It's been years since the more durable sprinters barely scratched the top 20. Ho hum, the only way is up... hopefully!

Major win. De Gendt in Catalunya is a must. |

Good weekend for me... last in Catalunya and last in Gent-Wevelgem.

Catalunya didn't seemed to go in plan. No GC contenders in team, hodeg disappoints, De Gendt and Valverde major points and Aristi, Gibbons with an okay few hundreds..

Same here.
Hodeg for 12 points giving me a 0-pointer unfortunately. Was expecting 1-2 sprint chances surely, where he would be one of the best bets then in a weak sprinter field and Quickstep early spring form dominance.
And Kelderman unfortunately crashed out from decent points. |

A congratulations for Ian's consistent team - realistically, only Bernal was in the GC contention - but having Schachmann, Matthews, Impey, De Gendt with good scores means sometimes you don't have to aim at an 'all in GC riders' team to win. |

League Table updated following Catalunya. Congrats to Ian on his 4th place overall to earn 20 bonus points. That takes him up to second overall just 5 points behind Timo. Clamel rounds off the top 3 who have started to pull away a bit.
All eyes are now on the Spring Classics game.

Thanks folks, nice to get only my second win in all the many week long stage races we've had. Schachmann was probably the key - he looked strong in Strade Bianche before some misfortune and thankfully carried the form through.
I still thought the final placings would scupper things but Dan Martin dropping away on the last stage and all the points from subsidiary competitions (4 of the top 5 in points comp etc.) saw me home...Spring Classics isn't going nearly so well!

Well done Ian. I did not think the stages would fit Schachmann well enough despite his form, but I'm happy with a top 5. It will be hard to catch you and the other strong participants again this year, but I will try. Always had trouble with the Spring Classics though. |

Cheers. Plenty of time left...not to mention you, and many others, are well up on me in Spring Classics. I am enjoying not having the bigger headache of limited transfers though!

Well done Ian. My hat off to you. Then I didn't do too badly myself. Beaten only by the Master (as I see it) is acceptable
I had a 7th place i overall on that Catalunya but dropped to 17th I see. Too few and correct GC blokes on my team did me in at last.
Spring Classic is surely a different thing this year. Appreciate all the headache of thinking ahead for races when making the changes. Still the separate races could have been scored on too, but as I said previously too hard work for Ringo.
In present new form SC can be saved if you make terrible wrong picks for a race.
Do notice that Ian got his 5th individual win. Remarkable
You sure can pick them mate

Thanks Clamel. There's always that element of luck involved - Dan Martin falling out of contention for the GC on the last stage was rather unexpected and unfortunate for your team. Did he have some sort of incident or just a bad day I wonder? :/

Martin was caught on a crash, presumably the one that took Bardet out. Unfortunate as he could have also granted me a top-10 spot... |

Hey, all! Itzulia Basque Country game is open for entries until tomorrow morning, we are running short on 10 members at the moment, so a little bump in the thread to give people a heads up for this week's race. Anyone who's still on the 2018 league please make sure to enter the respective one for 2019, code is on the thread title! |
