That is looking like a very good team with a very good regional focus. I look forward to facing you on all terrain, not just hills

DK Žalgiris are pleased to announce the 2nd wave of signings, most of them being foreign youngsters brought in to compete with Lithuanians, and push them to improve.
Probably the biggest one of them is Kyeng Ho Min, a South Korean, country not known for their passion for cycling, is a very promising 22 year old climber.

Next one in line is a Lithuanian Venantas Lasinis, an unpolished stage racer, although he is not shaping up to become the next Tour de France winner, he will eventually end up being a decend squad fodder.

Another Lithuanian youngster joining the ranks is Raimondas Rumsas. Sounds familiar? Yes, his dad doped up to provisionally take 3rd in Tour De France once upon a time. While he doesn't have the natural talent that his father did, he is on trajectory to become a good time trialist

Another promising stage racer joining Žalgiris is Keagan Girdlestone(what a name). South African native is said to be a slow learner, so it might take a few years for him to reach the level where he could pose any challenge to climbers, but with the right surroundings, he is destined to become a leader at least at CT level.

Since Žalgiris were not able to acquire the 2nd biggest Lithuanian star in Navardauskas, a role of baroudeur hadn't been filled until now. Italian youngster Davide Ballerini will be the one responsible for representing Žalgiris on the TV screens.

And lastly, a climber from Kenya, Hussein Manfred. With still some room to grow, he may reach leader status one day, but for this season, his role is shaping up to be one of a helper.

With all these signings done, the word coming out from the Žalgiris camp is that there should be at least couple more arrivals to round up the squad.

Nicely composed squad in terms of regional focus. Siskevicius is a nice leader on that level and Kruopis might snatch a few results of planned right.

Love the strong Lithuanian presence on the team. Siskevicius could very well be one of those riders that overperform in relation to main stats!
Also happy you picked up Rumsas. Had him on as stagiaire last season but couldn't find a spot for him after relegating and felt h should ride for you anyway so glad you found each other. With some careful planning it should even be possible to get him to lvl 4 already this season with having to loan him out.

With transfer window coming to the close, DK Žalgiris has announced it's final signings and complete squad for 2018 CT season.
First arrival is Hungarian Balazs Rozsa. Žalgiris has tried to acquire a young sprinter throughout the transfer window, and eventually settled on Balazs. Not thought to be a leader to the future, it's most likely that he will be someone club might use as a trade chip in the future.

Next up, a veteran timetrialist Roman Kreuziger, solely signed to be the timetrial leader for Vilnius GP, and possibly earn us more points elsewhere. Joining for 55k, Žalgiris staff were delighted to acquire him.

First of the two young Lithuanian signed towards the end of the window is Tomas Gembeckas, joining Žalgiris as a stagiare. A true allrounder, it is hard to predict how his career is going to shape up.

The second Lithuanian talent, picked up in the 2nd round of the CT draft, is Airidas Videika. With some experience riding for Evonik - ELKO, he is thought to be the main Lithuania's representative on the cobbles is the near future.

And with our 1st round pick in the draft, Žalgiris has selected Gorka Izagirre, who had been sacked by Euskaltel a week prior. With squad being quite poor in mountain department, expectation is that Gorka will help secure a few more points during stage races and in one of our goals, Sakartvelo Trophy.

That looks like a good squad considering your focus region! I fear that you'll find this amount of riders to be far beyond necessary, but that's part of the learning process of a new manager.
I'd already cheer for your team based solely on the fact that you have signed Keagan Girdlestone, if anyone is not aware why this guy is so so special, you have missed out on the greatest story cycling had to offer in the last decade.

Glad to see that kreuziger and kruopis found new homes in your team. Kreuziger should be a very solid rider at the CT level, although I think riders in kruopis' style are really losing their value unfortunately. Hopefully he can be better for you than he was for us last year.
Good luck this season, it might be a tough year but you have a great team base for the future! |

Nice to see you pick up Kruopis - I was thinking of bringing him back to my team but didn’t have the cap to challenge you there. He was the sole reason my team promoted to PCT 3~ seasons ago and I unfortunately had to let him go the next season. Great to see him riding for a team like yours though - best of luck

With team calendars being finalised DK Žalgiris has announced its leader attendance for races during January through March.
Siskevicius will begin his season in Žalgiris' opener in San Cristobal, where he is expected to instantly put some numbers on CT leaderboard for the squad. His second appearance in Gisborne GP appears to be a great opportunity to score team's first ever victory.
Kruopis will be our main rider for more prestigious C1 races, where he may be able to steal some points, if sprinter-focused teams will save their leaders for more important races.
Lopez and Izagirre will form a stage-race duo for most of the multi-day races this season. While expectations are not high for them, a good performance in some of the stages would be appreciated by Lithuanians and sponsors alike.
January
C2 - Clasico San Cristobal - Siskevicius
C2HC - Great Ocean Road Classic - Kruopis
February

