8 positives yesterday.
Kruij, who has left the Giro, a Sunweb rider (not revealed yet) and Mitchelton have decided to abandon the Giro after four positive tests by their staff. Also staff accused in Ineos and AG2R.
Starting to think the Giro won't reach Milan at this rate |

Starting to think either the Tour was a case of supreme luck or these Giro bubbles are sloppy. |

Given that Yates had been struggling for 2 days before he got the positive test back, it's more than possible that he himself spread it across the peloton.
But where he contracted it from, I have no clue. But given how many cases are happening in what is essentially a second wave still in Europe, I wouldn't he shocked if he got it from a spectactor in the road. |

Yeah, there’s that possibility although the spectators seem to be more civilized here than they were on the Tour... but the danger exists, of course. As all the reasons ringo explained some pages ago. Let’s see if there are more positives in the way during the week. The way this is looking we could have an Almeida-Vanhoucke-McNulty podium in Milan or wherever they finish. Odd times.
Matthews was the Sunweb rider btw. |

The Giro will not last 3 weeks. The virus is inside the "bubble". It will spread through the whole peloton, if it hasn't already. I would be surprised if we get to the next rest day.
Also, what is the point in continuing other than for money? Is the winner of this edition really going to be seen as a true Giro winner?

Matthews is the Sunweb rider.
Both Lotto and Sunweb continue in the Giro. |

This... sort of explains why we're getting positives. This is really bad news for the Giro. Not only does it display some lack of organization, but it means that the bubble is completelly screwed. |

Agree, in Spain the situation isn't better either so La Vuelta may also be in jeopardy.

The Tour was a case of bullsh*t testing. Don't forget they did have Positives, but by only testing on rest days it's very easy to miss cases. I think they did get a little luck as well, but mostly they just ignored the potential problem and banked on no-one speaking out against the biggest race.
For the Giro, once one rider has it things will spiral fast. Two days ago they were barely a meter away from dozens of riders, sweating, talking, breathing hard, for 5+ hours. There is no way on earth an infected rider did not pass it to one other.
Let alone any bubble breaches (and cycling's "bubbles" are more like sieve's anyway, having to rely on public hotels & outsiders to the sport).

Entire Jumbo team will not start today as well. Sunweb looks like it will though...
This is beginning to look like a shit show now. |

Bubble in the Giro is not working like it should. The hotel situation should not happen and didn't happen in the Tour.

They should simply cancel the whole race and likely the next as well including Vuelta.
The situation became worse again lately and already shows that the bubble thing not going to work anymore.
For the health of all riders/organisation/TV stuff etc. it`s a pure farce to continue. |

Absolutelly insane performance by Sagan. His best GT victory by far and one of his best performances. Incredible.
Pozzo looked strong, wasn't expecting him to comeback. Jakob losing time is ironic. Allez Almeida, the dream continues! |

A classic Sagan win.
Whatever happens, this was a worthy stage and a powerful performance from Almeida. If we reach the high mountains, beware of Pozzovivo. |
