At the point, when you agree to stop the race at one point, you really should have stopped it immediately and not in 2 days only.
Either there is a reason to stop or there isn`t. By the look of all those cancellation there clearly is and it`s a huge question why P-N was even running until now. |

Fully agreed, I would be in favour of holding the races with no spectators permitted whatsoever, but these half measures are pathetic.

It`s not necessarily about spectators only.
Also riders can have the virus unseen as football shows right now. Then there is media, managers, sponsors, hotels etc. all involved.
Even without spectators this is still hundreds of people involved each day.
Just cut it, help control the situation by reducing "unnecessary" events to a minimum to speed up the process.
Those half stuff is the worst, totally agree. |

Well obviously the road is closed, in that you can't drive down it while the race is on. But you can't close the footpaths and bridges and fields and gardens the road passes through. Just because the road is closed doesn't mean the pavement running on each side of the road is closed, or the field the road runs next to is closed. It's all open to the public and you can't stop them using it.

Well that's quite different to Belgium indeed. Pavements, parking lots and stuff are considered to be part of the public road and so they can be shut off easily. Or they can ask a fee for standing on it when there's a race. Also traffics laws are canceled so riders can't be fined for speeding (yes, it has happened).
Private gardens are a different thing, but first of all I'd say it rather rude to go stand in someone else's yard. Secondly you can still prohibit gatherings of too many people even if it's on private property. Thirdly, anyone who's trying to bend the rules right now should be shot on sight. Sit on your couch and watch the race from there.

I still don't get why Schachmann was bailed out after his crash yesterday. Had a great race but the GC fight could've ended differently. |

I have been thinking, in quarantine there is some time now (at least on the weekends) and there is no cycling going on. Maybe I will re-watch some classics. Any suggestions?
I have watched some stages of the infamous Giro 2015 multiple times but other than that, I am good for anything.
Some of my ideas:
Paris Roubaix 2016 and 2017
Gent Wevelgem 2015
Strade Bianche 2015
Vuelta 2017 - Contador attacks (every stage basically)
(maybe) Tour 2016
Tirreno-Adriatico 2015 - Guadrigelelelel stage
Amstel Gold Race 2019
Tour of Flanders 2017
Olympic Road Race 2016
Some first thoughts on my mind. Any other suggestions?

Without sounding too pessimistic, I believe this lockdown and cancelling of events will go on for a long time yet. So if I were you I'd invest the time in watching the huge history of races out there. For example you could pick a classic like Liege Bastogne Liege or Paris-Roubaix etc and watch every edition of those races from the early 1990s until present day, it would kill time, give a great history lesson and see the evolution of these races over the years. Most of these races are available on You Tube with about one hour to two coverage on each edition.
