A thread for strange AI behavior.
Please post here when you notice weird AI behaviour. Collecting it at one place makes it easier for Cyanide to solve and for us to send it to them in case it's needed.
Template:
- Is it in career mode/stage race mode/single stage mode?
- Could you attach a replay?
- In case you can, when does it happen in the replay (KMs remaining)?
- What happens there?
- What would you like to see/what do you think would be "real" cycling?

Hello everybody,
i am playing PCM's since the first in 2001 constantly. The first thing i need to know: is it stable? I love modding the databases and so i have to have a high tolerance to frustration. I dont know if i will by the 2020 Version because i have a good save in '19. My Question to AI-related things: How may crashes are happening? In '19 they reduced it too much (in my opinion). And will there be Echelons? in '19 there where practically none...
I look forward to some Feedback,

I noticed that it is almost impossible to get in a breakaway. as soon as you attack the ai immediately starts to pace to reel you back in. This takes the realistic part completely away and it is really frustrating. |

I only really played some ProCyclist thus far, and yes it is harder to make it into the breakaway, though I don't think it's unrealistic. It seems like you have to invest a lot of energy to get away but it's possible. It happens quite frequently in real life that the first kms of a stage are really fast and riders struggle to make it into the breakaway.

16 hours played and have yet to see a breakaway win. Doesn't matter wether i am in the break or not. It's completely broken. Peloton always reels them back in in the first half of the stage. I'm not even contributing to the chase. Then it is full peloton to the finish.

In Career Mode, one-day races AI seems to work ok, but not in Small and Grand Tours.
AI should be able to better identify possible future threads for General Classification in the breakaways, not allowing a 15-20 mins gap which throws away the General victory to a lower-level rider.
I know something similar can happen in GT in the reality, but only if there are many mountain/TT stages left and rider becoming new leader is not good at it. Pereiro was the exception
In Small Tours with almost no mountain, this should not happen at all. |

I've seen this both in Pro Cycling mode and in Carrear mode.
Also, I've seen that, in hilly/flat designated stages, once all the intermediate sprints/mountain points summits are passed, the breakaway just stops and gets back to the peloton.
In one of the situation they had 2:30+ minutes and they were caught by only doing 0.5 kms until peloton reached them. Then they started ridding again and some members even reacted to other attacks.
This happened when i had a rider in the break (in automatic) and was placing my top guy in the front of the peloton (windy stage) to avoid get caught in the bordures |

1- Hilly/Mountain stages finishing in flat.
Not sure why sprints cannot be in the same way as in flat stages. If is determined as hilly/mountain stage and a group of 40-50 riders finish together in flat section, there is no fight for positioning, best AI sprinters in the group stay at the end, and very short sprint makes any rider able to win/top3.
2- Riders block each other in small group breakaway. When it happens, is always in small breakaways of 2 to 4 riders. Suddenly first of them stops, and the rest of the riders are blocked, making them lose 2-3 minutes stupidly. |

3- Very often we have 4 or 5 teams relaying in the peloton to catch breakaway. More realistic behaviour would be if the peloton gives all the responsibility to leader/favourite/powerful teams, 1 or 2 teams max. Also probably we would see in this way more breakaways to make it until the end. |
