Last GT and race of the year! Hopefully we can make it till the end of an already reduced competition, but let's see... aside from the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, the biggest question pertains to Froome's comeback. Will he be able to be competitive? Support Carapaz? Or just fade before the final climbs as he has been since the beginning of August? I guess we'll see tomorrow! |

Can't wait for Roglic to break every mountain record of the 00's this Vuelta |

I would like Pinot or Mas but with my luck it is probably gonna be Froome or Roglic. Dumoulin would be a cool thing to add some spice to 2021

He’s on the string actually but Ineos pushing and Froome struggling just shows he’s not really at his best. Nor do they really believe him. |

If Kuss ends up winning this I demand a “Poll of the Year” award at the Daily awards.
Also Grossschartner wtf not bad, guess we’ll see how well he can hang on the real big MTF. |

Unfortunately I was in class and missed the stage live. Just scoured Youtube looking for vids of the final climb (which is apparently a lot harder than it was 5 years ago).
But oh yeah, I'm super excited. Martin looked better than I've seen him in a long time. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

Sure am, was hoping he could do some breakaways later in the race (and who knows, too early to say this wasn't a one-off) and grab a stage somewhere, but this is even better so far
Just a summary of what happened since his wonderful 2016 to show why I never think he was bad, just going through really really tough conditions:
Spoiler He's had a tough time since his 2017 knee injury combined with the death of his close friend and personal physiotherapist during the Tour, riding a decent Vuelta (podium for a while I think then ended up 12th or something) after, but then fractured his shoulder. He seemed to have a great comeback in the beginning of the Simon Yates Giro 2018 when they ran a 1-2 for the first half of the race and Chaves won on Etna in a stage 1-2 between them. A really emotional moment, see this video where he dedicates the win to his friend. He then collapsed in the second half of the race (later known to be due to Epstein-Barr virus) and missed the rest of the season recovering from that illness
2019 saw another Giro stage win plus a stage podium, and a top 20 in the Vuelta and then he had a pretty good pre-COVID start to this year. He might not be the 2016 Il Lombardia + two GT podiums guy ever again which is a real shame, but after all he's gone through in his career, right back to that hideous injury at Laigueglia 2013 he's one of the most resilient riders out there and I believe he still has the legs and the heart to be a great rider still
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Chavez started 2017 Vuelta and 2018 Giro very strong too, but faded in both for various reasons, so we have to wait till week 3 to see if he is back. But yes, he looked very good yesterday.
