of the teams present will have raced here before. But this year we see it as a C1 race, and undoubtedly the strength of the field is now the strongest we have seen it.
Six of the Top 10 from Barbados are here - Boeckmans, Swift, Gaviria and Avelino being the four who are not.

Comparing pure sprint speed to results, this is an immediate chance for Lo Cicero, Ewan and Guerao to rectify their Barbados disappointment. Vesely, Manninen and Guarnieri will hope their form continues though!
Coming in to provide a new challenge, Swisslion have subbed Boeckmans for Saber. Adastra race this time, and they bring Kristoff; while Mapei have arrived with Zabel and Guardini; and GCN have got Itami.
Lierse swithed Gaviria for Bonifazio. And while Podium Ambition continue to lead with Ewan, they now also have Nelson - who won two stages and the overall for them, back in 2016.
Taking to HC worked out well enough for Centovalli and Reinhardt again in Barbados. Together with Guillen from Los Pollos, they lead the CT presence in this field. Can they manage to get involved in the sprinting action though, given the quantity of sprinters in the field?
For the U25 jersey, it is again quite unlikely that we will see a young rider finishing in the Top 10 at the finish - but if there are splits, some of the fastest of them may be more likely to be in the right place. There are 59 U25 riders here, and if it comes down to breakaway bonus points, then perhaps it will be those best on the flat, or just strongest overall, who could be contenders.
| | Fl | Sp | Ac | Team | Hodeg | Alvaro | 70 | 77 | 76 | Minions | Zariff | Nur Aiman | 66 | 75 | 76 | Bakkafrost | Ovsyannikov | Alexandr | 70 | 75 | 74 | DK - SVA Zalgiris | Grosser | Aaron | 69 | 75 | 74 | Mapei | Minali | Riccardo | 69 | 75 | 75 | Valio - Viking Genetics | Katrasnik | Gasper | 81 | 63 | 72 | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Biermans | Jenthe | 77 | 66 | 67 | Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo PCTeam | Kurianov | Stepan | 75 | 70 | 68 | Swisslion Cycling Team | Kanepejs | Deins | 70 | 62 | 71 | Team Popo4Ever p/b Nemiroff |
While hills are not expected to be decisive, at 77, Kanepejs is the strongest rider on that terrain in the whole race.
Here are some of the other flat beasts present:
| | Fl | Sp | Ac | Team | Quispe | Alain | 80 | 66 | 73 | Los Pollos Hermanos | Mundle | Benedikt | 79 | 59 | 69 | Centovalli - Fiat | Ratto | Daniele | 79 | 75 | 73 | Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team | Veyhe | Torkil | 78 | 56 | 78 | Bakkafrost | Quicibal | Romeo | 78 | 62 | 66 | Los Pollos Hermanos | Canelon | Hersony | 77 | 78 | 83 | Adastra N Hell Energy Cycling | Baugnies | Jerome | 77 | 64 | 72 | Los Pollos Hermanos | Aaltio | Risto | 77 | 61 | 61 | Valio - Viking Genetics |
We are in Mexico, and there are two local riders here. This race went fairly well for Vaquera last year, with stage finishes of 4th, 6th, 8th, 9th and 10th contributing to 12th in GC. It will be quite an achievement to replicate that this year though.

Redemption for Guerao. However, Ovsya is here, the 10 Million Man himself. At least 1 stage win for him EASY

Welp, that's going to be a tough task for Selig to score here. If he even leads, or maybe the game decides to have Habtom be our man. Or, what I fear is most likely, neither of them is going to make the cut of the ~15 or so sprinters that will compete. I guess we'll see. And maybe one of our young guys can get into the break to collect some bonus seconds and a point or two from the young riders classification. Thanks for the preview!

Hoping Vesely can continue the form from Barbados, having something to look forward to in flat races like this now!

Time for Bonifazio to show why he was chosen over Van Asbroeck.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Here's to hoping that those mild bumps in the last 50k of 4 of the stages can cause some drama, and breakaway chances, cause that is about all we got.

Ouch, that startlist looks even a whole lot worse than Barbados... It looks like it could be more difficult to take good points from C1 than from HC, which of course I don't really like.
Nonetheless, Reinhardt has done very well against strong competition so far, why not here? The support is as good as always, but I'm hoping his teammates will actually do something here. Sending Mäder in the breakaway would obviously be the best possible idea, as he's U25 and has already got some good results from such attempts. Let's see...

The triple threat is back together, was the absence of Ricki the cause of our problems in Barbados? Lets find out as we continue to demonstrate sprinting is a lottery and that we're relegating hard!

Not that I'm the one and only MG guru now, but I really lacked the experience and understanding of the game when I choose this race as a top-10 goal two months ago I'll already be happy with top-10 in one stage, hopefully combined with at least one point. Even though home rider Ulloa won't do much, it's nice to see him mentioned in the preview (and the reason he was sent here was also being a home rider, so thanks for the eye to detail, SN ) Then I also got three "flat beasts", but it's not like Quispe will really do something special here (fingers crossed he proves me wrong of course), and Guillén can hopefully get that one overperformance where we get in that top-10 of the stage. Got some youngsters here as well, but will need a lot of luck to see them gain some seconds if they even get in the break.
Thanks for the preview, let the games begin!

With how deep the startlist is, it's basically a tossup I think. Ewan is the best on paper, but that won't mean much.
Glad I'm not here.

It's now or never for Saber!
I'm hoping for some consistent stage results and a solid GC placing
Thanks for the preview SN

Hoping for a good race from my sprinters here, risky to send them both, but had race days for them left

Targeting a top 3 here, as in Barbados. Hopefully we can fix the lead-out issues if we get a train, which I suspect we might on an occasion or two since Swift isn't here.
Thanks for the preview

Jesus, we're on track to record one of the most cursed seasons in game history! We're not even getting f*cked by a version change, we're just getting raw f*cked

As soon as I saw us building a train I thought it could go wrong. Fifth is still a decent result, and Hodeg ninth is a nice bonus. Cruising on other trains is allowed next stage though!

Quicibal in the break and doing well in the intermediate sprints, too bad he's one year too old for the U25 and didn't care about the KoM. Guillén tried, and 27th is better than 28th I guess I do feel bad for Podium Ambition though, as it seems Ewan really doesn't care (except when the race he's in is a monument where he can't score points).
Congratz to Heine and thanks for the first report SN

Well, try again tomorrow I guess. At this point I think Bonifazio attacking would actually be the best option.
