Well, I think it's safe to say that this race wasn't a success.

Tough day for Keough, but our main GC threats are all still very functionally in the race which is good.

Geremie Nzeke you sexy so and so... awesome to see our former rider in one of the great races of his life sneaking his way onto the podium in a pretty dream scenario for me - Chaves, Netia and a former rider <3
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

I can’t complain with the efforts of Paez there! Does enough to hold onto 9th in the GC and 2nd in the Youth classification as well. Certainly more than I expected out of a race where we really just sent our young riders for experience.

Well, well, well Ryan Anderson had different things in mind. Congrats to Roche for being just a little tad stronger and taking the stage, but what a ride from the Canadian! Thanks for the reports!

Well tough day for many riders, Chaves does do his job for the team, though the help he was supposed to have seem to fall away a bit earlier than it should have. Now just don't botch things terribly tomorrow and we see ourselves finish right where we starrted.

The only bad thing is seeing Mader lose 2 minutes here, but maybe we'll see him in the breakaway for once.
Wow, did he deliver! Great show by him - too bad he couldn't hold on and fight for the stage win, but we couldn't really expect this. If he doesn't do any more stupid things tomorrow, he'll finish 10th in the GC, which of course is a huge result. I guess he'll be one of our Top 5 scoring riders with this...
With Guillén's stage win and some days in green, we absolutely can't complain here. If he should even win that jersey, that would be awesome. Maybe better let the breakaway win tomorrow's stage

Another Top 10 stage result, this time for Fonseca.
I must say, I have to consider this race a big success! We came here with a team not really capable of scoring any points at all. We leave with multiple stage top 10s, a stage 2nd, 8th in the GC and 2nd in the Youth classification. Fantastic effort from Paez!

Guillén does not simply let the breakaway win a stage

Good to see Chaves finally winning something this year. He is too good stat wise compared to his performances far too often.
Surprising it`s on a race such as Benelux with cobbles included though. But a nice mix of puncheurs/cobblers making it here into the GC spots. |

It hasn't been a great year for Chaves, but in the Summer of Azteca he finally righted things. As Eastman has continued to finally show his true potential, Chaves had been struggling, a poor finish in San Luis, awful in Sakartvelo then a reasonable ride in Nantahala leading to this victoy. No time too soon to find form as he has Rio Vista Chinesa coming up along with Grands Prix Cycliste, Euskal Bizkleta, Yekaterinburg and Zuri Metzgete all still remaining in a very backloaded schedule.
Starting with San Luis, he rides in 10 of my last 17 races. While Eastman is now down to just Bulgaria and Transfagarasan.
Great report, tough race to work with the complete diversity in what can/will happen.

Guillén does not simply let the breakaway win a stage
When I looked at the pics, I thought "he's talking about Guillén, Guillén, Guillén, but I can't see him - ah, wait, that's the green jersey guy"
Of course, it's a huge result for him - two stage wins, a 4th place, and the green jersey on top of that! But I don't really understand how this happened... In USAPCC, a race that should really have suited him, he got zero points, and here, in a race that's surely not tailor-made for him, he gets more than 50 points...
But the profile was probably one of the keys, as virtually no-one else sent good sprinters here. I was really hesitating as well, but it definitely was a good choice
Gino Mäder adds quite a lot of points to that as well, making it a much greater race for us than we could ever have imagined.
From a more neutral perspective, there once again was really passive racing - I mean, Guillén should never finish 4th on a hilly stage. Sometimes it's really hard to get PCM's logic...
Thanks for the reports, and congrats to Azteca once again.

Oh my days! Geremie Nzeke you little beauty! Where did that podium come from??? We even have a top 5 on GC for Hategeka to get a massive haul of points ina race that has been very hit and miss in the past. Great work GCN team
Well done to Azteca on the GC win
