Vuelta al Tachira Discussion

5 riders in the favorites before the stage, and everyone gets dropped... really painful stage for us especially as we intentionally sent quevedo and Caruso here for that stage specifically.

That said, congrats to Aidan and a big win for Pinot. Probably a sign of more to come unfortunately for us

Pinot was the big favourite before the race and already claimed yellow on this first tougher hilly stage - clearly proving to be the man to beat. Congrats aidan!

Yeah! Chuffed with that. Thanks for the kind words guys! And thanks jph for another great report.

Must say, when I saw Seibeb launch I would’ve been happy to see him win. At the same time I was worried that Seibeb taking the jersey would wreak havoc with PCM AI.

That mountain stat definitely came in handy today with Seibeb being strong, Pinot winning and Reguigui staying up there. We sent a strong team and we showed that today!

So close from Cort Nielsen there! To see him score another stage win in al Tachira would have been very nice, but we'll settle for second. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come, and a strong GC placing is on the cards. Congrats to Aidan, the stronger rider won.

Strong start from Pinot there, in an all-round show of strength from Project: Africa; and very nice to see Kuss taking 4th too.

Congrats Aidan, happy to see you take that win Smile I can't be mad about Hadi and Ndayisenga both in the Top 10. If Ndayisenga stays in the Top 10 until the end, that would be fantastic, and let's see how far Hadi can take this.

It's also still pretty cool to be in the breakaway for the fifth race day in a row now, eventhough nothing comes of it. I'm sure Mresuperstar is satisfied with Lopez's second appearance up front Smile

Very much so, and happy he is providing at least some early race entertainment for you given that you're paying his hefty 100k wage this season.

Nice to get the stage podium and the Youth Jersey in what we see as the warmup stage for teh GC fight, hopefully we can put the challenge to Pinot now and try to overhaul the gap those bonus seconds have given him.

Wow, that was really important that Jaramillo managed to get the same time there.

Paulus unfortunately lost two minutes, but at least we now have a clear leader.

Everybody else in the 2nd group. Not too shabby. We're still in this.

Decent stuff from VdS on stage 3 to get another podium. We were hoping for something better than two 3rd places in the first three stages though. Still, it's not too bad. What is bad is the likes of Henttala and Inkelaar losing time on a flat stage, to add to Storer doing so on both stages 2 and 3.

Stage 4 once again wasn't that great. Good that Keinath stayed with the front group and is now in a good GC position. He was never going to get near a win on that stage anyway. However, Bardet being dropped is a bummer, although not very surprising I guess with the hill influence.

The rest of the race is now all focus on Keinath for us, with the time gaps maybe allowing a couple of our domestiques to try to get into breaks.

Congrats to bbl and aidan on the stage wins in the last two stages and thanks to jph for the reports Smile

What a messy sprint
Congrats to the boys from Riccione, yet another new team claiming their maiden victory Smile And great work once again by Manarelli, he could really have a shot at the points jersey - if the climbers decide to give away some stages to the breakaway.

And thanks to jph for another great report - hoping for even more fun in the mountains now!

That's exactly what I'm hoping for now Smile He seemed really close but just couldn't hold on until the finish line today, congratz krisa Smile Thank you jph as well, very exciting reports so far Smile

Looking forward to the mountains now, although our chances at shining immediately go down by like 99% Pfft

Disappointing that one 10th place is the best Reidecker could do here in 4 attempts, considering the field. Oh well, on to the mountains for Ndayisenga. Congrats to krisa and thanks for the reports so far jph Smile

72 Spr Pasqualon beating 80Spr riders. I don't get it but anyway fantasic result.
All stages top 10 so far is nice as well

Another one that I really don't get. It looked like Bertilsson was in an absolutely perfect position under the red kite. He didn't launch too early or anything, and he has more resistance than most of his competitors. Somehow a leadout from 65 sprint Sulvaran tired him out though, I just don't know how. At least we get a few points this time and we already have the stage win. But getting outscored by quite a few lesser sprinters in this race is certainly not ideal.

Anyway, congrats to Krisa and thanks for another great report. Bring on the mountains!

Maybe the two climbs in the first half of the stage cost too much energy for him? They're pretty long, and depending on how hard the pack pushed, Bertilsson could have suffered a lot with his abysmal climbing "skills". Plus, Pasqualon is slightly better on the hills, which may have made a difference with the short uphill section towards the finish line.
And yeah, being mentioned in the pre-stage favorites can always be helpful with PCM... I guess the very weak sprinter field (which is not that surprising, given that only 16 teams made the trip) definitely favors some really strange results.

But let's hope that the mountains AI works better than the sprint one - there's definitely some work to do on that...

I was hoping this would be good for Redecker or even Hadi. Alas ... Pfft

As always - you can try to explain some things, but in the end PCM has its own mind, which doesn't always seem to by sane Pfft
