In my experience, prologues where you can just push through with 99 effort (i.e. with short distance and a lot of turns), are really random. I haven't done tests on short prologues on a straight road, though. But maybe we should have a minimum distance of let's say 5km for prologues for more realistic results. The downside would of course be that the gaps would be larger - something that may not be intended in every case.

Thank you for your explanations, jph27 and Fabianski. That was a very weird one And it must have been kind of stressful to report too, quickly realizing that there will be a bunch of riders on s.t. Well solved, jph27!
Foss in third is a big surprise. Cool to see him give some small points to Carlsberg. |

So much for our hopes of a stage win and maybe holding the leaders jersey for a few days, Gabby could only manage to finish 73rd despite being the favourite.
Hopefully the rest of the race makes some sense.

His first of many big results.

Yeah, thanks for the explanations. Was slightly worried it was a bad sign Shikai was one of our worst finishers, but now Im less worried. Still hope it doesn't affect his daily form negatively...

ToA was one of the most interesting races to follow last year, hope this year is as exciting!

And its already a solid decision to bring Itami here. The lead in the race is a bonus! Hopefully it doesn't mean the team will work for Itami instead of Shikai once we reach a stage with some climbs.

Not sure what happened there, suddenly we have some kind of sprint train but the next picture Gaviria is on his own again. We should stop wasting good opportunities
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

About as disappointing as I've come to expect from AKA. He was literally in the perfect position under the red kite, and his flat and resistance should have helped him in theory. But with the lottery that is PCM 18 sprints, I should be happy with a top 5.
Hopefully we can get lucky in the next few stages instead of unlucky. With sprints, that's really all there is to say. Otherwise, AKA being here will be a waste. Then again, him being 5th here can't be worse than being 16th in some other flat race, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Almost the perfect leadout, but the order was wrong! Hopefully, we get it right next time.

Hmm, you won't get many more chances Aberasturi, so you'll better start performing soon. Looking forward to the mountains in a couple of days, and also fearing them just as much |

Much better, but the result is still a bit disappointing.

After seeing AKA go from that ridiculously far out, I'm happy he didn't crack completely and was able to get a podium. But he was so close! it looks like he was coming back into the lead at the end there, but ran out of road. And there's only a couple of opportunities left here for a whole 21 days of racing.
Still, it's an improvement. I really want a win though. Tomorrow's probably our best chance.

Oh dear, Kraftwerk not bringing a better leadout for Haller looks like a big mistake. I hope the stronger mountain squad can make up for it.
Thanks for the fast pace reporting jph and congrats to the winners.

Dylan is doing really well so far, hopefully he can keep it up as it's great to see him being so competitive in the sprints.

Hadn't really thought of it, but Itami leading the race is a great bonus. Hopefully Shikai can take over for him when we get to the mountains, and we lead all but one stage Itami may have a chance at the points jersey too, something I hadn't planned for, so that would be another good points haul for sure.

I don't like finishing so close 4th again, but I like it even less Senni is working so much
