Jack Burke getting some TV time was fun. Too bad he finished outside the time limit.

Brutal race! Very entertaining.
Honestly hadn't expected Potts and his 62 MO to do so well.
Congrats to Pluchkin and thanks for a great report cunego.

Disappointing, but was to be expected with this route. Can't see any other result for the A race or TT.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Yay! We got our blue jersey back
Interesting results though, good mix of all sorts of riders, however Pluchkin and Spilak should make short work of the non climbers in the main event to battle it out for glory I would assume now.

Pleasantly surprised Janse van Rensburg not only finished the race, but held out pretty well in the breakaway. Now I need to look at Uran's cobblestone stat to see if he even finishes the race Thanks for the awesome race cunego, and congrats to Pluchkin!

Really sweet race and fantastic report! I think Herklotz might be able to contest Pluckhin and Spilak in the A race but it should be a thrilling one!

Fun race! Seeing the riders behind Pluchkin, I'm curious to see Polanc and Kruijswijk in the A race. They surely must hope for a medal now, seeing how the B race went.
Congratulations on the very much expected win, fjhoekie! The breakaway looked dangerous though, and I think it could be a great shot for any outsider in the A race too, to try to join the early breakaway to start the final well ahead.
And wow, what a report, cunego59! I really enjoyed that, thank you for your effort |

Still think having a rider like Pluchkin in the B Race kind of ruins this race. Nonetheless absolutely magnificent report and I'm happy with Marzuki taking the bronze medal here. Would love if there was a race for his speciality in the regular season. |

Not what I would have pegged as JJ's best result of the year, but it was. lol
Amazing report. Indeed, the Pluchkin win was inevitable. But he definitely earned it.

20 minutes? Clearly not a good WC route!
Lecuisinier could get a top 5 here in the elite race, but still this is no fun.

Conor Dunne!!!! What a ride.
Absolutely loved seeing our reliable domestique get a chance to shine on the biggest of stages, and a silver medal at any World Championship event is a massive achievement.
I'm cautiously optimistic for Herklotz now, although obviously he's just below Pluchkin and Spilak in terms of the necessary skillset here. A good day could surely make up for that though.
Great report cunego, absolutely worth the effort!

A shame Pluchkin was in the B race as others said but that's the way the cookie crumbles I guess, congrats fj. Still it barely deters from a brilliant report, thank you so much cunego, just great!
Happy enough with the placings of Bester and Houle and also nice to see Jams and especially our former man Velits finishing, the latter managing to fight just to fit inside which is great. Looking forward to the rest of them!

I am very confident the A Race will be different.
To be honest, this B Race with 20min gap was super weird and far from everything I have seen on that route before. |

There's a rather easy explanation for the massive gap: the extreme slopes on the last few kilometres.
In PCM 18 and forward, you can't take it easy on gradients above 12% or so anymore. Even going at dot 10% will see your heart rate go to 175 and beyond and your bars empty until you bonk and ride at 4km/h.
The cobbles just make things even worse.
So what I guess happened is that Pluchkin was the only rider left with any sort of yellow going into that part of the climb and could (involuntarily, as the game forced him to) still push 10km/h while everyone else went at 4km/h.
2 kilometres at 10km/h take 12 minutes to ride. 2 kilometres at 4km/h take 30 minutes to ride.
With a closer field in the A race, there will be more riders with energy left going into that part.

As much as I like to bash the game, that mechanic is actually more realistic imo. I've never been able to completely soft pedal a climb that steep in real life. I'd just stop and fall over. Of course, I'm not a pro, but...

Never been a fan of this route. Since it's been a voting, I'm okay with it. But I don't like it. And the result just proved it.
Thanks for report anyway and congrats to Pluchkin if course.

I think it should be much better once Pluchkin isn't 10 OVL better than every other rider on the startlist. The race it self was entertaining enough until the Moldovian hit.

Great to see Dekker and Boom go for a bronze medal here with first leading the team over the line! Love it.
Germany no.1 I the favorite list.
Thanks for the report and congrats to Spain.
Even more makes sense for next season to get rid of to difficult tts most of the time. |
