Now that's funny, lets not kid ourselves, Azteca isn't here to win anything, just to give the youngsters some experience (sadly some of this lineup may be back next year...)

And Kip takes the win! Cool to see a victory for an amateur team, makes you wonder why Kip wasn't picked up by any of the CT teams. Congrats to SotD Smile

And thats the reason we had a battle for him... Great win for Kip, well done to be the first amateur to win a stage.

There has to be quite a lot of CT teams regretting not getting him in either the draft or for 50k

SotD
That went perfect. He will surely cost points here and there too from his horrible backup stats, but taking the leaders Jersey, points Jersey and stagewin will surely give me an amateur division lead for a while, until someone make a lucky punch :-)

I have to hope for another couple of top 3's before he drops out of the race.

I see you Xuban. Breakaway and the youth jersey! And not sure what's more impressive: Robert Sweeting 7th or Alberto Contador last.

Timmy Dupont with a nice fourth place to start the season. Kip makes some CT managers regret already Pfft

I think the main reason why teams were shy getting him was due to his stats other than SPR and ACC were subpar. Which is why teams aviod getting him.

I'd be honest Kip was part of my list, but my 7th choice

Happy to see Kip winning since we didn't bring our sprinters to Venezuela Pfft

Mark Christian in the breakaway, saved my say.

Nice one for Kip and Ya as a CT manager must admit you have to wonder.

Hmm, Breschel with a top 10 in the sprint was better than expected, but I was really hoping to see us in the breakaway as we're underdogs for this race. I expect us to be more agressive in the next few days!

Cool to see amateur-Kip taking the win here, he's not getting that many pancake-flat chances throughout the year, so happy for him to take this Pfft

Congrats, SotD. Jones tried, but he really won't do anything if he isn't in a +5 day.. So.. Breakaways, huhm? Please!

Cool to see youngster Baterdene at the front for the first time leading out Von Hoff! He almost did it perfectly as well!! Nice finish for Kip! Great to take 2nd though and perhaps tomorrow we can go 1 step up!

If planned well enough I think Kip can be a great CT rider. I acknowledge the fact that he has some horrible overall stats, but 69FL, 80SPR, 82ACC and 75PRL is just too good to not sign imo. Of course if you have a better sprinter already he will not be smart to sign, but just for C2 races like this he will almost always be a 3 star favorite, and while he will hit'n'miss quite often, he will also get it right from time to time. And with 75PRL he might even get a good GC here and there also.

It could be the one time he got it right, though, but 16 points here is equal to ending up 8th in the GC, and I'd like to believe he won't be done scoring a bit of points here. If he doesn't win anything more, but still get into the mix, I'd say he should end up on atleast 25 points which is similar to 5th in the GC.

But maybe i'm looking at this too much from an amateur team point of view. Imo he was easily the best pick of the rest, as he was the only rider you could actually plan on getting points from, while the rest needed to be lucky with opponents or breakaways.

21 Pfft

And 7 prologues/epilogues.

The season was planned around him mainly, so the goal is to land him at around top 50 in the individual ranking, which would require 122 points if last seasons list is anything to go by. He scored 48 points last season, but with already having 16 I think it's realistic to beat that. Julien Simon scored 102 last season (but was slightly better), if he can score half that I'll be very happy.

That was why I went for Kip and not one of the other sprinters. It would suck to see the team trusting a sprinter who then takes a 7-8th here and there rather than just going for breaks.

Can't wait to see whether having Kip will completely destroy my team in hills and mountains though... If they wait for him, all will be lost Pfft

Simon almost would've scored double of that if he didn't crash on the final Benelux stage. So that's a very achievable goal Grin

We don't have a lot of suitable races for him though. Jelajah SKL, Tour of South Africa and Tour de San Luis are basically the races for him. Otherwise he might content for a few points here, in Cyprus and Japan. So 50 will probably be his limit reach.
