The difference between 14th and 15th in the GC is insane

I often wonder how high your average domestique could finish int eh overall standings of a GT if they actually went for it and had team support behind them. Depending on level obviously I reckon most could finish somewhere in that canyon between the actual GC favorites and the rest and get a top 25 most years.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

The best two climbers today were WVA and Gesink which I think sums up today's stage in terms of excitement Grin

Ok WVA dropped Bernal. We deserve a Jumbo-Visma doping hate thread now

I don't really get how Bernal being total crap is Jumbo's fault? Roglic gained 15 seconds on Enric Mas, if anything that's a bad performance from Roglic.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I said it jokingly but WVA looking out there like Eddy fucking Merckx and Kuss could podium this race if he wanted to is concerning me...

It appears that Roglič is clearly miffed by all the constant claims about his form being related to PED's and stuff. There are some chain of events that prove to some that their claims are "correct":
1. The Erzen connection - Roglič started in Adria Mobil, where Milan Eržen (part of the Operation Aderlass doping scandal) worked in at the time.
2. His age when he turned pro - Roglič enetered cycling at the age of 23, which is by some considered a bit late. In 2016 he became pro at the age of 26. There are riders, who established themselves before even turning 26.
3. You "can't trust" Jumbo-Visma - many journalist will point out Jumbo - Visma's doping past which goes back to their years as Rabobank.

Honestly, I find all these claims to be irrelevant - riders are repeatedly tested for doping and as far as Roglič is concerned, he never tested positive. So he's innocent til proven guilty. I think it's easy for journalists to point the finger at Rider X due to either being connected to personnel related to doping scandal or the team he rides for being shrouded in doping conspiracies/claims without backing it up with actual evidence.

So what, the same could be applied to Armstrong for many years lol Pharma is way ahead of WADA

Please let's just focus on this boring race called Tour de France. No reason to try to clear the suspicions, neither side will change its mind. Let's just hope we get to see more action in the next few stages.

If a rider would be on a program I guess this season is the one where he could go all in with testing capacities greatly diminished, would be interesting what the pros say to that e.g. David Millar.

Well it wasn't really particularly aimed at you, but a few things to consider:

1) As I said, Bernal and Quintana are just weak, whatever their excuse is. They got beaten today by Harold Tejada, of whom I bet many have not heard before this Tour.
2) WVA is in top shape, simple as that.
3) It's easy to drop people if you know your race ends 5-10 km before theirs.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Any takers on Bernal 'doing a Landis' on either stage 17 or 18?

alexkr00
I doubt he will go down without a fight even now, but it's highly unlikely he'll be able to do that given how strong Jumbo look.

And then there's the matter that even though yesterday was a bad day for him, he hasn't looked especially good so far this Tour. In the stage where Pogacar made back some of the time he had lost in the wind, Bernal looked to be in trouble as Pogacar, Roglic and Quintana attacked.

So he'd have to find a fantastic form in the final week pretty much out of nowhere to pull that off.

I told you guys since his great performance at Algarve and then his Mont-Ventoux and Emilia outing where he crushed the field, Tejada is the real deal. Cool

After seeing how Thomas was riding Tirreano TT is fact now that Ineos did fucked up to leave him out at tour.
Being a team absolute and only leader from day 1 is different creature. Even stronger guys have failed to deliver.

But like before. Giro is better anyway..even with Thomas included Smile
