Strong ride and effort by Alaphillipe. But I love to see Hirschi taking the medal! He has a wonderful future ahead. |

Good podium with Ala, WVA and Hirschi (2nd bronze in a row in road race for Switzerla d and this event). Glad that Roglic is not on the podium, was he once at the front or did he expect wva is slaving for him? lol

Great finale. Very likeable winner.
Now that the warm-up race is over, time for the main event, the Grandissima!

pog has a pretty weird handlebar, is that the new style in the peloton - flat handlebars?
Btw take a look at Hirschi's stem and record your reaction

The strongest won, you knew he was going attack there and nobody could follow him. WVA might have been equaly strong, but not on the hills. I'm just really disappointed in Roglic, he had a chance to repay Wout for 3 weeks in le Tour and he did nothing. Even more glad Pogacar won now.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Definitely expected more from Roglic to help Van Aert there, but I think he was completely empty. Only took a few turns, was almost dropped from the group after the top of the climb and then finished last in the sprint.

One of the German commentators said he liked that Roglic was "loyal" to his country by not pulling for WVA. Which clearly paid off, since he finished with the group to sprint for sixth place, instead of working for WVA and then not being able to follow in the finale, which would likely have had him finish in *checks notes* ... sixth place.
€: Apparently, WVA said Roglic did all he could. Supports alex's impression.

It's also nice for Alaphillipe he can ride Ardennes twice with the rainbow jersey.

I don't understand this talk at all. You're representing your country and not your team. And Roglic was clearly empty and was almost dropped a couple of times. They were really disrespectfull on Sporza. Their stupid nationalistic bullshit was already bugging me during TdF. Alaphilippe was the strongest and not WVA. |

Nationalities affect the trade team racing. Roglic is the best evidence for that..Why shouldnt it be allowed the other way around?
Only PCM AI rides without personality, gratitude or sympathy.
Its fair that Roglic was empty but countless hours of racing and many many race situations have shown us that nationality and trade team alliance matter a lot.

And who's paying you all season long, your country or your team? It's very naive to think people should just ride for their country and forget everything else. If people ride for their country, how did Rui Costa ever win that WC?
I think it's hard to underrate what WVA has done for Roglic in le Tour, so if he had something left in the tank, he should have done something back. I guess he really was empty, so yeah, end of discussion.
I guess Devenyns is probably the smartest, he simply turned down his Belgian selection because he didn't want to chase Alaphilippe.

You're wearing the jersey of your national team, therefore you are representing them. You are selected by a national coach, who had a job to select the best riders to try and get the best possible result. Your loyalty should be in the team you are representing in that particular race. I would be furious if one of my riders would sacrifice himself for another country/team. Thats not why you're selected.

By this trade team logic, international football would not exist, given the severe inter-club rivalries!
