2018 season was a rough one. After a somewhat promising start, month by month we kept sliding down the rankings and finished dead last, 19th. Is that so bad? Hell naw, we got ourselves a core, learned the ropes and we are ready to go this year.

2019 season began with DK Zalgiris announcing a partnership with the country of Georgia, good friends of Lithuania and a nation full of youngsters who want to prove their worth on a global stage.

Our leading scoring, Evaldas Siskevicius remained on the team, amongst only other 5, which were all Lithuanians except young UBER talent Kyeng Ho Min. With a top 25 scorer in Siskevicius, and a bigger budget, DK Zalgiris are surely going to improve their record in 2019.

We went into renewals with a clear goal - get rid of players that we will be able to bring back without any issue.
We will be rolling into 2019 with a massive 6 man roster, allowing maximum flexibility.

I'm glad that Videika made the cut for you. Only was stagiare for a season at my team and i dont know if he even scored a single point but i like him somehow Grin

We're happy to announce our first arrivals of the transfer window, a trio of youngsters joining the team permanently, and a loanee.

Let's start off with a Lithuanian Justas Beniusis, a young timetrialist, not particularly impressive anywhere else but on flat time trial stages. Joins us on a 50k wage.

Next up is a Georgian youngster Sulkhan Akhmaevi, part of Georgia's youth prosperity program. He is more versatile than Beniusis, albeit more of jack of all trades, master of none. 50k for him too.

Third rider joining us at the moment is Jhonatan Narvaez, an Ecuadorian native, who grew up idolizing Lithuanian women cyclists, which explains his choice of his first pro team. Joining us on 55k wage, this puncher is heir apparent to Siskevicius.

Another youngster joins the ranks of Zalgiris, and that is a beasty boy Alexandr Ovsyannikov from Kazakhstan. He's fairly decent on cobbles and on flat finishes, but his stardom will only come in a few years. We had to pry him away from couple of teams, but in the end we secured him for 80k

Big Boy.

Enough of this baby hour kindergarten stuff. From now on it's all REAL SHIT. The real meat of the team is gotta start pouring in, and we have 2 lads that we've picked up from the free agency.

Starting off with Kai Reus. After a disappointing season (for someone on 150k) and an offseason of decline, he's joining DK Zalgiris for 70k. One of ours goals was to build a strong TT team, after failing to do so last year, and he is the first piece. He can also help on pretty any terrain, such a versatile rider with ability to score points is a steal.

And the last rider joining the squad this evening is Tesfar Teklit from Eritrea. 200+ points scored last season for Equinor, we've managed to pick him up for only 50k. What are other teams doing letting him fall into our lap, I do not know. He will be Siskevicius' lieutenant, and possibly even try his luck leading the squad.

DK Zalgiris has announced the arrival of two more riders, plugging more holes on the roster.

First up is Tushantha Rajapakshage, joining us from Farfetch Pro Cycling for 50k. As it was outlined when talking about Kai Reus, we want to build a good TTT team. He is also a decent hill domestique, with ability to get into breakaways.

And the second signing is gonna be our cobble leader, Alexandr Nepomnyachsniy, joining us from SPAR for 325k. We've completely neglected cobbled races last year, and I wasn't going to make the same mistake again. With a couple of talented cobblers in Videika and Ovsya coming up, having a mentor like Nepo cannot hurt.

For our 15th spot on the roster we bring in DA BIG GUN. For club record 1 MILLION DOLLARS Benat Intxausti joins DK Zalgiris from Duolingo. Preliminary talks included only 650 thousand fee, but due to clerical error that rose up to a million. Taking some weight off Siskevicius' shoulders, Benat will be relied upon to score big buck points in the stage races and if possible, help out in TTTs. 300k wage is a rather large one for CT team, but is it worth it when MAL was on 200k last year? I'll say yeah. From now on forever known as a Lithuanian, Benat Intxausti is the new member of Greatest Team On Earth.

Our omega super talent Kyeng Ho Min has departed DK Zalgiris for Farfetch Pro Cycling for 500k. While it is sad to see a youngin who has started spreading his wings in Lithuania, we could not hold onto him for too long to stall his progress towards becoming the next TdF winner.

That is a great CT team for everything going uphill while Nepom should be good on the CT cobbles. A wonderful turnaround this transfer window after a difficult first season!
