Yeah, indeed. I really thought he was declining hard then, but I guess it was just a bad situation.

That's the crazy thing What a rider, classy and bold, love it
Also, Siskevicius in 8th is all I ever wanted from this cycling season From having to have the gates opened so he can finish last year to a top 10 is quite the turnaround!

GVA basically let them go and was just watching. He would won this had he been in this group.
Gilbert and Polit absolutely fantastic rides. I just do not like when Gilbert attack basicaly in the feed zone
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

So to summarise.
Phil warmed up for 220km. Took his jacket off and did a madness.

What a great race! The guys that want to attack win it once again. A very strong Van Aert who was really unlucky (mechanical, bike change, crash I still don't understand after 5 replays, almost hit by a car) but he got back all the way to the front of the race. Not a surprise he was dead at the end.
The other 5 guys all deserved to be there and I thinkt he two strongest made it in the end. 4/5 for Gilbert in the race he was least likely to win in my opinion. I'm afraid he won't be winning San Remo before he retires though, he just doesn't have the same punch anymore. Still, a great career. Four monuments hasn't happened since Sean Kelly, a completely different era.
Politt a nice 2nd, looking forward to what he can do next season. Nice call from Roturn (I think) as well, he was very close.
Lampaert recovering after not living up to the expectations in the previous races, good for him
Vanmarcke once again unlucky with the mechanical in the end. I know his bad luck streak had to end one day, but it keeps going year after year and he's almost at the end of his career.
Same Sagan we saw all year, impressive before the final, total crack in the final. He's clearly doing something wrong his year.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Roosen (I think) was at the back of the peloton after Arenberg talking to them. After a few moments he went back into the pack after clearly being told to do so by the team. I don't know if that was just the DS or Van Aert himself didn't request for any help.

While he's certainly past his peak, I think it's a bit of a stretch to say 30 year old Vanmarcke is almost at the end of his career.

Didn't realise he was only 30, seems like him Omloop win was from another era.