March

January review
January was not the most eventful month for us, compared to the next two, but our boys still managed to bring some point back.
Clasico San Cristobal - Siskevicius 7th
Siskevicius / Ballerini / Blums / Girdlestone / Lasinis / Rosza / Rumsas / Videika
As you can see, the team sent to Cuba was definitely on the younger side. In fact, Siskevicius was not initially expected to be there, but ultimately it was decided that this is a good place to score some points.
Ballerini has instantly proven his worth to the team, as he managed to get into the break, and even ride solo for some time. Great performance from him.
While Siskevicius was thought to be one of the favorites, we have to admit that it was not very realistic to expect a win from him here, considering it is a season opener and some teams want to start out swinging. Gisborne will be the real test for him.
Nevertheless, Siskevicius did his best to win the race, and not just place top 5 and be happy with, which is a great sign for the future, as he was not dropped and managed to stay with the main group and take 7th.
Great Ocean Road Classic - Kruopis 60th
Kruopis / Kaupas / Videika / Ballerini / Min / Talacka / Blekevicius / Kokorevas
This really was quite a pathetic performance from our main sprinter. The situation itself seemed to favor our team, as in we shouldnt have been this horrible. We will chalk it up to bad luck and move on from it. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come. February will test our sprinters a lot more

really unfortunate to see Kruopis with a terrible performance, its unfortuantely looking more and more like he's going to perform like he did for me last season which is dissapointing.
Apart from that, really nice to see Siskevicius pull off a nice finish at San Cristobal! |

Apart from that, really nice to see Siskevicius pull off a nice finish at San Cristobal!
Yeah, it is strange, I've tried to support him with some flat riders, but he still couldn't do anything. I hope Dzervus will pick up the slack (as he already has in Langkawi), and show Kruopis how its done (not going to happen but I can dream)

Not the best start for you guys, but when Siskevicius, Kruopis and Lopez find their gear it will get better. 7th isn't awful for Siskevicius, but I'd love to see him do even better as he could

Nice start by Siskevicius, the rest of the team has potential to improve although the season is still very fresh
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

I am quite positive that Siskevicius will get better results as he had basically no support in San Cristobal, and Ive already learned some squad building mistakes which will be addressed in the offseason. Dzervus has already scored us some points in Langkawi and he seems to be in great form too. All I need to wait for is Coppa Placci and the hilly tours where Ive sent the strongest squads.
I might even consider spending some srs cash for training cause I do plan on going full Lithuanian with very little help from abroad

February review
Decent month. Scored points in every single race we've participated in, although none were particularly impressive results, all that matters is that we did something, unlike in the GORC.
Tour de Langkawi - Dzervus (2nd Stage 1, Top 10 Stage 2 & 4, 5th in Points Standings), Girdlestone (Top 10 Stage 7), MAL (27th in GC, 4th U25)
We've scored points. That was more than I expected, Dzervus was in amazing shape first couple stages, eventually not being able to keep up with statiscally stronger sprinters. Girdlestone was close to getting a breakaway win on the last stage, ran out of gas in the dying meters, but still ended up in the top 10, our first notable breakway result. MAL with a few points for finishing 27th, I was hoping for top 25, but I am happy with that.
Ras Tailteann - Talacka (25th in GC)
We've scored. Thanks to Lukas' breakaway efforts those bonus seconds helped him reach that sweet Top 25 spot and not make this race a 0 pointer. Rest were trash.
Gisborne GP - Siskevicius (6th)
This was our most anticipated race following encouraging result from San Cristobal. Siskevicius seemed to be in pretty good shape, but his chase for a top 5 ended up fruitless and we have to settle for 6th, which is good I guess, but I believe we need more from him to reach top 15 in team standingw by the end of the year. Good thing is that he certainly hasn't heen outclassed yet, and that tells me that I can expect bigger things from him.
Hong Kong Challenge - MAL (Top 10 Stage 1, 11th in GC, 1st in U25), Izagirre (19th in GC)
This was unexlected to say the least. Really great performances by both guys in all three stages, bring home two top 20 finishes. MAL added a cherry on top of cake by being the best u25 performer, alongside a top 10 finisn. Couldn't have asked for more reason, a great ending to a month.
