I was just wondering if women velogames races should not be counted against PCMdaily velogames championships from next season.
Or if it would not be a better to create a separate league for these kind of races.

I do not know what do you guys think, but I think it is inconsistent because not everybody is interested in playing women races and hence it can distort the overall results. Also for me mixing men and women races together does not make so much sense. But yeah well, its just my opinion.

I truly agree with this. I didn't even know that they had counted, maybe thats why im nowhere near the top 5.

Keep it as it is please, it gives you a reason to follow women cycling more.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I am thinking about those (including myself) who want to play PCM championship but are not interested in following women cycling.
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

I'm with Kalach on this one. I find no joy in selecting a random squad and I'm not particularly interested in following women's cycling.

I have never scored well in the women's cycling and still don't know it nearly as well as the men's BUT I do know it better than I did thanks to Velogames. It also means I have watched more women's racing and enjoyed watching it more too.

I think if we support more exposure for women's racing then Velogames is a small part of that picture too. Otherwise it makes me feel on a par with ASO's "we'll give it all of one day in the sun but it doesn't really count" approach. It has to grow across the board from wages and budgets, to TV coverage, to even Velogames competitions!

Totally understand why people would want it otherwise and scoring wise it would certainly suit me to be seperate! Grin

I just think the racing is often exciting and deserves a chance and we can't really pick and choose about where it has that chance, it's all or nothing when you are trying to establish something against the well established men's scene. Supporting those Velogames leagues is a small part of increasing exposure.

Hope that makes sense and, as I say, no offence intended to anyone, I can see both sides Smile

Keep it as it is. Gives people a good reason to learn something about womens cycling. Im not interested in portugese cycling and have limited knowledge of who of the portugese riders are "juiced" up for the Volta a Portugal, but i enjoy nevertheless Pfft because of Velogames Pfft

A bit confused about the reactions here. I can understand you don't watch women's basketball because there are no dunks or women's football because it's too slow, but cycling is exactly the same. In face, I've seen better woman races than men races if I look at the past few years.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Well but everybody who wants could continue in all of that just in a separate competition sth like PCM daily Velogames Women Championship. Thats all what I am suggesting - not mixing men and women together. Meaning everybody interested could still learn things about women cycling. Just those who are not interested would not be suffering from non participating in women velogames race Pfft

Must say I find myself in Ian and Ollfardh's boat.

And I also struggle to see the logic behind the remove the women races from the Daily Championship and continue the Daily Championship without them. After all, the Giro Rosa and Women's Tour have both been part of the Daily Championship in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and established themselves as part of the Championship, just like Volta a Portugal and any game Velogames present us.

It's probably something to discuss at the end of the season. Personally I am happy to keep the women's races in the game. It's a season long competition to challenge everyone's overall knowledge. As others have said, some people have no interest in the tour of Portugal or the BinckBank Tour or the Tour of Britain so why remove the women's races but keep some of the minor mens races. As I said, we can maybe have a poll at the end of the season.

Just for interest, if we remove the womens races from the league so far this is the top 25:

ember 351 0
Clamel 324 +1
Ian Russell 321 -1
alexkr00 269 +1
Timo 268 +1
FreitasPCM 256 -2
Banesi 241 +2
Gargatouf 228 -1
Kalach 223 -1
emre99 222 +1
Gustavovskiy 207 +3
Ringo182 206 -2
JotaCe 206 +2
roturn 203 -2
Purepasd 180 +3
Omloop 175 -3
Lord Di Lego 163 -1
LaChouffe 156 -1
NathanCT 146 +1
Marcovdw 141 -1
Wyman 141 0
Alari 125 +1
DaveTwoBob 105 -1
Andrej 98 +1

I've added a little +/- after the score to show the position change compared to the overall table. Noone has really been affcted that much at this stage, and Kalach is actually a place worse off if you take out the womens scores , although there are still two women's races to go this season.

I don't think we want to start competing leagues on the site. It would be easy enough to have the overall championship throughout the season, which involves all races. I could then maybe do a bit of an end of season review/awards which could say who was the mens only champion, womens only champion, who won the most individual games etc.

Surprised no-one has suggested keeping the league as it is, then having Men's and Women's as sub rankings to appease everyone or is that too much work for those organising?

FreitasPCM
Why not create a separate PCMDaily women’s velogames league? I personally like playing these games as they have incited me into following more women’s cycling and it is very interesting actually. Smile

ringo182
As I said, we can discuss it at the end of the season.

I'm happy to go with the majority opinion and am also happy to keep the men's and women's points separate so we can have the overall competition but then also have the scores for the men and women only. Although given ember's dominance over the last couple of seasons it'll probably just mean he will win 3 leagues instead of 1

@Ollfardh: This is not a solution for me. I do not know what to say to this kind of reaction but maybe just clarify I did not mean to make here hassles. I came here just for discussion about this topic and keen to know if there are some others who would be supporting this.

@ember: I am not suggesting to remove them from championship. Just to make them count separately. Thats all.

@ringo182 Well, that would be pretty fine as you are suggesting. To have men`s and women`s points and then overall. That would be pretty good I think considering that there is not much work for you to do it like this. But yeah only in the case that others would support this as well Smile And thanks for your provided table.

Generally speaking womens velogames leagues are pretty low in number of participants. Even the last one in our league here can score solid points whereas in men velogames leagues it is harder since there are more guys.
Anyway I guess there is a much less participants in general in comparison with the prior year which is a pity.

So guys no offence to anyone I just tried to express my point of view. But I think future pool results as ringo suggested before the next season would make it much clearer and more fair.
Cheers

Better think on it during the off-season.
I recall myself doubting when the first Women race took place. Knew next to nothing, but dug in to learn as much as I could. That helped I think, and a damn lot of luck. I won the first ladies race if I'm not all wrong. Embarassed

I agree with some that say it brings a little new flavour to the races and riders we know much better.

Some sort of discussion after season will be good to bring out the cons and pros.

Until that time I concentrate to get my best overall year in order. Ladies or no ladies. (Hm they might help me again, since nr1. in Norway after two stages).

Always liked the ladies, on or off the bikes Rolling Eyes
