Kruijswijk actually confirmed now as a non starter. Amund Jensen replaces him. Still the strongest squad by miles, in especially with Froome/Thomas not in form and out to make it a second super team. |

Maybe Thomas just didn't feel like being a domestique at the TdF so decided to play his form a bit worse than it was to get his own chances?
Obviously a blow for INEOS, but still they have 3 potential GT top 5 riders in that starting lineup, including last years winner. So maybe it isn't so bad to have a team of somewhat young and loyal backups. But it is obviously a huge blow if Bernal was to disband for some reason.

Kruijswijk will not ride the Tour, yes. Replaced by Grondahl Jansen. (Didn’t realize there was a page 2 already )
By the way, where is De Plus?? Injured?? Tied up to a pole in a stinky garage to not sign for Ineos? |

Jumbo said yesterday de plus had not recovered from injuries.
Still a super strong team they've picked |

I agree with you. Thomas knew he wouldn't be able to contest Bernal's leadership so instead of pretending to play the domestique he decided not to play at all.
Sad that Kruijswijk isn't starting the Tour, but hopefully he can recover and give it a full shot at Il Giro.
Interesting replacement though as Jansen is anything but a climber. Maybe this means less flat domestique responsibilities for Van Aert and he can have a go at the green jersey? One can only hope.

I do see Thomas as one of the smarter riders in the peloton and I think he fully realises he's never going to win a GT again. I think it's just a case of not good enough.
I think Jumbo took Jansen to take over van Aert duties as you say, but not for green but for the classics that follow in this short season.

I hope WVA will go for the green as he seems the only chance to give a challenge to Sagan, this can be a great duel

Looking at his abilities, wouldn’t be surprised seeing WVA towing Jumbo up the mountains and still sprinting for green. |

Ever since Contador retired I am not that much into GTs anymore but to this Tour edition I have been looking forward for a while now, primarily since I moved to Paris last October.
I hope that Jumbo won't be too dominant, it's rather annoying and be either Jumbo or Ineos it creates the same dull racing.
I would like to see Pinot unleash some massive hype here in France, preferably by taking a stage win early and then winning the jersey at the Champs. I would also like to see if Landa finally gets the podium that was forsaken from him a few years back, and also would be great to see him snatch one or two stages this time around.
I think overall competition is quite good. Dumoulin riding into form could mean that the best GT rider of the last few years is making his comeback, Bernal is obvious title contender for the win and would have sidelined Froome and Thomas anyway, and Roglic is obv a beast, all the more since he won the Vuelta. Good field overall but let's hope that not half of them crash out...
Hopefully there will also be a surprise rider coming out of the race that gives us some WTFs. For example, Barguil was quite a nice albeit expected surprise a few years back, and would be cool to see him fall in the same mould again. Maybe it could be Muhlberger who snatches some stages and then goes on to win the WC. Let's dream
Allons-y !

No doubt he can do it, but he got so many classics to win I'd really like to see him save himself a bit. Green jersey is nice, but there's 3 more monuments to win as well.
In other news, 2 positive corona tests in your team (riders + staff) and you're out.

That seems very harsh over 3 weeks but it will tone down the media circus significantly

The non-sensical 2 positives and the team's out rule has been scrapped. Good thing, no idea what kind of bureaucrat came up with that bs.
